  • This Guy wouldn't standa chance against my local baker. He can make 12 rolls in 10 seconds. He can also apply the icing to 10 custard slices evenly in 20 seconds. Its scary to watch.

  • @TheCrotchparty sexy

  • @farts537 lol

  • I don't care that the guillotine choke was shown in a couple swarchenegger movies

  • @swervmerv1 You might not, but I do. Oh and you spelt Schwarzenegger wrong.

  • i know why the brazilians made "Jujitsu Moves" so their soccer ball doesn't get stolen dummy!

  • i hate guilotine choke my hands are very flexible so i ussually get choked out ;(

  • @tywainwright1 because one your being a smart ass to a higher ranking martial artist than you, they should teach you respect. and if you never felt blood compression in this type of choke then there is something wrong. and you continue to be a smart ass by correcting him by saying its not called sparring, its rolling. calm down same concept different words. and if you knew the first rule "respect" then you wouldnt be saying this mess

  • @jordanjameswalker I'm simply correcting him, and yes I have felt my arteries cut off by a VARIATION of what he is showing, a guillotine that shuts off the blood, the blood choke version, what he is showing is the wind version, how many times do I have to say this?

  • @jordanjameswalker I have always heard it pronounced the correct way even by Jean-Jacques Machado, and of course, as I said, it CAN be a blood choke, but in this video the way he is doing it is a wind choke. And how exactly am I being a wannabe?

  • I've never felt any pressure on my carotid arteries from a guillotine. There is pressure on the wind-pipe definitely which is quite dangerous. If you want to know what a blood choke feels like feel the rear naked choke. I've NEVER felt any significant pressure on my carotid arteries from a guillotine. I'm quite baffled.

  • @tasneefm In ground fighting in Krav Maga, one attempts a hammer strike, you move to the side and get your opponent in a guillotine. Me and my partner figured out that if he was on my left arm, and I pulled towards me, that put pressure on his artery. Pulling away put the pressure on his spine. But, I've only felt some pressure.

  • @tasneefm then whoever is doing it on you is doing it wrong. just about all bjj chokes cut off blood to your brain. its the smarter and quicker way to take someone out. cut off their wind pipe. well i can hold my breath keep calm and work my way around the choke. cut off the blood, i have no choice but to tap or black out.

  • @jordanjameswalker just keep your mouth shut if there is nothing positive to say. or remotely positive. these people have done nothing to you. so they get a little termanology wrong. its nothing serious. whoever lears it will later figure it out.

  • I remember this gym

  • @tywainwright1 What-ever

  • ESCROTO

  • a tree fight is about gut love and will do win , you have to have a hear yo

  • @ripppking Obviously, you've never been in a 1 on 1 fight and applied a guillotine. It is a highly effective choke--sink it in, lift up, while settling backwards. Done correctly, even if you don't put tem to sleep (say you have a heavy lock on the head but their chin is tucked or something), you can just settle back to the ground, and sink into a quasi-full guard. I go in for BJJ black belt testing in two weeks, I placed 4th in my state for wrestling, i've boxed for 3 years. BJJ is the best.

  • @amalek0rs i have and i kno that the guy was saying it would be good in street fights and i was saying why it would be good if he doesnt kno how to do it pretty much

  • @amalek0rs um... random thought. where did boxing come in? i thought this was bjj. knowing you added bjj the boxing was irrelevant

  • I havent taken BJJ, though i want to, i just have a question, how does this move protect you against strikes? doesnt seem effective (but then again what do i know)

  • @onkysago if the choke is deep enough you can put someone to sleep in seconds. Notice where the guy being guillotined has his arms; he isn't really in a position to punch his way out. Of course, this assumes perfect conditions along with perfect application of the choke.

  • @Ryder188 just sleep... hmm bt if u do it for a long time i guess u can kill a person 0.0

  • @Ryder188 dont use it, but if your life depended on it jumping and sitting could potentially break their neck in two.

  • expert advice: DO NOT SMELL enemy's under arms.. maybe it can kill you.

  • I do also brezilain jiu-jitsu, thnx for your demonstrations

  • just a question... how to get out of the Guillotine Choke?? is that possible?

  • mma fighters could win alot more fights buy submissions but they just dont think at the time to do it it is soo affective

  • muio fraco

  • why does everyone pronounce this wrong? guillotine is pronounced "gee-ya-teen" not "Gill-O-Teen".. get it right mr. black belt

  • @g1taro i was thinking the same thing haha

  • @g1taro maybe theyre not americans

  • hahha white belt

  • DEADLY COMBINATION!!!!!!

  • catch wrestling figure four front choke his helluva lot faster

  • they have done moves like this a billion of times i bet they could do it while they are sleeping.

  • thanks for putting up this video i only knew it from the ground now i'll surprise my friend when where doing judo

  • The neck-breaking variation is far too dangerous!! :D

I'd never try it seriously on anyone!

  • This is a great video and I'm just about to start Brazilian jiu jitsu and was wondering wat happens if he doesn't tap (like in a streetfight)

  • @InZaneL3G3ND5 just hold it until he likes just not passes out unless you have to but just hold it for about 20 secounds roughly

  • @hfhfhf71 That makes no sense. It depends on numerous things. How winded is he when you get him in the choke? Did you catch him while he was exhaling or inhaling? Does he panic or remain calm? The more he freaks out and squirms the faster he'll lose air as well. There is no set time.

  • @InZaneL3G3ND5 well if he dosnt tap u might b doing it wrong but if he can eat it u have to b careful cause u dont wana tire ur arms out and b usless after that

  • @InZaneL3G3ND5 They go to sleeper faster than you can blink.

  • @InZaneL3G3ND5 ..if it is a streetfight, simply wait for him to pass out, then give him an atomic wedgie. There's nothing more humiliating than losing a fight, AND having your underwear wrapped around your head.

  • during a tourney i used this on a guy and he just wouldn't go down so i just tripped him, sent him face first, then armbarred him till he tapped, third degree black peeps

  • @sanity118 How would you trip him face first from this postion, and then execute an arm bar if he's facing down? The fact (if it really is) that your 3rd degree black ir quite irrelevant. 1. You obviously didn't have the choke set correctly and 2. Why would you go for an armbar if you had your oppenents back? I'm calling bull. lol

  • i use this move alot when i wrestle. it really works

  • This technique is so successful. I didn't learn how to guillotine from this video, but I saw this video, and wanted to see if I do it right, and I do. A couple of days ago I won a fight with this, It as a clean effective way to end a fight

  • great teaching.Great job to your instructor.Love it.

  • pretty cool. this guy is good

  • Marc is my professor at Gracie Barra in Phoenix and he's amazing. If you live in AZ and are interested in BJJ, I highly recommend you check the school out. They give five days of free lessons so you can see if it's what you're looking for. I was hooked after the first lesson.

  • @Phattousai i live in Arizona. Im in gilbert though. that's far from where Marc teaches right? I go to Turner's Martial Arts

  • @theneenjah Yes, we are currently at the I-17 and Dunlap.

  • yeeaaa i had some kid try this on me in a wrestling tournament. i bear hugged him and slammed him to the matt. its a good mive if u use it in a street fight against a boxer or a striker

  • @imperfection32 that hsit happened to me and 3 seconds later next thing i know i'm waking up on the floor

  • Pure awesome. :)

  • @kristovification

    You're retarded.

  • Comment removed

  • somone got to be serious once in a life time,M arts is a serious shit ,which u wankers wont understand

  • how do you defend against a groin srtike?

  • well said

  • cover ur nads

  • Hey, bassreeves1965. Punch the groin areas--an Aikido techinique.

  • wear a groin guard....

  • shoot em in the face before they get near you

  • @bassreeves1965 u need to bust low... Sag your pants and it will effectively absorb the blow... and yes i have try it and its the only way to protect ur babies!

  • My favorite move, i use it quite frequntly, took my local championship wihtin the first 30 seconds of the fight with it too

  • you're probably talking about a rear naked choke (chokes with the biceps form behind, on of the most basic chokes.)

  • Probably shouldnt be showing how to break someones neck on youtube.

  • "gi-lo-tine" haha, its how you pernounce "pronounce" it, haha

  • ge-ya-teen

  • @jiangshenghai57 english pronunciation: "gill-o-teen," french pronunciation: "gee-ya-teen." both variations are acceptable, and are used interchangeably.

    |the kid|

  • I know its spelled Guillotine but isnt it pernounced "Gi-ya-tine"

  • chokes against the front of the throat are not blood chokes (or strangles/sleepers if you will) ..to get a true blood choke you have to cut off both carotid arteries. just because your bicep is there doesn't mean it's cutting off the artery. all of your force, and stretch is against the front of the throat..making it an air choke. which cuts off the oxygen supply to the lungs, and thus the brain which is why you'll pass out if you don't tap.

  • true.

blood chokes (triangle, brabo, arm triangle)

    air choke (RNC, guillotine, ezekiel,)

air chokes work 4 to 5 seconds.

while blood chokes generally take a while since you're cutting off the blood supply to the brain.

  • it depends on how you do the rear naked, and ezekiel. as long as you're attacking the front of the throat, it's an air choke. and if you're cutting off the arteries its a blood choke or strangle. the RNC can be done in a multitude of ways. the most common ways are blood chokes, that turn into air chokes if your arms slip, you're now attacking the throat. in my experience the opposite is true, blood chokes are much faster than air chokes. i know ppl who can hold their breath for 2 mins

  • my example of the rear naked choke. if you have it sunk in properly with the bicep on one side, and your forearm on the other, its a blood choke..commonly called a sleeper hold. but if your bicep comes off and your forearm slips down, it becomes an air choke. works both ways. and i've seen a few JJJ guys do ezekiel on the sides, it really hurts.

  • ya everytime he said cuts off the blood to the brain i was thinking ya, but only because first your cutting off the oxygen to the lungs and without oxygen theres no blood going to anywhere in the body, because as we all know the oxygen carrys the blood cells, total air choke though, ive used it and been put in it. air choke

  • actually the blood carries the oxygen lol

  • hahahaha

  • Yeah, but how long would take to choke someone if it was a total air choke, couple minutes maybe. But I have seen (and been in) chokes that put people to sleep in a matter of seconds. So I believe it is a mixture, an air and a blood choke.

  • The guillotine choke is almost always a respiratory choke, not a carotid choke.

  • since when is the guillotine a blood choke? ...nice front face lock though...funny how everyone says catch wrestling didnt influence bjj.

  • it kinda looks like wrestling/thaiboxing to me...

  • catch wrestling, and wrestling in general has influenced BJJ alot more than most of them would like to admit. Renzo even admits so in his book. half the stuff you see Mario Sperry teaching comes from wrestling as well. Darrel Gohlar to be exact. in Maeda's biography it even tells of him collecting techniques and strategies from catch wrestlers while he was prize fighting as count coma.

  • true. even before maeda taught carlos gracie.

he went around the world fighting and training in different martial arts(such as wrestling and boxing) and incorporating them in his game when he fought vale tudo matches. (such as wrestling and boxing)

generally because mitsuyo was only around 5'4"

he would prefer taking the fight to the ground and finishing his opponent. he focused more on the ground work of kano's jujutsu or judo.

  • that aint as easy as they show it, Its really hard to submit by guillotine if u arnt on the ground and if u dont got the choke by underhookin is arm

  • heh assuming this is a sanctioned bjj or mma fight, there's no groin-smashing allowed.

  • Yeah thats true, i guess he wont have much time to hit ur groin....just endure it, and hold on tight lol

  • Then u just act like u dont feel anything, and keep choking i bet he cant stand long if u are choking.

  • Yeah but what happens when he smashes ur groin with his fist? his arms arent controlled

  • hahaha i would fall on my back and hold him still

  • You're assuming the person being choked can stay calm long enough to even think about that. You can be choked out in as little as 3 seconds, not to mention from that angle, you can't generate enough force to SMASH a groin, just cause some discomfort but by then, you're out.

  • you choke him harder :)

  • Now this move is too lethal, WOW

  • a good move to do once you have the choke is to take your opponent down into your guard, and squeeze your legs very tight around them and leaning back, kinda like a rear naked. if you cant choke them out dont do it, you will drain your energy if you try to choke them out and dont succeed.

  • Totally helpful. lol.

Sadly, this crap im watching for free is helping me more than the thousands or dollars wasted on Robinson's Tae Kwon Do...

  • where do babies come from?

  • the stork brings them hahaha

  • if their chin is tucked, get the anaconda body lock and stretch him out a bit, throw up the triangle on the top of his back and squeeze and it makes it hard too breath, you will get it then

  • how do you sink this move if someones chin is tucked down close to their neck/chest? in a real fight situation ive found people dont just expose or give up the front of their neck for somone to just easily slide the blade of their wrist in front of.. any suggestions?

  • in a real fight situation you should knee him in the face. that usually does the trick. or you can use the guillotine as a diversion and then do something else

  • No Toddle is quite right

If you are in a feared situation

You will most likely knee their head until they cannot stand up

    Simple instincts

  • why did i get thumbs down? it really is what you should do in a street fight. remember there are no rules on the street.

  • lol 2 days ago i was in a street fight and i choked him out and he just layed there gasping for breath and i walked off

  • sounds like the same thing what i did exept i gave him a rear-naked choke

  • so sad 14 yr old boys choking others out. Mad world

  • ...you should have at least taken his wallet

    O.o

  • in that scenario you would have an extremely tight and painful neck crank that would make most people comply to you

  • if they defend well and you cant sink the choke i'd transfer to another move... no point wasting energy. posible option is if you can force him down to the floor and he is on all foors and you are in a sprawl type position you could move into an annoconda or such... main thing is to keep control and the dominating position.

  • Keep cranking and break their jaw. They;ll stop.

  • maia has great bjj but nogs mma jj is the best we've ever seen.

  • no....i think he's referring to how the move got its name. because your armpit and the blade of your arm cause a "guillotine" effect

p.s. its spelled EXPECT, not exspect. so before you call someone a "dumb bitch" you might want to utilize your spell check so you yourself don't look dumb.

  • Demian Maia, the best BJJ practitioner in the UFC

  • but in english the guillotine (gill-o-teen) is the thing they used to slice peoples heads off in the middle ages. i'm guessing this is where they got the name because its restricting around the neck

  • ive never seen anyone tap on a standing guillotine

  • Another variation of the guillotine choke uses an arm bar. It's simple. first wrap ur arm around his neck like a normal guillotine, but instead of just grabbing ur wrist with ur other hand, u would go over his shoulder and under his armpit then grab ur wrist and squeeze for dear life. Lol. In this video he would use his left arm to execute the armbar.

  • You sir are correct.

  • This video is not very good. I compete in BJJ and train with world champions, but many little details on the choke are not mentioned, the move is not correct, a competitor would get out 9 times on 10...

  • You can't teach them all here for a limited time, maybe more of instructional-commercial

  • how so? im not questioning you, i would just like to know cus i love fighting, lol.

  • frank mir is a black belt in jujitsu idiot, watch the broke lesnar fight with frank mir, mir but him in a jujitsu move in like 30 seconds into the fight... try not to talk about stuff you dont know next time

  • mir is one of the best bjj guys out there dude. same with anderson.... guys like machida who can stand or go to ground can be more dangerous, but dont count mir out against anybody. dude is raw

  • Mir is good but I wouldn't say on of the best.... The most Dominant vers fighter who is a Legit Blackbelt in BJJ would have to be BJ Penn. His flexibility and subs are SICK!

  • yet he got completely rocked on by gsp.

  • doesnt gsp fight in a higher weight class than bj? or did bj move up a weight class?

  • I think bj went up a weight class to fight him, in ufc 94, and got completely owned. referee stopage at end of round 4

  • ok thanks, i wasnt sure

  • yeh GSP is a welterweight. But fighters can gain weight to fight in higher weight classes but then have to drop the weight again to go back down to their normal weight class.

  • Nogueira dude.

  • Comment removed

  • look at gracie in the first "UFC" tournament.. holla back next!

  • jujitsu is mostly used for street defence anyway

  • Frank mir is also BJJ fag

  • wow look if u lock the guy in the Guillotine ur finished its over lights out its almost impossiable to get out of it once its locked both of your side of your neck gets blocked and u cant breath and when u cant breath u cant fight back

  • finish him of witt DDT

lol more easy and perfect on streets

  • Yea, but all he would have to do to get out of it would be to punch you in your unprotected balls.

  • My fav submission. Easy to do and very effective.

  • nice now i can go break someones spine...lol isnt this move supposed to be a respiratory choke?

  • I just watched Submission101's guillotine choke vid, they say it's a respiratory choke.

    I don't know, I'm not an expert..

  • Well it can be both I guess, not an expert either :P

  • Chokes are one thing. But you just showed stupid kids how to crossface and break the neck. Nice job.

  • Kids don't care about this kind of stuff, they would rather stab someone these days.

  • not in sports >.>

  • Cause they're fun.

  • why are you teaching spine/neck cranks on a beginner's video?

  • Its one of the basic moves in jiu jitsu

  • the choke is yes. And neck/spine cranks are extensions of the original submission attempt, I'm well-aware of this. My point is that they are very dangerous and require a level of precision you can only through actual training AND a COMPLETE understand of the original submission. 2:53 wont cut it. In practice we perfect our technique we dont look to paralyze ppl. Its like technique a two-week white belt the heel hook. Not a good idea IMO.

  • bas rutten got the perfect defense for this

  • exact,good defense

  • yes he does.. i have tried it.. and it works

  • I'm assuming kick to the balls? Bas likes using those...

  • every technique has its anti...for example this one...you just rotate 45 Degrees ur head....facing ur chin to his ribs...then you can see that he can put anymore pressure to your neck because it hurts his ribs...after he releases a bit then you can counter

  • this is the easiest

  • if his neck is down and u cant get it could u grab and pull the gi and puch the head down?

  • but blood chockes are way faster then air chockes so its actualy a good thing :)

  • you have to start with the basics before you get in depth

  • umm I thought it was called the GUILLOTINE because it's not a blood choke...

  • c'mon. thats a school yard headlock.

  • would you recommend jj or bjj

  • i prefer Japanese over Brazilian

  • They are 100% completely different, It depends what you need it for, what you want to learn, what cultures your interested in.

They are 100% different Martial Arts, its like saying shud i do kung fu or karate? just study both of them and make a desision.

  • not even make a decision, the idea of even learning one martial discipline is enough to feel good about. if you studied both of a choice chances are youd grow to love both, because every martial art has its own unique side of interest.

  • I know these things mate.. Im an instructor and i cross train kung fu, BJJ and Muay Thai..

tell it to jojojo not me

  • jj is for power and speed. bjj is for leverage yet when you get good at it and then you add power and speed... you tell me which one comes on top. i prefer bjj. and it has worked for me over every ground game that i face in a tournament. it also works good on the street =] (if you know what youre doing).. aaanndd if there is only one guy involved. if there is more than one person, you might wanna stay on your feet lol

  • If you apply it right it stops BOTH Air and blood flow but your more likely to stop air flow than blood flow either way your oppienent will still be choked out

  • the blood choke for this is if your to weak to stop his air flow his blood flow will be cut off either way

  • how ever you can do basicaly the same technique but with the wind pipe in your elbow and applying pressure to the coroted archerys instead another good variation is if you cant get to the neck to apply the ridge of your wrist onder the nose and use same thechnique to apply lots of presure to that presure piont it wont knock some one out but can be very painful

  • iv been to enough judo and jui jitsu classes to know without the shadow of doubt that this is a chock applied to the wind pipe under the adams apple to stop the flow of air.not applied to the sides ofthe neck to stop the blood flow im sure thees people are not idiots just wrong terminology!

  • yeh i thought that as soon as i saw it :) sealing the breath not blood

  • real fight idk if this will be applicable.. i meant if i was up against someone like that i would try and crush that guys testicles.

  • Man can't belive you people are ALL so stupid? Google "Guillotine Choke" and every single source on the net will say its an air choke. You people are BEYOND IDIOTS!

  • its just 2 different names
