@jlong666 emo is not a genre? in the 1980s the genre emo was made & it comprised of meaningful lyrics.the fans then made a style 4 it.the sad thing is people wear the style & dont no anything about it.The genre emo is stuff like dashboard confessional and paramore but there is a subgenre called emocore/screamo (same thing) this doesnt sound emo but it might be emocore if so yea it is emo .

Dashboard confessional and paramore, (paramore especially), are not emo.

To be safe the bands u stated r correct to go around and say they r emo but i dont know about the examples i gave anymore... if ' dear whoever ' is emo (not saying it is) then it would be emocore/screamo (sub genders of emo) not emo. the history i gave i believe that is how emo came about.
