I must say I prefer Gheorghiu in this role, and in many other. Netrebko's insging is not bad, but I find her acting a little bit ''overdone'' and too ridiculous. I know it is comedy, but her acting is still without much taste.
Wow! I totally forgot to compliment D'arcangelo...well, I've already said pretty much everything on the other clips. Love his Mozart, love his Donizetti - he basically kicks ass. I love this silly side of him, too - he's usually so dark!
Finally! A version of this particular duet that's good! Only one tops this one for me, so far, and that is Kathleen Battle and Enzo Dara in 1989 with Pavarotti.
Well, I guess most of her overt sexuality detracting from her performances is the directors' faults, because in this one I do not get slutty vibes off of her at all. In fact, she's delightful in this. Maybe because she's smiling for once!

Great interpretation! Netrebko's lush voice fits like a glove to Adina and her coloratura is much better than usual. Her piano singing is also superb. D'Arcangelo is impeccable as Dottore Dulcamara. I have seen this video complete and it's one of the best Opera videos I ever saw! They captured all the gaiety, humour and (yes) simple depth of this opera and its roles. Besides, who can resist to Netrebko's incredibly funny and charming Adina?

Wow! I totally forgot to compliment D'arcangelo...well, I've already said pretty much everything on the other clips. Love his Mozart, love his Donizetti - he basically kicks ass. I love this silly side of him, too - he's usually so dark!

Finally! A version of this particular duet that's good! Only one tops this one for me, so far, and that is Kathleen Battle and Enzo Dara in 1989 with Pavarotti.

Well, I guess most of her overt sexuality detracting from her performances is the directors' faults, because in this one I do not get slutty vibes off of her at all. In fact, she's delightful in this. Maybe because she's smiling for once!

Great interpretation! Netrebko's lush voice fits like a glove to Adina and her coloratura is much better than usual. Her piano singing is also superb. D'Arcangelo is impeccable as Dottore Dulcamara. I have seen this video complete and it's one of the best Opera videos I ever saw! They captured all the gaiety, humour and (yes) simple depth of this opera and its roles. Besides, who can resist to Netrebko's incredibly funny and charming Adina?

If by "fine acting" you mean dancing around the stage with your arms flailing, then yes this is acting of the finest quality :)
The singing is fantastic though.

This is way better than her Puritani. I hope she improves more. I used to be one of her biggest retractors, but I like this performance. Brava :)
