  • I thought that was going to become painfully expensive. I thought Godzilla would have been able to handle the snow

  • gotta have snow rated tires in those conditions for this situation. Summer UHP tires for these high performance cars clearly state they are NOT for heavy snow. This video simply confirms that fact. No big deal.

  • snow tires ftw.

  • lol at all the southern people talking smack. You guys cancel work for an inch or two of snow. Grow some balls then talk about driving in the snow. Tires make all the difference.

  • Tires make all the difference. Summer (sport) tires = Skating Rink. Winter Tires = Me Gusta!

  • half of these idiots commenting have never driven in snow.

  • SO beautifull the GT-R, so sexy.

  • awd is nothing without proper rubber just saying! Both of those cars are more than capable for the conditions, it just needs all seasons or winter tires.

  • Evo X could've them both.... not one at time but BOTH at once.

  • Like penguins on land

  • It's the double-clutch gearboxes that are killing them- you can't get the car rolling smoothly (even with AWD) because you can't control the rate of clutch engagement.

Double clutch gearboxes- not so clutch in the snow.

  • Блин такие тупые пендосы. Зимнюю резину неалё посавить?

  • All of you are retarded - especially the Nissan haters. Winter tyres make so much of a difference no matter the drivetrain. This guy is obviously on summers trying to pound through what looks like to be 2 inches of snow while on at least 245mm sections. Of course it isn't going to hack it.

  • lol wow AWD and it can't even grip the road.

  • HURRDURR SUMMER PERFORMANCE TIRES WILL BE FINE FOR WINTER DRIVING.

  • The Audi is just fine in the winter. It was built and tested in snowy conditions. The GTR has had no snowy condition testing or developing. Which is why the GTR cold not get up the hill and the Audi easily could have, meh was just being nice to the Nissan, haha.

  • Why would any use these car for winter??

  • This is right outside the uw bookstore! I never knew that the street had an incline lol

  • They make winter tires for a REASON.

  • and this is why i drive a Subaru Forester in the winter....

In all honesty though, this is a dumb video. Both those cars with proper snow tires and most importantly PROPER drivers would drive just fine in any weather conditions.

  • There's a doctor around my area that bought a GTR for the winter so I don't see a problem here.

  • people always like to point out the flaws of people who are doing better than they are, i guess it makes them feel good about themselves.

  • at the end, the passenger in the r8 is just like "fuck it, i'll walk!"

  • @norulez873 he was going to direct the traffic to make sure they wont get hit...

  • Guarantee that the Subaru Outback would ride up the road no problem.

  • Would have been awesome had a miata on A/S tires cruise up the hill pass these 2 cars! lol

  • My Subie would smoke that GT-R in the snow.

  • that subaru outback in the background would have had no problem in these conditions

  • Awd is nothing in the snow without snow tires lol. Idiots

  • @rosie684 um.... the Audi most likely does not have snow tires and it managed

  • whats the color called on the gtr?

  • you cant afford the car if your driving it in snow

  • Awesome cars not sure where they live but people who live up north are more fearless when it comes to driving in snow. Looks like awful conditions to drive. road looks like slush with ice at the bottom. Worst kind of conditions to drive.

  • and ps ... mine has 44.000Km and never ever missed a beat.

Done 260 laps at Spa and 40 on the Nordschleife... so i gets used and is no wall flower or so.

Very rare anything goes wrong with it...

  • I drove my GTR in the snow many times ... with snow tires (OF COURSE) ... no issue what so ever. I even did some full acceleration tests (where safe!) to test grip and braking.

It is very capable ... of course I do not know the conditions where the video what made ...

  • snowtires,very important

  • Assholes!!! who drives a R8 or a GTR in the snow, salt and slush?? Bastards should have there cars taken away for being douchebags. Nothing beats Audi's (VW's) AWD 4 motion thats why its better in the snow.

  • @Jimdownhill123 accept for maybe Subaru

  • they were already up the hill.... why pull back ........

  • Use the launch control

  • Correct the Title....On the snow ....who the hell two cars will fit in the snow???

  • You should've asked the Subaru guy to tow both of you up hill

  • my 6k subaru would destroy that hill

  • @iTouchiPodz

Not if it had summer performance tires. No AWD vehicles whether a Subaru, Land Rover, Jeep, or Hummer would be able to make that hill without normal or winter tires. Summer performance tires literally make your vehicle useless in winter snow.

  • AND HOW MUCH DID YOU PAID FOR THAT? HAHA

  • if they can afford these they can afford winter cars shame on them for driving these cars through salty rads

  • Just put on some Blizzaks and try it again. You'll be fine.

  • This is what I see when I read everybody's comments: "I wish I had an R8 or a GT-R :*("

  • You can't give the GT-R guy too much grief, I'm sure that putting snow tires on the car will void the warranty and/or break the transmission.

  • @iXetsuei except tirerack has snow tires for the GTR :/

  • @dethmetalderique What the fuck does that have to do with my post? I never said there were no snow tires available for the GT-R. Learn to read you fucking moron.

  • @iXetsuei lol rage much? jeez no wonder there's so many youtube fights. chill out bud.

  • @iXetsuei

People still make this dumb joke? What next, arrow to the knee joke or yo momma?

    Anyway,

    A. It was pre 2009 cars

    B. It wasn't the transmission

    C. It happened to less than 1% of GT-Rs (reported by edmunds dot com)

Yet people still take it out of proportion.

  • @iXetsuei Jalopnik?

  • @iXetsuei it wouldn't do either of those... putting studded or snow chains would. It void's the warranty on my a4 if i do those..

  • LMAO ... that GTR still has the stock summer tires on (probably semi-slicks) serves ya right poser !!!

  • Snow tires...dude...get them.

  • dumbass with summer tyres.

  • Yikes, gotta be more careful than that.

  • at least they're taking it in the snow

  • I love to think that 15 minutes before, the GT-R driver was welling in the bar "Challenge accepted". You know what, challenge FAILED!

  • Wow. Oh yeah, lets take summer tires and go in the snow. Even a rally car with summer tires won't do jack.

  • does the gtr have AWD? or am i going crazy

  • @deadjoey77

Both cars have AWD, though the Audi has a heavy rear-wheel bias (30/70 power split) The Datsun's AWD system is 50/50 split, but it can shift the power to be up to a 2/98, which, near as it makes no difference, is rear-wheel drive.

These two prove that tires are more important than drive train setup.

  • my heart would be pounding like crazy if i were the R8 driver
