@ 2:29 the girls sing/swing a kicky genderswapped version of Ticket to Ride! Great & sadly cut off :^(. Also reminds me that the pure & simple yet creatively genius drumming of Mr Ringo Starr was one thing that makes the Beatles original version brilliant& better than this..listen to Ticket To Ride for the drumming & in addition to the very unusual drumbeat he tosses in all these simple memorable little drum fills/hits that keep the song interesting (love the drumrolls) A near flawless single.
This just reminds me to remind younger music fans that however great the musical legacy in retrospect the music of the Beatles is..you had to be there to see how they came into the music world like a TIDAL WAVE (only Elvis made a bigger splash but he wrote nadA)...The world's collective jaws dropped & virtually everyone from grandpa to babies loved their music. Musicians changed their looks /guitars to look/sound like them & everyone covered their music as it came out! & they spread love&peace!
What a Wonderful RARE Find! I <3 Dusty...always have! She's so FAB!! A rare voice. A rare Lady. I am so glad she knew she was getting her Hall of Fame Award before she passed away. & oh Juliet! Nice. but I do not know Miss Mathieu...sorry.
Glad I found this though & Thank You for sharing it.
I can't believe someone posted this! I saw it on TV when it was first shown and I loved it. Little name dropping here. A friend knew Juliet Prowsw's secretary and invite us to Julia's house one night. I was totally jazzed I was going to meet her so of course she wasn't there. That's why she invited us over that particular night. Oh well, I was in her house at least.
It's crazy how people were celebrating the beatles music nearly as soon as or just a few years after it was released; hendrix and coker are other examples. You wouldn't see a Nickelback medley nowadays for sure (thank god)
@sukes58 Then why do I still have The Beatles single "Obladi oblada" b/w/ "While my guitar gently weeps" (Parlophone HHR 142), which went to #1 in The Netherlands in 1968? And the song is credited to Lennon/McCartney, even on the Marmalade single....................
Dusty Rocks!!! What a beautiful voice she has!!I'm a huge fan of Dusty Springfield - I just heard about this new original DVD series: reelinintheyears(dot)com/britishinvasion
I thought that had to be Mereille Mathieu. I wondered what happened to her. I adored her voice in the sixties. She reminded me of Edith Piaf's vocals, very strong, very sweet voice.
fab love it
