thats because bands like this and reel big fish came out and made it gay, poppy-like bullshit. Ska is supposed to be tough RUDE SKA!! (skatalites, prince buster, laurel aitken, original specials, original selecter, judge dread, let's go bowling etc.)

I agree, to a point, that the inundation of poppy sudeo ska bands like RBF was a bit if a bummer, but the acceibilty to the movement gave rise to so many brilliant bands...I would rather a 100 RBF types with 1 Hepcat or LGB than none at all. Still djchata, your examples are all brilliant, but so middle of the road. Why no Desmond, no Hot Knives, no Bodysnathers, etc. Maybe your ideas are just as canned about what is and is not Rude. (Being yourself and playing any kind of ska, very rude).
