@blackmesa25 Thanks, i plan to repeat that experiment with somewhat thicker wire and higher current allowed to see if that's gonna make any difference.

Yeah, it could be some sort of steam related.. as the melted copper hits the surface of the water, it may make a bubble of steam below that is heated so quickly, making a bang when released, but still, it seems a odd.. it shouldn't be so powerful, i still suspect a chemic reaction.. i'll try that again with changed polarity, to see if it happens again.

The whistling is form the leidenfrost effect but the bang might be a steam explosion gr8 vid :)
