Then he bound seven of his sons to an oath that brought them all to madness and/or doom. The deeds wouldn't have been right to avenge Finwë, much less to regain the Silmarils.

@irimawen actually yeah I see what you mean. It was more the greed for the Silmarils that drove him to slay his kin and betray them and even creating the Silmarils brought darkness on the whole of Arda. I think the fact that Morgoth murdered Finwë added to the aggression. and that Fëanor's selfish actions brought down the whole Noldorian race. This has changed my opinion on Fëanor XD
