I've never been knocked backward , but I did have an awsome experience where I was overcome with the Holy Spirit, I went into a spell of weeping, weeping happily that is. This was at church during a choir rehearsal, we had a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to visit us. This was the furthest thing possible from something the devil would induce, I felt the love for Jesus Christ exuding from every fiber in my body. It was kind of a once in a lifetime thing for me, one that I'll treasure forever.

Show me one bible verse where Jesus or an apostle caused someone to be "slain in the spirit" as your church teaches. Correction, we don't teach slain in the Spirit, we experience it. I recently asked another Pharisee to judge my experience and he would not, so will you? I scriptural pray for some one, Ac 8:17, many others as well, they asked for the Holy Spirit, Lu 11:13, and during the process they fell on the floor, and when they got up the had a greater love for Jesus. Where is the devil in this, what do I need to repent of?

Other contradictory religions claim authority from God. Was Paul being a Pharisee when he said, "Those who continue in sin, rebuke in the presence of all..." During this meeting many people experience a great touch from God and walked away very happy for being in the meeting. One of the biggest differences between real miracles of the bible and the so called miracles of the charismatic movement such as being "slain in the spirit", is that bible miracles were so obviously miracles that there could be no secondary causes involved. The same cannot be said of being "slain in the spirit." What you are doing is absolute heresy and you need to repent.

Paul also said that we should test the spirits and contend for the faith. The Bereans went so far as to check what Paul taught against the Scriptures (Acts 17:11)! Paul was pretty "negative" at times in a number of his writings. This idea that Christians can't say anything against a belief (or another believer), because that's negative, is not Scriptural and it's a cop out. We are always to fight for truth and reveal error, just as Paul did.

The power of suggestion. There is no Scriptural evidence for being "slain in the Spirit." In fact, this and things like it more often resemble the same antics that occur in pagan and heathen ceremonies. This not only does not glorify God, but does nothing for the recipient. I find it interesting that if there was not a person back there to catch these folks, they would likely get hurt. People are truly sheep.

There are many places where in God's presence people fell down, even today. We are experiencing great things by the layng on of hands and are sharing it with others seeing people get healed and developing greater love and devotion for God. You should try it.

John fell down out of FEAR and I'm sure I would too. There is NO evidence from Scripture that this phenomenon called "slain in the Spirit" is from God at all. None. There are plenty of examples from pagan culture where these exact same things happen to them. I was involved in the Charismatic movement years ago. For them, it's all about subjective truth. God is not glorified with this at all. In fact, Christ warns against "babblings" as the heathen do.
