  • I like this idea and think it's exactly what I need for starting our vegetable garden plants. We don't have the best direct sunlight situation in our house as we have big trees that block it. I haven't had much success starting plants indoors.

I am going to use our son's old terraium and setup a little started station. This way I can use our basement instead of our living room window. Thanks for the tips.

  • Dude your a faggot

  • how are the turnips doing dude ??

  • Im goin' to blow up some trash cans! :)

  • Ron Paul 2012

  • I know this video was uploaded in 2009, but how did things turns out? Any follows ups?

  • really wonderful ideas. thanks for sharing.

  • You turnip!

  • i just finished making the garbage can greenhouse. what did you do for drainage?

  • @NackRoss If you plan on using miracle grow or other chemicals you will need to get proper drainage. I have a reservoir of plastic containers upside down at the bottom to keep a "figurative" underground pond. The idea is the plants should do a great job absorbing water themselves... and I want the roots to grow deep. 2 Ideas: 1: put a hose in and use elevation as a siphon effect. 2: Get a Pool side attachment for hoses also think about how high you want it from the bottom for sitting water

  • Cfl 6500k light bulbs are better for your tomatos growth. And they wont make your trash can hot. When ever you want it to flower and give off a tomato use a 3500k

  • you should hook up an atmega or something and program it to take temperatures and log them and change the light cycles to increase growth speeds

  • Thank you so much for sharing all the great info

  • i would cut a hole big enough to glue some plexy -glass for a nice view from the outside of the can. Lifting that light every time must be a pain in the ass when you want to just "look" at the plant and check progress... just my 2 cents..

  • Not quite what I was looking for but i like the computer fan idea as well as the lights on a rheostat.

  • if you use a lower watt bulb you will have less heat i use a 5 watt floresant bulb and i maintain a temp of 70 dagres in side.

  • isnt the electricity used really expensive?

  • Disclaimer: I only watched this video for entertainment purposes. I do not intend to grow weed. hahahhahhahhahhahhahah

  • for giant plants try monster plants or something like that its called someone grew like a corn cob 25 inches long

  • to grow PLANTS in maaan, haha right on buddy!

  • bullshit u grow weed man lol

  • @cruzin33 No. I did use howto videos from youtube on that topic to study indoor growth. Because that was the best source of information. But I don't grow that myself.

  • @burntbit lol i used the same sort of videos to grow indoors because they really know there stuff

  • @burntbit Same. I've watched so many weed growing videos but never plan to grow it myself. For starters I can't even go near the stuff without getting a headache.

  • @DaveLowe28 I've known people who smoke such. And it gives me severe head aches as well. By the way, your comment insinuates that that's what this video is about. I found that those videos on youtube contain more useful information on indoor growing then anything else... but that is not my purpose in indoor green houses.

  • the only reason we allllll click this video is because we wanna grow weed indoors :)

  • I need your help man... I have 8 citrus plant... they are about 2-3 years old... they were doing great I would keep them out all summer and bring them in when it got cooler... but now I move and the place I could keep them indoor for the winter is a basement with no sunlight... I have a few incandescent growing light bulds on a 10 hour timed cycle... but its not working man... I noticed some leafs and a lot of new growth falling off... help me dude...

  • @escupulario I think you may need more lighting. There is a balance to it. I think the rule of thumb is 100 Watt light bulb per 4 cubic feet. Also once you have enough light don't place them too close to the plant. If you can have reflective walls around the plant that will help the light balance out evenly over the plant. Use white walls if you can... many people use aluminium.

  • grow weed

  • yaaa i going to make a veg garden too..a happy kind. thanx for givin good info

  • Thanks for sharing the useful information. All the best for your experiment ^^

  • Great little set ups, thanks for sharing...am just planning and setting up my first indoor veg garden..which lights did you use in your fishtank? cheers :0)

  • "Zoo Med Daylight Blue Bulbs" from petsmart. You can buy them online. Get the 100 Watt light bulbs. Any more than 100 watts and it's too much for small containers... you'll dry out and kill everything.

  • cheers :0)
