Actually, in the actual poem, Beowulf represents the triumph of Heathen values, prior to Christianity. It really depends on what or whose translation you are reading. The action takes place prior to the spread of Christianity in the North or even the comming of Christianity for that matter--AD 525. In the original text there are no specifically Christian markers.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS!!!! ALL HALE WHOEVER MADE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 i love all Norse stuff and i love rock THIS IS THE FUCKING BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 whoever made that song, i want to marry you lol
@Arkenarge beowulf took his clothes off when he fought grendel because, he wanted both him and grendel to fight as equals, grendel wears no clothes, so beowulf wears no clothes, although we may not understand the reasons behind that, to defeat a man equal to you back then was a great triumph, death ment glory to not die in battle was shameful, i know its weird. everything hinged on pride and glory back then, tru warriors of old
@Garkld ARE YOU STUPID OR WHAT? beowulf confronts a dragon in the 3rd chant of the original ancient poem.
the movies when he faces grendel are just based on the first chant, in the second one he faces grendels mother and becomes a king of his homeland by defending it from an invation , in the 3rd chante he faces a dragon whe he is older and dies in the proces leaving withlove (i dont remember the spelling)as his succesor
@LatinoBadass i know what u mean brother. in all the Beowulf movies(yes there are others!) they can never get it right. i read the poem a few times and even i know what was right and what is wrong. but shit i just gave up. they are never going 2 make a good/great Beowulf movie sense nun of them really read the poem of Beowulf. but in the name of the gods, im with u. the movie would have been better if he had just killed Grendel mother and. well u know the rest. but ya...
Am I the only one noticing the dragon's HUGE anatomical flaws?
It has no rib cage protecting the heart and lungs, it's esophagus relies on gravity to bring ingested items to its stomach, not to mention the heart and lungs are protected by a THIN membrane. And its esophagus is RIGHT in front of the heart and lungs.
Hey aThornONaRose I love the song Sons Of Odin by Manowar, and today, I borrowed the movie Beowulf from the library and tonight my brother and I are going to watch it when my little sister goes to bed.
i have never heard words spoken so beautifully other then what you said my brother. its as if the gods them self told u what to say. May Odin, The AllFather take u into Valhalla when u die, and i will meet u there my brother.
if u put the part where beowulf ripps out the dragons heart out put the time of the song 4:35 then as the time reaches to 4:49 put the scene where u see beowulf on a ship u knw dead and frm there goes on btw i'm jst sayin tht 2 make the video better its gd how u made it but make it like a gr8 music video
heh ya loved this song and every time i herd it. after i watched this movie i would think about it while listening too it. So figured i should just put em both together
Should have used the song 'son of Edgetho' its much more accurate.

beowulf is human not a son of odin or any god :) but will be fighting at ragnarok with us!!! :D

Ironically Beowulf (in the poem) arguably represents the triumph of Christianity and Christian virtue over germanic/scandinavian paganism.

I don't know why Beowulf took all of his cloths off, a loin cloth wouldn't give him a advantage over Grendel -_-

mhhh i don't like this new movie of beowulf... they called the troll Grender... it's name is Grendel and it's looks nothing like a troll.
and beowulf fought never a dragon
I stick more to older version, were Grendel was just a looking like a giant human
But the song is Great!
Garkld 1 year ago
@Garkld you know that in the real story from the 900 century Beowulf dies in the end of the story fighting a dragon?
but this doesn't happen in Denmark but in his homeland, the land of the deanes witch he became king in, not Denmark,

@cktaresh Dude, the dragon is acreture of magic and when magic is involed anatomical flaws and limitations fly out the window at Moc 10
Now if this were scientificly based like "Reign of Fire" then I would agree with you. But it's not, so no one cares!
