  • You have so much videos on things like that, leeches, hornets, spiders etc. Can they be found in your home in Japan O.O cos I want to move to Japan someday but I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of those kind of things. I actually don't even open any windows or doors when it's summer at night because of the moths and things. I don't even have air con or fans and I would actually rather roasted to death than seeing them things in my room ><

  • And your bragging about that!

  • Ever get ticks on you when you hike?

  • I think in the old days, doctors used leeches on patients who were severely ill..

  • @Brinah They used leeches for pretty much anything.

  • @Catdemondarkness things were so bad back then.......i suppose it took some trial and error to heal a person!

  • @Brinah At least we don't have to worry about seeing barrels of leeches in Doctor offices now.

  • @Brinah Yes, they did. The theory was that disease was caused by an imbalance of the "four humors", blood, black bile, yellow bile, and phlegm. The leeches were supposed to reduce the amount of blood in the body, correcting the supposed imbalance. Leeches are still sometimes used in modern medicine for the anticoagulant effects of their bite, which may help to stimulate blood flow in certain cases.

  • Leech... It reminds me of the movie STAND BY ME

  • You mean to say that walking through a forest a leech crawls up your leg and you can't feel it and you are not wading through a marsh? That is horrible!! Then he just fell off without you knowing. Worse.

  • @Limastudent That's right. I've never felt these creatures on me. They have a very gentle touch. ~Kurt :-)

  • @Limastudent

    Leeches trained by ninjas bro.

  • I hate leeches! something about them just freaks me out!!! XD

  • What do you do if you find a leech ON you? You can't just pull them off, right?

Also, remember your Japanese Moutnain Leech videos? ;3

  • @Lishy1 The best way I know to remove a leech is to gently push the end of a fingernail between your skin and the leeche's mouth. They pop right off! I have a vid somewhere way back titled "How to Remove a Japanese Mountain Leech" which shows how. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

  • when leeches bit does it hurt

  • @benthecoolman2 I've never felt a leech bite me. Quite painless in my experience. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa when you pull them can you see there tung or what ever they use suck blood still in you

  • @benthecoolman2 When I remove the leech it's gaping mouth is evident though that is about it. It's not too gross. ~Kurt :-)

  • Leeches always freak me out ever since I was a kid and my brother came out of the lake with leeches covering his legs.

  • What duty do leeches have in the environment? Are they just leeches in all senses?

  • @imRyRy Hello friend, Your question is great and one I have received several times in the past. I even made a video to address it over on my LylesBrother channel. The video is titled "The Value of a Leech". I'll add it here as a video response if you are curious. Thank you again for watching and commenting. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa Thank you for bringing up that video. This may be off-topic, but I had a strange sensation when reading your reply. Here I am, a boy in Canada talking to someone in Japan. Ahh, technology! haha

  • Leech bite! Ahh! :(

  • Oh my goodness that looks horrible! I hoep I wont come across any of these in the inaka!

  • Next time, shoot the video with the leech on your leg. Come on, show us the money.

  • @ericsurf6 Hi Eric. I never saw the leech that got me on this hike (it may be crawling around in my car still). If you want to see a leech on me then check my video titled "How to Remove a Japanese Mountain Leech" in which I demo how easy it is to remove them. If you are not afraid to see a little (ok, a lot) of blood then see my video titled "Blood Sucking Japanese Mountain Leech". That little guy got me good! Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

  • Do you bring a first aid kit with you on your hikes?

  • @TheChosenOne1251 I've never carried a first aid kit. I know I should though I never do. Thank you for watching, friend. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa I agree with Chosen, bring some first aid just in case next time bud!

  • That must have been a great hike, since you've bled a lot.

  • @MGSGeneral You understand my fun criteria well, friend! Thank you for watching. ~Kurt :-)

  • what is your is the worst bite you have had?

  • p.s. this vid is a clue to your surprise gift.

  • Don't forget miss aloe Kurt! She misses you.

  • april 16th? that's a while ago

  • damn

  • Ouch, that sucks. Watch out for those little buggers!

  • I ALMOST didn't click on this video...lol. I wonder how many nightmares you will give me this year...:-p

  • It seems you've got a few videos that are still swimming around your hard drive(s) as well. I could make a full-length theatrical presentation with all of my footage!

I had a strange bite happen just above my ankle last week that had an appearance similar to your leech bite, but it didn't bleed. Rather, it became sore, swelled a little, and bruised! I'm perplexed as to what did it because it was a single puncture. Centipedes and spiders usually leave 2 punctures from their pincers or fangs.
