if you get closer, would the whale like bump into your kayak? man that would be cool if you could stay there the last part was the most interesting part..lol but yeah i would probly move too..
d'oh you are so lucky you live there! I would give anything to live in Washington/BC at least half the year...my mom says the winters aren't quite as enjoyable as the summers though :P
freakin amazing video. i laughed my ass off at the end when you were like ok, thats a lil too close. i prob woulda freaked out too if i was there as well. very good footage, amazing quality video. felt like i was on the kayak with you.
Well done. You may know our little shack - "The Shady Nook" built in the '20's by (great grandpa) John Haugen. My family and I (Jamie Imus) were down the week before Labor Day and were shocked to see them. Personally, I hadn't seen them down that far in almost 25 years.
Thanks for the video and thanks to the whales for the free show!!
We first saw this 5-whale pod on September 1. Very cool and highly unusual to see the whales just off Flapjack Point where we have a beach house (little red cabin). Looks like you shot this FABULOUS video first from west side of inlet and then from east side of inlet. Is that right? Wondering if you're our neighbor on Gravelly Beach Loop.
Great experience! I'll bet your heart was pumping with adrenalin! Thanks for posting. I was in my kayak in Dyes Inlet with 8 whales a few years ago. I had my "splash proof" digital camera and got many close-ups by just staying still and letting them swim close. Sadly, many power boats from around the area were stalking them. I was swamped by wakes of several big boats that powered right past me as the whales tried to swim into the narrows. Lost the photos and have nothing but memories! Thank You
me and my wife and daughter were kayaking on Saturday 9/12, off Boston Harbor at the mouth of Budd Inlet, about 1.5 miles from your location, we didn't see any Orca :( but it was a beautiful weather day though!
WOW!!! This is incredible footage!! Our beach house is also on flapjack point. We saw our cabin towards the end of the video. This is so exciting! We'll have to get down there soon and check it out. The whales are just beautiful.
