  • Great Airline. Great people. Great service. It was a huge loss for the public to lose Pan Am. It was the ICON of the United States. Awesome. It is a pity.

  • It was fun to watch your video. We sure enjoyed our Pan Am trips!

  • wow. What can I say? This video is just intriguing to me. The music has me completely pulled in with a force. As I watch the video I think on the the amazing sights these women must have seen and I wonder where they are at now in life. As some of you state, there was a "class" about that era compared to what we have become in America now. This piano plays a haunting tune and has me listening to it over and over.

  • There are still airlines out there reminiscent to Pan Am in it's heyday. But they are all headquartered outside of the United States. Even still, I can only imagine the pleasure of being able to smoke while on a 12 hour flight.

  • My dad worked PanAm cargo and ticketing in LAX for 28 years up to the day they ceased operations. PanAm was the reason we could visit his family in Holland every year for vacation. I'm glad PanAm family still keeps up with each other and many visited him i before he died. With the state of the industry being what it is, it's good PanAm no longer flies. I couldn't stand to see her have to stoop to todays lows. Pan Am was truly an elite airline that will never be equaled.

  • Compare these to the "flight attendants" of today who are surly, incompetent, and think that they are able to get you arrested if you dare to make even a peep about their horrible treatment.

  • @MiHiVidz Amen to that! Many of the flight attendants are bullies.

  • As an ATC I also missed the times when in the middle of the night I would be in the control seat watching the "Clipper" on a flight from Rio to JFK reporting their passing by airways markers over the Amazon region. Pan Am was a remarkable airline company. I will always treasure its history. Thanks for posting.

  • I really do miss PanAM. The finest carrier ever!

  • thank you for showing us this video, it has brought back an era of what air travel was once was in America...glam

  • Very nice video. I hope you will check out the video I did about my mother who was a Pan Am Stewardess from 1957 to 1960. Thanks!

  • what a great video and what amazing memories you made !!

  • I truly miss PAN-AM airlines. I did get the chance to fly Pan-Am when I was 9 yrs. old. Oh well. "What an airline you were my lady"

  • What is the name of the song?

  • I love you Pan Am, Miss you so.

  • Sure brought back memories of my flying days! I was based in HNL, LHR and MIA!! Loved every minute!!!

  • When Pan Am went so did America.

  • Hi - Call me crazy but I have a "Clipper Club"

Bar in our house in Australia - It has the bronze Clipper Ship from the Miami Club door and all my old Pan Am stuff including a

color photo of Clipper Friendship Force

I took in Pago Pago at midnite when I was

20 years old. Pan Am staff would ALWAYS

try and help you out when you got stuck somewhere. I've now been with QANTAS

for 36 years, 25 in the USA and it's been good to me but my hat always comes off

for PAN AM - thankyou for your memories

    i

  • what a great video . im a international flight attendant with qantas. i love this video . what great memories for you . sad to say but flying has now changed so much . we get all types on board now . some are lovely people . and others are utterly dreadful. i so wish flying was for the wealthy again, my job would be a lot easier.

  • This is a time when LADIES were in the sky.

  • that was amazing- you're so lucky to have had those experiences

  • I was just having a discussion with by best friend of 25 years where I pointed out the class, and air of professionalism the stewardesses and pilots presented way back when I was a kid. I frequented IAH (now Bush Intercontinental) in the 70s and 80s. The pilots and crews always came off from a long flight in a procession, and always tipped their hats to me and even did something they used to call a smile. That just doesn't happen anymore. BTW, I have a fleet of 30 Pan Am planes on my desk.

  • It was always Pan Am, KLM, and Lufthansa at the top of my list of favorite airlines, especially as evidenced by my commercial airliner collection. The weird thing is that (I'm 39), and I've felt awkward explaining to people that there used to be a great airline called Pan American. That's weird to me. While we're on the topic of remembering Pan Am, what does anybody on this thread think of the Pan Am television series coming up next month? I'd like to know everybody's thoughts on the show.

  • @jakfuki I thought it was crap. My Dad was with PanAm for 28 years and he rolled in his grave when that trash aired. PanAm was truly elite. The reason: esprit de corps and a history to be proud of. What other company dissolves & still has an active company store? Or still holds employee reunions? PanAm was more family than company. One of my Dad's treasures was a system-wide teletype. Every employee at every PanAm station around the globe personally signed off with a message on the last day.

  • I was a travel agent from 1967-2005 and saw the world like you did, and often on Pan Am...thanks for sharing your memories, It really was the BEST of times for us and our industry !!

  • Who doesn't remember Zoe Hirschfield??!! Is there or was there any better job ANYWHERE??!!!

  • I love the bobbed hair and the '70s dresses! I started flying for Pan Am in 1977. It was the best education anyone could want. I've written about many of my memories also-

gigi wolf, author of the Pan Am Pages on ChezGigi.com

  • OMG ! Zoe Hirschfield ! I knew her too ! She always PUSHED her rollerboard like a lawnmower ! Backwards ! Steve Bourgeois NAL / PAA / DAL

    Today is 06 August 2011

  • Hello, do you have anymore pictures? I enjoyed watching your video! I'm a cabin crew but it's not the same anymore!

  • Too bad flight attendants aren't hot women in their 20's wearing short skirts and go-go boots anymore. Long live flying in the 70's.

  • It's interesting that so many people have memories of PanAm from childhood. I certainly have many, having flown PA001 and PA002 "RTW" (round-the-world) flights from Tokyo from the early 1960s...places where we stopped included Rangoon, Saigon, New Delhi, Karachi, Teheran, Beirut, Hong Kong, Bangkok. It was always in the middle of the night in Karachi in either direction, and stray dogs used to come sniffing for food.

  • I was in Class 1 (Jan. 3) 1970. I flew with Holly in Miami. Then I went to NY in Crew Scheduling. Anyone remember Zoe Hirschfield? She'd be hard to forget! Your video brought back a lot of fond memories!

  • @01panana

OMG! Zoe Hirschfield was legend. She was hilarious and a loose cannon. Zoe was bluntly honest and expressive in ways most of us never imagined.

    Thanks!

    ~Valerie

  • @07Valerie

I graduated from Pan Am training July 2nd, 1970 and flew many, many trips with Zoe Hershfield. You're right she was a legend!!! I stayed in Miami for 3 1/2 years then transferred to LAX.

    Carol

  • @01panana That was DELIGHTFUL! Wow, it took me back to my days as a kid. In 1970 I was five yrs old... however, I remember flying Pan Am. Pan Am was always regarded as the 1st Class Airline of the sky regardless of what cabin service one was receiving; AMAZING! Sign of the times made PanAm bite the bullet! Flying in 2011 is soooooooooooooooooooooooo cheeze... it's disgusting! Will never forget those Pan Am days, not ever! Thank you for the UNFORGETTABLE memories!

  • WMG...........hate it so much. Thanks for ruining user generated content. All you greedy corporate morons cheat artists and audiences off money and spend more money on lawyer fees rather than making things better.

  • How lovely! I flew Pan Am the last time in December 1972. Beautiful memories you've got. Thanks for sharing them with all of us <3

  • WMG sucks. The big record companies just don't get it.

  • that's when flight attendents had class!

  • @strafrag1 and passengers too!

  • @SpurrierTwo thumbs up to that!

  • 2:50 Hey! I live here! ~ Aww don't worry our country (Singapore) is now a first world n developed country. Not like the pic seen in the video =)

  • I was only a child back when these photos were taken...but all of you Pan Am Stewardesses made me feel like a king at 7 years old!

The greatest ladies on the greatest airline.

  • Great video! It was a different experience when I was hired by Pan Am in 1988 but there were still some good times to be had. Fun to watch and compare. I was JFK & LHR based till 1991. Although I flew only at the very end, it was a privilege to be part of a legend.

  • What a wonderful look back to when flying was fun. Pan Am was a big deal for me as a youngster. The first 747 from JFK happened to coincide with one of trips to to go watch airplanes with my Dad. I spotted the enormous new airplane and asked a gate agent if I could have a tour. He happily escorted my Dad and me through the entire length of the aircraft. I remember the spiral stairs and lounge. This was a big deal for a young kid. The memory has stayed with me all these years. Thanks to Pan Am.

  • back in the day when they were called Stewardess now its Flight Attendant or Flight Crew..... geees I wish the airlines today were like they were back in the day.....

  • I finished my flight attendant training Jan '73 in Miami, then based in London (then laid off with the fuel crisis). Many of these faces look familiar. Am now a member of World Wings, a group of ex-Pan Am employees. Good way to find old colleagues. What a great job; I am now a physician but still nostalgic about the old days...

  • How bittersweet to see images of this once great American corporation. How thrilling to recall a dozen family vacations that began in Clipper Class. I feel sorry for people who will never experience how air travel *used* to be. It will never be that good again.

You must have had a fantastic career with Pan Am! Know that the countless passengers who flew with you remember the service, the style, the class that was Pan Am. Thank you. There will never be another airline like her.

  • I went to Vietnam in 1969. In 1970 I took a 7 day leave and bought a Pan Am ticket home to Los Angeles. It was a 707 and I had a wonderful trip to LA and back to Vietnam. The Pan Am crews were wonderful and I will always remember that round trip!

  • Very nice compilation of a proud and memorable six years. :)

  • Back when flying had class and you were treated like a king.

Today its just like a greyhound bus that happens to have wings..

  • @BaconJimmy

Back when flying had class and you were treated like a king.

Today its just like a greyhound bus that happens to have wings...

Flying truly sucks today, fees for baggage , fees for food

    long lines , tiny seats

Rather go by car or train, that is how awful it is today

or boat if I was going overseas

It even sucks on 1st class, still have the baggage fees

    unbelivable.

In the old days even couch class was good.

  • @The391956 Yes I remember it distinctly, how they would roll out a red carpet and call you by last name and even help you cut your steak if you were too tired from sitting. It was so great 65 years ago. Today it is so awful

  • @The391956 As a second generation Airline employee I couldn't agree with this statement more. There was a time when people dressed up.. treated flying like a privilege. Nowadays i see people getting on board airplanes wearing clothing i couldn't imagine seeing a homeless person wearing. No class all "me me, i Deserve". In a lot of ways its the Governments fault. De-regulation was the worst thing to happen to the Airline industry. Began the downfall of service competition for Fare competition.

  • @The391956 hi jimmy, you were treated like a king because you paid a kings ransom to fly. i am a flight attendant and really long for the old days of customer service. it's not our fault. blame the greed of the CEO's. most of my co-workers are fine people, but we are limited to what we can offer because of management. sad but true. have a good day!

  • Faaantastic! Beautiful pictures. So you really went around the world in 6 years. Fanstastic.

Athought times have changed this video gives me motivation on my ongoing commercial pilot studies!

    Thank you!

  • id like to thank you pan am stewardess for making my flights so enjoyable although i was a little girl i always looked forward to my coloring book and crayons and the little clipper wings.

  • I think I choose the wrong job?!

  • Lovely video on Pan American. I met a former PAA stewardess (still attractive though she is in her 60's) a few months ago and read her book (her memoirs about PAA). This gives me even more of a glimpse into the glamourous airline.

  • Wow, must have been a lot of fun. You were quite the hottie, too. ;)

  • I so would like to know what the music is called??

  • great to see you made good use of your time, travel benefits while working for the airline, taking some great pics.. ! nice vid.. thx for sharing!

  • United Airlines should do to show the airplane painted on this color at once.

  • Great pic and I'm sure great memories, ashame you had to change the music. but I've heard "come fly with me" on other people's videos.

It's ridiculous not as if your making a profit from the song!

  • Valerie,

Those were the days. I've born in 1968 but I recognize that it was better than today. Regards from Brazil and thanks for share with us.

  • My wife worked at PA's reservations and then a tRockefeller Center CTO and later at 80 E 42nd St. from the late 60's to the mid 70's. I worked at the AR ticket office on 49th St. in front of the ice skating rink. We traveled to Tahiti (& Moorea) about the same time you did. We stayed at the Intercontinental and at the Bali Hai. We must have crossed paths. Also in Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, London, Paris... Those golden airline days will never come back. It was good to have known them.

  • Stuff the original Frank Sinatra music, the current dubbing is beautiful, whats the track?

  • Thanks for sharing this. What a wonderful time you had. And yeah, you were hot.

  • Valerie, Kelly Cusack set up a website called everything Pan Am. He was an employee at Customer Care at JFK Worldport. Nostalgic photos of the old Pan Am and of the Worldport and some employees. When I went to apply for a job with Pan Am, which was a few weeks before that sad day in the early 1990's, I was living in Virginia and applied for a position at Dulles, They decided I was to go to the PA Call Centre in Alexandria but then closure came. Uniforms were black then. not blue. Thnks, Willie

  • you have awesome hair. very pretty.

  • Nice video

  • Yes, we are happy to have stewardess. to get to the other end of the world. We can not find friends everywhere. The heart must be open and love for other cultures and peoples.

    "Come Fly With Me"

That is a nice video. Memories.

A LOT OF LOVE AND LIGHT AND PEACE

FOR ALL THE PEOPLE, FOR ALL THE ANIMALS FOR ALL THE UNIVERSE.

    THANKS

  • Brilliant clip! Do you still fly?

  • WOW, thanks for sharing this!!! Very special, indeed! Don't know if you ever flew to BUH, but it always was a special time when the PA flight was arriving to the OTP! More like a true symbol of freedom landing in a dark, closed-to-the-entire- world society during the '80s! It was indeed very special! Thanks to all your hard work for making this very special !

  • Amazing! One of the reasons I started to fly was because of people like you! THANK YOU! An amazing journey and am so happy that you shared your memories with us. I have been flying since 2000 and although the destinations are truly amazing, the flying part has certainly changed alot!

would love to hear more! get in touch!

  • Thanks for posting this, Valerie. I am a Pan Am passenger from many years ago. I was flying since I was a child on Pan Am, usually on the Johannesburg-New York route via Rio or Dakar. I remember the 707, 747, and the 747SP. Many thanks to the inflight stewardess, who twice had upgraded me to Clipper Class on those very long flights. You look familiar, I think I must have flown with you once back to South Africa when I was a child on the 707. Pan Am was #1. Later on I worked for Swissair. RIP

  • Thanks for taking us along. Truely the Golden Age of flying...By the way you gals were hot! Sorry but couldn't resist saying that

  • THIS COMPANY HAD THIS SPECIAL AURA..

Only Air France comes near this...

  • I just bought a new PANAM Bag at THE LOOK STORE Dot Com, it's signature style and logo... AMazing!

  • aaaahhh, back to the days when flying was fun and the STEWARDESSE'S WERE HOT!

  • Such a shame they took "Come Fly With Me" off, it suited it so perfectly

None the less, a lovely video.

  • love it. I fly for QANTAS AIRWAYS as a Flight Attendant and only here to many great stories about the old days!

  • VISIT MY PAN AM CHANNEL!

  • Great airline, great (and beautiful & friendly) stewardesses, everyone dressed up to fly, they had the little cologne bottles in the bathrooms, etc.

I was a young boy, but just loved these times and especially the stewardesses.

JUST a little different from the angry hogs and Steve Slater-types of today.

  • Brilliant video and such beautiful music. It looks like you had such a wonderful time as a Flight Attendant with Pan Am. Greetings from Scotland.

  • Flying with United for years (pilot) and yes we do suck, sometimes I look at pictures and videos of old airlines and it just seems like it was a lot more fun. An old friend of mine was an attendant for ATA, she says it was wild in the 80s... Either way, we continue on flying, some in the cabin, some like me in the cockpit. Would have love to have flown the 747 back in those days, still good today don't get me wrong, but something seems different, what might that be?

  • @07Valerie FRIENDS, FRIENDS, ALWAYS FRIENDS, WONDERFULL.

  • @07Valerie FRIENDS, FRIENDS, ALWAYS FRIENDS, WONDERFULL MEMORIES.

  • @07Valerie

I graduated on 02. Jan 1972 in MIA. Was based in MIA and came to know Zoe Hirschfield well. Retired from UAL however in 2003 - based in HNL- LHR over time. I am also an RN and teach nursing at a community college in Fl. My husband Seamus was the "backbone" of the 36th St. Flight Academy - operations, etc. We loved going to work for 20 years!

    Thanks for the memories,

    Dona Swanson Browne #91933 - UAL #144287

  • Wow... this is amazing! Too bad flying is not nearly as glamorous now days as it used to be.

  • Great video of a amazing airline. Pan Am we will miss you.

  • I totally relate (Delta), I wish I had taken more pictures of when I used to fly. I did take something away from my great trips and experiences. The best wife in the whole world...

  • Valerie, Thanks for sharing. Nice slide show. It appears you enjoyed your stint with them very much; you and your friends seemed to always be having a good time. I flew on Pan Am once, when I was very young and don't remember too much about it. But from what I hear from people whom I sit next to on my regular United these days, it was a great airline to fly with and will probably never be replaced as far as service is concerned. Regards, Mac

  • What a life that must have been, I can only imagine.

  • A vanished era. Lovely little video**==

  • Wow............your photo essay went over very big! I guess it shows how much people miss how it used to be. I used to love to travel...........I avoid it now.

  • A fantastic and lovely video. I once flew on a Pan Am DC-8, named "Clipper Midnight Sun." Thanks for the video.

  • what a nice video! at one time PAN AM was the airline to fly. you paved the way for me. I am now a flight attendant for American. Thanks for the memories.

  • Snif snif!!! I flow with PanAm when I was a baby!!! I miss it!! (Also TWA) RIP both!!

    Nice video ;)

  • thanks for your kindness and hard work , we will never forget how romantic and fun flying used to be.........we will never see your kind of service again, i was born in 1964 and flew alot, i have a six year old boy, who will never know how great it was tofly pan am in the late 60s and early 70s, consider writing a book , for histories sake, i bet it would be an awsome read....:)

  • Thank you for your kind reply to my last comment. Airline Travel during that era was a privilege that people saved for. Most treated their stewardess with the respect she, or he (since most were female at that time), deserved having earned their "Wings" by hard work and study to qualify. Today's passengers treat Flight Attendants as if they are the enemy.

  • What is the name of the song in this video?

  • My first flight from Hong Kong to USA was by Pan Am 747. At that time, I was only 4 years old.

It was wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the airline had been closed down already.

  • I love you guys! Very Sexy!

  • It was a great and even somewhat glamourous job in those days.Good experience for the passenger as well.Everyone was happy and excited to get on a plane in those days. You did it at the right time.

  • A great Airline!

  • omg,..ill bet u guys had SOOOO much fun!!!

  • Nice video. I flew on a PAA 747 from London (Heathrow) to JFK in July, 1970, coming home from a family vacation. It was an unforgettable experience. I had been reading about the 747 for a couple of years and was almost beside myself when I saw we were going to be flying home on one. I remember it was a great flight back when flying was special and not now when it's like taking a Greyhound bus with all the accompanying misery. Bring back some regulation and make flying fun again!

  • I flew Pan Am First Class once LAX-JFK. I sat in the front row of the 747 (one seat) right hand side, I had an almost full on front view of the take off, it was amazing. I remember the flight attendants greeted me and the other pax at the a/c door with a tray of mimosa's. I'm so glad I had a chance to experience Pan Am in First Class on a transcon flight

  • Very nice video Valerie. Do you ever miss it?

  • I was on the first picture taken in Miami in 1970 at the beginning of this film !

So were my room mates Mary Faith Grymes and Holly Peterson (Washington).Could someone help me find them again please?

Denise( from France at the time )based in Miami then London

  • @denise3151

    Thanks for your comment.

Do you have any photos from your flying days?

    ~Valerie

  • @07Valerie Yes I do have photos from my flighing days but I wouldn't know how to make such a lovely film of them just as you did....

  • @denise3151 If you ever wish to find anyone in 2011, the 1st place to look is Facebook! Facebook has most of the world Online. Facebook has achieved what every other has tried and failed. Facebook has tons of people online! Good Luck finding your friends. If only the technology today were available in 1970. Once you find your friends, make sure you never let them go!

  • Very nice video. Miss Pan Am alot. I flew Pan Am in some of the last years of operation. From Oslo to London on the 727 and from London to New York and back again on the 747. This was in 1988 and 1990. Happy to have been so lucky to fly such an historic airline.

  • What you need to know is that these are the very same 'stewardesses' that are flying today. Go senior mamas!

  • Awesome video. Looks like a fun life. They don't make stewardesses like that anymore.

  • Hi Valerie! The video is fantastic! Do you know Buenos Aires city, Argentine? PanAm was very important in international travel to sudamerica.

I love PanAm History, although I did not have the ability to travel because I was a too tiny.

    Best Regards,

    Guille.

  • What a wonderful video. Makes me feel kinda sad seeing it. I remember when I was a little girl, I wanted to be a stewardess. It seemed so glamorous and fun. Those were the days... Thank you so much for sharing this video :)

  • that was the best time to fly i remeber flying in the 80's and 90's best times if ya ask me makes me wanna go back......

  • the song is Set ME FREE (Jam & spoon)

  • 大相撲の表彰の時、いつもここの会社の方が日本語で表彰されてました。

  • I want song's name!!!

  • I may have been on one of your flights. I flew on a couple Pan Am 747's in 1975 between LAX and Hong Kong I think. I was a litle too young to remember exactly but walking on the tarmac to the stairs to board that HUGE plane that night is one of my most cherished memories.

  • wonderful video...i am a flight attendant and its still fun but it seems like it was better in your day...

  • In the 80's I was one frequent flyer of Pan Am,as a member of Clipper Club,me and my family we used a lot the services of Pan Am from Brazil to the U.S. and between U.S. And Europe. When I go to Miami I always visit the Pan Am Aware Store.I have several memorabilia from Pan Am,even a original wing of flight attendants.

To day,20th February I'm doing 14 Years working for civil aviation.7 years as a flight attendant and more 7 years as ground staff.Nowadays I'm a tecnical Flight Dispatcher.

  • @corujao15

    Thanks for the interesting comments.

I admire the videos on your channel.

You've got a great BIG personality. NICE!

    ~Valerie

  • Lovely , ,Maravilhoso , que lindo video que vice fez ...Wonderfull video.

  • @SergioFormoso

    Many thanks.

    ~Valerie

  • Did you happen to know a Pan Am stew named Karen Fox? She's my cousin and married a Pan Am pilot

  • @hughjoe

Do you know where your cousin was based?

    ~Valerie

  • Back in the mid 60s, I flew with a company called "Global Presentations".

It was owned by a former PanAm Pilot, last name of "Carrol", and a few other PA pilots. We had 2 DC7s and I was the Purser/AC Mech.

We were know as "The Flying Showcase" because we would set up the interior like a showroom, and take large companys on tours around the world to show their products. Also took "rock groups" on tours. Stayed mostly at Intercontental Hotels. Went to a lot of partys at Q Gardens! Great memorie

  • Your video touched me deeply. My late parents knew many pilots and flight attendants from that era and they used to take this small boy out to Seattle-Tacoma Intl. Airport so I could see their planes up close. Absolutely Wonderful!!!

  • I was in Tehran at the time of the fall of the Shah and so very lucky to be on the next to the last flight out on a PanAm 747SP.

  • What piece is this playing?

  • @m173627

Generic music owned by You Tube - available on "audio swap" button when you want to edit your own videos ... This particular music was located in the section called "instrumentals". I don't remember the name.

    ~Valerie

  • I was a Pan Am stewardess the exact same years as you, but based in Miami. Your video really touched me. My father and brother were Pan Am pilots based in New York at same time as you. Did you know Capt. Selken? Thanks for the treat.

  • Great video. Thank you for sharing what looks like such a fun time of your life.

  • Valerie the music fits so well with your video it brings back memorys as a airline kid my mom worked for Continental and dad for American during the 60's & 70's , looks like you had great times as a stewardress, thanks again .

  • @gmancaruso

    Thanks.

    ~Valerie

  • Hey I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video! I don't know why but I found it quite emotional. You obviously really enjoyed your time as a stewardess and that makes me happy. I flew Pan Am once when I was a young boy moving from the UK to New York.

  • @aerris

    Yes.

    Wonderful times & wonderful memories.

    ~Valerie

  • I flew on Pan Am twice when I was a child. It was then that I knew I wanted to be a Flight Attendant. Best decision I ever made.

  • @Ludsy2001

Thank you very much for the comment.

    ~Valerie

  • GREAT job... Thank you for sharing... If it's not BOEING WE AINT GOING...!

    Love it...

  • @texasjetman

    Thank you.

    ~Valerie

  • Great job 07Valerie... as I can only hope the 07, means Boeing 707...

I am sorry they made you change your music, but no matter what, it still is very enjoyable... thank you for posting it... build another one soon...

  • This really brought back some lovely memories! I worked the CTO in LIS from 1969 to 1976.....best job I ever had!

  • @pisca531

    You made me smile.

    Thank you.

    ~Valerie

  • Yea what a Ride we all had working for Pan Am. Its a Shame Airlines will never be the same.

  • Thank you.

    ~Valerie

  • Thanks, Valerie! What an incredible experience that must have been. My dad kept you in the air (JFK/Jet Center mechanic '60 - '91). My first flight was JFK-Barbados on a 707. God I miss that airline...

  • Thanks.

  • By the way... Are you the Valerie that Steve Winwood is singing about back in 1982?

  • @jacfred

    Ha-Ha

    No

  • Really, no joke intended. I just wanted you to chuckle and smile for a little while. I just think that when a famous artist uses a given name it's special for that person! Sorry if I hurt you.

  • You're fine.

  • Being offered a position as a flight attendant back then was like winning the lottery, except the money wasn't there. Every young girl dreamed of becoming one. I had a HS classmate that became a TWA FA back in the 70's. She left that position to get married to an older business man after four years. They divorced after six. The irony was that she couldn't get her old job back. With any airline! I'm sure she has fantastic memories also, but they stopped when she got married.

  • @jacfred

    Thanks for your comment.

    You are certainly correct.

    No money.

  • Thnaks for sharing, Valerie. I had the pleasure of travelling Pan Am during the 1970s. That's when airlines served real meals rather than small packages of peanuts. I miss Pan Am. And now it seems we'll no longer by flying North by Northwest.

  • GOD BLESS ALL THOSE OF PAN AM

  • @loron91423

    Thank you

  • Thanks for sharing your memories.

  • @christo1961

    Thank you

  • Wonderful video, thank you so much for posting. For a 25 year old the only connection to that is videos like this, I wish I had gotten to fly Pan Am in the golden days.

  • @KimmurielBaenre

    Thank you

  • Nice video. My father worked for Intercontinental hotels so I flew Pan Am many times around the same era (Mid 70's). I especially remember the stewardess's giving the safety and courtesy announcements in three or four languages, live. Quite a difference from today's canned videos.
