I also thought the rider at the beginning of the video had pretty loose thighs that kind of flapped around. The amount of thigh pressure can depend on the horse. A lazy horse needs more leg. However, it's good to reward the horse by relaxing somewhat when he responds. A forward horse will sometimes respond to shorter reins (for collection) and more leg pressure (to keep the horse moving at the canter and not slowing to a trot.)
helped me alot to improve my riding and i love learning from watching vids! it's a great way and ppl may think that it's not helpful but it is! =) thanks again!!
great clip helped me alot u must b a good rider ne ways can yhoo tell him how to do sitting trot i can do everything else xcept a sitting trot i jus bobbling around
@lauren22457 Sitting trot is a lot of work! Have you tried riding with no stirrups with a qualified instructor on the lunge? You want to stretch your hip flexors and relax your bum muscles. You can do a lot of exercises for this before you start trotting. Try when you mount to grab your ankle/shin and push your hips forward (on both sides). You can also do big bicycle motions with your legs at the walk to loosen up your hips. Msg me for more tips! :) Good luck!
what makes for great tuition is instruction and then a demo to prove it! great vids keep them up

Your thigh should hang like a wet dish cloth on the edge of a sink...hanging relaxed flat and adhesive ;-)
