@SPAZZY1912 8800 was a huge step forward at the time of it's release but if you want to upgrade, consider buying something newer. A GTX 460 1GB would probably be a good choice. Maybe the best Nvidia card right now for its price.

@thetrialshot you'll want to upgrade tyour ram to 4gb in total. the cpu is ok for this game because is more of a cpu require game. im not sure about the 9500GT, if you're ok to play with some med and some low settings then you're good.on single player you'll get average fps but on multiplayer it might drop down so play on lowest settings.try to mess around with the settings, download the Arma 2 demo from their website,even tho the demo is a lil laggy but itll give u an idea.

If anyone's curious about running a game on their system, if they can handle it etc, go to canirunit(.)com. A guy from EB Games told me about it a while ago and it hasn't ever let me down. Mind you it isn't a perfect system, kinda generic in it's "recommended specs" but it will tell without doubt if you can run a game, and basically at what quality.

Hope this helps someone as much as it helped me.

Buy Combined operations and then BAF from Sprocket.

Combined operations is Arma 2 and OA together and will get you tons more weapons, units, maps.etc.

The 1.59 patch is all you need. It updates both Arma 2 and OA.

it also applies any updates to the PMC and BAF DLC.

The patch also contains the "Lite" versions of the PMC/BAF so you can play with

people using the paid versions.

The lite versions of the DLC use lower rez textures and lower quality sounds.

Gameupdates [dot] org has a torrent and Arma2 [dot] com has the updates to download.

That's the age old goal of the sniper, but the reason it's a _goal_ and not an objective is that it's very hard to do. People generally do not die from one gunshot wound unless it's hit something important like the brain or the heart. Everything else leaves room for doubt. Arma 2 simulates this. It's very fun when you down someone in one shot. :D
