Unarmed police officers?? IN ALASKA??? An area with one of the mot free gun laws on the planet????? What exactly is the gracie defense against a 10 gauge buck shot ripping through your chest?
"I like seals, but lets keep it real we're in Alaska right now, this is a survival situation". Ryron puts a normal hat-wear. Haha Ryron is just mocking his brother right there! Haha I love them.
Please train with Police gear on to make it more realistic. Ballistic vest, duty belt with baton, taser, handcuffs in the middle of your back, keys, radio, etc...These things make hip movement a bit more difficult not to mention the added 20+ lbs of weight and the weapons the bad guy has access too.
Arguing about the fighting styles is not getting anywhere. Remember, especially if you watched the awesome Gracie museum video, there was no BJJ a hundred years ago. Only Japanese jujitsu back then but it spread to Brazil and became something more, just like all styles will in the future with the crossing of all borders in MMA.
No disrespect, I love Rener and Ryron, but I find Rener's "It doens't matter what standing techniques you know." statement to be very disrespectful and ignorant. I do Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate, hoping to take up BJJ soon too, however I find it absurd to say ANY part of combat is acceptable to ignore or not train hard at, ESPECIALLY in a jobs like they are in. If MMA has taught us ANYTHING it is that ALL parts of combat should be practiced strongly!
@ValkyereHowie Sorry for the confusion, that piece of the video was presented out of context. I meant no disrespect to other arts. What isn't shown on the video is that we were discussing how when fighting on terrain as unstable and slippery as snow/ice, the likelihood of the fight falling to the ground is nearly 100%, therefore, you must know how to stay safe and get back to your feet.
@RenerGracie Well uh, if that's the case I would definitely have to agree, I could not think of a worse place for balance except maybe an ice rink. I'm sorry but I find it very difficult to believe that you are actually Rener Gracie. So if you actually are Rener could you mention this account in your next video, so we could know it's actually you and not just some 12 year old in front of a computer that thought it would be cool to pose as Rener Gracie?
Oh man are you serious?! Lol. I can't believe it. Even if it's just through youtube dude, sorry I doubted you Rener, I just couldn't believe I'm actually talking to you lol. And sorry if I disrespected you at all with my comment, I guess when you train in any art you become kind of defensive about it ya know? You become protective of it. I absolutely LOVE what you and Ryron do. I'm only 16, trying to get a job here so I can afford to do Jiu-Jitsu along with gym membership and Karate lol.
Now shoot an AK-45 the same way and you'll see the difference. The noise, the range, the muzzle velocity & the kick that thing has is absolutely beautiful, And very little recoil for such a powerful riffle and not to mention the fact that they fire literally under any circumstances, in water, mud, sand, you can poor sand down the barrel of that thing and it works just fine. I had the pleasure of using one in combat in Iraq and i was blown away. The Russians really outdid themselves with the AK.
So much respect I have for Gracie Jiu Jitsu, but I'm training with the GFTeam out here in CT and it's crazy. Check the history the Gracie's know what's up.
Hey guys, thank you so much for your support of law enforcement. It's really cool to see people like you helping out where it counts. My father is a police officer in California and we are both very appreciative of the efforts from the Gracie Academy. PS Alaska state troopers is an awesome show, can't wait to see you in this episode!
gracie jiu-jitsu around the world. Someone heard about kung-fu recently? no disrespect but people are starting to know what is effective and what is not!!!
@LikeTotallyRich Don't say one art is ineffective, because exactly that is disrespectful. How come Kung Fu has survived over 2000 years? Surely not because it's ineffective. It was there when no other art was known, it is in a way the source of most of the newer arts that exist now. Don't get me wrong, I love BJJ as much as Kung Fu and every other art. They're all great in their way. But don't say one is not as effective as another. It's often just not right. Btw awesome video! Thumbs up from me
@tsi2568 There is a difference in GJJ and BJJ as in the Gracies made their jiu jitsu for confrontations on the street and it also easier to learn basic moves in GJJ than in "Kung-Fu" simply because it is easier to subdue an enemy in the streets which is what the gracies dedicated their jiu jitsu for. I'm not saying that kung fu is less effective but it is becoming less and less popular while people are learning MMA techniques
@LikeTotallyRich I dunno man, I like to think that no single style is totally superior to another, in all reality it is the individual who makes any one style effective. Even people who train at the same gym will develope different ways of doing things, it's all about what works for you.
I respect you and your family. I love studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and learning about the Gracie Diet. And you guys seem to be very nice people, but I think you do not know what kind of people/industry you are indirectly supporting with that seal fur hat. What these people do is fundamentally the opposite of what Helio Gracie brought to the world. I am sure you did not really think about it much, but consider this:
