  • The man whose gut expanded

  • Ile tell of a newbee Fall fan, whos head expanded up his own arse, Originally, a Bejesus n Mary Chainlink fence, now extorting his own nonsensicle clutter , with nil opinions on far too many M.E.S, recordings, proporting to have a very valid, articulate, opinion on all our favourite tracks!. Wach out 4 the wee procrastinating prat!Give it no quater!

  • @MegaKevorkian you sound like an obnoxious twat

  • @TheVascoPaiva That may be so, but pray tell, what great nuggets of future clutter, and comments that warrent such merrit of poor talent from yourself, will you unleash on us unsusspecting Fall fans?. Im still waiting Diago Varicoso Pappavia!

  • @TheVascoPaiva Im glad you think so Vasco Poopshoot!. I can live with obnoxious twat!.Can you live with yourself???. Expand yourself!

  • @MegaKevorkian bite me

  • @TheVascoPaiva So, you havnt replied to my last re MARK!. Tell me, where do you want me to bite you?. On the rump deary!. Let me know, and we might be able to cum to some masokistic solution, hey?

  • I love the way that this song sounds like it is going far too fast.

  • The man whose face pored with sweat !

Who turned that bloody ceiling fan off ? LOL

  • I'd feel like an elitist asshole going to see this band, just being honest.

  • Comment removed

  • the fall

  • HAHAHAH i was on another page listening to this in the background and i thought the thing at the end was andy milonakis.

  • socking beats!

  • thanks for uploading man.

  • this song is about Marc Riley

  • JD infuences :D

  • CASIO VL-1 !

  • Mark E Smith.. if you scroll through youtube and read your fans comments, please visit San Francisco soon and message me on this account for time and place. K thnks. You should tour with The Chameleons UK and maybe some local Bay Area band like Romeo Void as an opening act. I wish they would have a post punk event at Golden Gate Park which would be like woodstock for people over the age of 35 (but all ages welcome who respect that era in rock). 2 or 3 days of bands forgotten.

  • Oops a few grammatic errors in last post.

  • can't see what all the fuss is about.

  • @LambCouplet well listen again with some headphones on you will

  • @LambCouplet get someone to torture your soul a bit more, might help

  • outstanding

  • a fairly sensible song ;-)

  • where the fuck is the version of 'Garden' they do at the hacienda? why the fuck has no one posted it yet. these things make me angry.

  • Perfect , Mark E. smith is a prophet.

  • @manolohaxe explain.

  • Great work on the lights, seems like it was a great gig.

  • thanks

    fantastic

  • My favourite Fall song possibly. (although there are one hundred and seventy six other contenders). Best era too but all of the Fall is something akin to heaven. Sounds like...over..over...

  • maybe the best one.that or cb

  • mullett time!

  • I like MES's shirts from this period.

  • Mark E Smith- complete legend!

  • ...turn that bloody blimey space invader off...

  • Arrogant British vocalists pwn your soul.

  • sorry, sonic youth may ruffle the cuffs of certain people, but they are not fit to touch the hem of HIS raiment.

However, There are some great covers..The Barcellona Pavillion's cover of C.R.E.E.P is ................

  • Is Bis on DVD already?!

  • any one see the fall .new order and the smiths at the royal court in liverpool on 8Th february 1986 o and john cooper clarke just a fantastic night

  • I did. It was a gig for Liverpool Council that had been sacked by Thatcher? Missed New Order , Had to get tickets from a scalper. Bit of haggling for the tickets. The bloke thought I came all the way from London, cost me a 10er. Didn't tell him I was from Australia, could have cost me a fuckin fortune!

Morresy got the shits because some girl ripped his shirt off. Also Barney played guitar with some guy and they all got cans of beer slung at them, they were doing "Maggies Farm". good times!

  • From the info: "PERVERTED BY LANGUAGE BIS/LIVE AT LEEDS" - This performance is from the Hacienda........ wasn't the Hacienda in Manchester?@?!?!?

  • The Perverted By Language part of the dvd is a compilation of videos, interviews and live performances. The Live At Leeds half is all shot at Leeds University in March 1981. THIS video is from the first part.

  • man alive, i just started to cry 3 minutes into this :-s i think it was so good my brain lost it completely :-o

  • This is one of the best Fall videos on YouTube great performance of a great song!

  • Still got this single.

  • has n e 1ever done a cover of the fall?

  • Pavement was practically a Fall cover band, and did occasionally cover actual Fall songs.

  • Sonic Youth coverded this:

My new house, Psyco Mafia, Victoria and Rowche Rumble.. good stuff as well!!

  • This was the first song by The Fall I ever heard and it flipped my wig off!

  • its quite like math rock

  • I thought math were more like Baroque and classical .

  • no

its like math rock with the techno sound and the tempo change

  • the fall 1983,geil !!!!!!

  • mark e. smith at his peak

  • B4 the rejected demo tape trap fake Lou Reed Yank accent encroached upon the Hip Priest / J. Totalle.... yep 4 sure US'.

  • So now we know who'se head has actually expanded / LOL as they say, Mark :-)

  • hu?

  • speachless as allways with Mr Mark

  • mark.e. 1983 genial!!!!!!

  • "Turn the bloody space invader off". Quality song from a true genius. Thanks.

  • It's a Casio VL-1

Also used to better effect by Trio.

  • 1st live band i ever saw was lisening to im kurious orange and bend sinister 1st time in over 15years and its still so fresh in 2008

  • @BonyEsmith I know it's two completly different genres and I like both, but like the Progressive RUSH (band). Mark E Smith and Neil Peart are both visionaries who seemed to channel future events. though some may claim coincidental or self prophetic society, these 2 have clearly written things that pretain more to todays events then stuff they wrote in the 80s. Just like the film director Lucas with THX1138 Were they trying to warn us or desensitize us. "The world may never know" -Mr Owl

  • @BonyEsmith

i think i read somewhere that Brix came up with all that 'space invader' shit. but on the flip side, he could be taking a snide dig at his wife, which would be something he would do. (although i quite like her...but you marry MES, what do you expect?)

  • @AB3369 I concur

  • CORDUROY00 this is surely live at The Hacienda Manchester 83 and not leeds?...unless i have a doppelganger.??? :-)

  • You're right. It is at the Hacienda. The dvd is called " PERVERTED BY LANGUAGE BIS/LIVE AT LEEDS" There's another set of songs on the dvd from a Leeds show.

  • Thanks for the reply CORDUROY00, weird thing is, i've had the Perverted by language bis video for about 25 yrs but soon after i bought it my budgie wrecked the (pink-spotted?) cover and it was replaced by a spare "how i wrote elastic man 7" single cover ( shocking i know!! ), and i never knew there was any Leeds stuff on there, thanks for the update, much appreciated.... now...where's that bloody budgie??....

  • i think the live stuff is just on the dvd re-issue though - don't quote me !

  • Think you're right mate!.. thanks for that :-)

  • Love this....great memories of the Hacienda... im at the front in the long green coat drumming with no sticks hahahaha!!!! thanks!!!!!!!!!

  • See, this is the reason the Casio VL-Tone was made.

  • lol right the drummer can't keep up with it...

    "da da da" is better...

  • But the out-of-sync rhythm makes it that much more interesting! Well, in my opinion anyway.

And while Da Da Da is indeed fun, it doesn't have the raw strength this track has.

  • I agree it adds a tension to the sound. Gives a sense of unease to the listener.

  • brilliant.

  • There have only been 2 geniuses to grace the world of rock and pop. Mark E.Smith is one. The other is Captain Beefheart. Difficult, contrary and slightly insane but geniuses.

  • truest thing EVEr written on youtube

  • Why thank you.

  • but Mark E continues his massive productivity to the presant day and onwards....

  • @grecian300 I was just thinking the same thing. Well said!

  • @grecian300 this comment should have more thumbs up! great list of favourites

  • fuck genius he is, legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think I might have been there (I think). I remember going to a gig at The Venue in London, early 1983 (pre Brix). I remember them doing this track and the gig being videod. The concert was quite lacklustre - with crap tracks like "Smile" & "Success Expectation" (so bad it was never released). Note the crowd isn't getting into it and the band don't seem to have their heart in it either. I saw them about a year later at Surrey University - and it was 10 times better.

  • sounds like The Twilight Zone!

  • brilliant lyrics i love this to pieces

  • This is my number 7 all time favourite song. Classic. "The man whose head expanded was corrupted by sociological memory man, could not get a carrier bag for love nor money" is one of the best lines in contemporary rock music as far as I'm concerned, along with "excuse me while I kiss the sky" (Hendrix) and "she has the universe reclining in her hair" (Marc Bolan)

  • What about,

"Now I guess I'll have to tell 'em

    I aint got no cerebellum,"

    on The Ramones "Teenage Lobotomy."

  • thank you for sharing this with me. the tune is dizzying....

  • and as song titles go....!!

  • great song and posting, remember this old video well......
