i think the decided to change it due to player fatigue. I noticed the Miami Masters final is no longer best of 5 but of three, so i presume they cut it to help prevent fatigue

I thought the TMC final was best 3 of 5 sets, not 2 of 3. Federer won in straights in the 2006 and 2007 finals, and Nalbandian won in 5 in 2005.
