these are really solid ideas. youtube definitely hasn't produced the same amount of quality for a long time. everything thing's just a parody of a parody of a parody and shameless attempts to get views and likes. i'm definitely going to follow that tumblr.

I like the tumblr idea but perhaps one person a day would make it more valuable? There's a possibility that if there are so many channels on there then it would become white noise and everyone would blur together.

Is the committee secret? I don't see a list of who organizes the site.

i'm the one working on the site right now. i didn't want to put my information up on the site because it's not about me--it's about the people being featured. if you have any input, feel free to write on my channel page/comment on the video where i talk about the site/put something in the ask box/submit something to the site/send me a youtube message/email me (bellatheelephant@gmail). this is still a brand new idea, so we're still figuring out how it's going to work! :)

@ninjakittyX yeah. i understand. completely. i remember watching youtube like 3 years ago and getting like ridiculously excited when i found some gem of a real person, just making videos and having a laugh. those were the best (youtube) times.

now, i dont even bother. the most discussed's list is shit, and im relegated to my ever-dwindling stock of subscriptions to real people.

honestly, part of the reason why I stopped making videos about a year ago was because I hated the new community (or lack-there-of).

If I see improvements, I would definitely make videos again.

yeah. i mostly stopped/cutback because i felt stale/uninspired. i always blamed that on me, but maybe part of it was just not being inspired by others due to the community's practical death.

i'm game for running the tumblr. lots of pages work like that, where anyone can submit content, and one or a couple of people are in charge of posting it. 'the little guys' is already taken; any other ideas?

@bellaelephant Fun fact: After posting this video, I too checked tumblr and found 'the little guys' was already taken. But, back to the point, that would be killer. We'd still have problems of getting the word out about it, but it's a decent second-best option.

No real idea on an alternate name. only thing (that's available) coming to mind right now is 'asfeaturedonyoutube', kinda riffing on as seen on tv. but that doesnt really fit--or roll of the tongue.

i kinda also like the idea of allowing submissions but requiring approval before their posted.

yeah. getting the word out is the hardest part. im not sure. if you build it, they will come? kinda depends how the YouTube revolution turns out (ie, if we dont get Option 1).

i dig the tumblr idea as an easy way to spread quality community videos, but it is second best to point 1. Starting a tumblr would require so much extra work because it goes beyond the youtube infrastructure (ie, finding quality editors/community overlords and spreading the word on the tumblr). But I still like the idea of it and kinda want to make it happen

If the tumblr existed, there could be different people in charge of the various content on YouTube and make a tagged page for each category. (art/music, vloggers, reviewers, comedy/sketch, etc.)
