Blood is not consumed by your bloodstream, but it adds to your blood volume and continues to function as blood. You can verify this fact by searching for the words "blood is a tissue transplant" in the WT CD-Rom library. They acknowledge that a blood transfusion is the same as an organ transplant. Organ transplants are allowed even though the organs contain blood... why is that?

21 - just wanted to add that the only passage in the New Testament that does mention abstaining from blood is done so to promote harmony in the early growing church. this was due to the Gentiles trying to adhere to their old pagan practices blood drinking (strength) which was quite offensive to the Jews who were attached to the Mosaic laws/dietary laws prior to Christ. Paul wrote to the Gentilesin the church (in Acts 15:29) & says do these things & YOU WILL DO WELL...(NOT "you will be saved")

So I don't know were you are getting 50,000 from. Infact, TRALI occurs in about one in 5000 transfusions, which means there are at least 5300 TRALI reactions per year in the US alone, and something like 500 deaths.

In any event...The facts are that blood transufusion complications cost anywhere between 5,000 to 50,000 deaths each year. Maintaining a blood bank is very expensive. The patients transfused with blood are in the hospital longer recovering. All hospitals are moving to bloodless surgery and Emergency medicine because it makes sense and saves lives and money. You can thank the JW for insisting that we have better surgical techniques!

I am sure this mom is just heart broken now. 2 things-1: God had a reason for some of us to have the same blood type. 2: the jws allow organ transplants, and all vital organs have blood in them. Hearts, livers, kidneys,ect., do not go thru a cleansing process, flushed out if you will. My thoughts are that the primary scripture that the WT uses is the one in Acts 15 where, actually, circumcision and not blood was the main issue. Nobody ever died over the circumcision issue but, regretably, the same cannot be said of the blood issue. Transfusions should, indeed, never be routine because of the risks they involve, but losing one's life for a requirment that is not biblical? The sacrifice is too great!
I was assuming that you were of christiandom because if you were morman, you would not be posting these videos. They do not add to these behaviors. Where ever you hear Christ preached and the free forgiveness of sins and the imputation of HIS righteousness you have Christs church. Weather it be Presbyterian, Baptist or Lutheran. Your personal relationship is not in isolation from others you must minister to others in the context of Christ's body.

Brian's appeal to emotion could lead many people to ignore direct commands found in the NT. Acts:15:29, speaks of 4 things, not only blood. "to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication." To consciously do any of these four things is a serious sin and will make you ineligible to be in God's Kingdom. You better know exactly how Jehovah feels about the misuse of blood before you start invoking his mercy.

Nephesh has a semantic range that can mean being, soul, or life. It means that a person's LIFE is in their blood. If they bleed out, they have no life. That's all.
Wow! Were talking real life stuff here. I can't image the guilt, pain and suffering the mother endured(ing), when, upon seeing scripture contains no such mandate regarding the blood issue (the way the WT leaders portray it), realizing that her very own son was lost by her own hands because of the false belief that the men in Brooklyn speak for God over and above the true authority -- the Word of God. @nibornagrom I wonder why it is the christian groups that do all the pointing fingers. They judge continuesly, amazing. I have spoke with alot of denominations and groups. I have to say that the meanest group is the evangelicals. Cathics, jews, JW's, Morman's, muslims and agnostics are so kind. You guys are just plain mean. The Bible is clear on gathering in groups. Heb.10:25 "not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near."
The New Testament mentions many individual congregations. Paul's letters are to organized congregations. I'll agree with you about mean spirited people. But they can be found in every religion, even JW's. You should get to know Jehovah's Witnesses better. Look them up.

Sadly, their Watchtowers and books will show more signs wear from personal study than their own Bible. Witnesses will look up scriptures that are quoted in the publications and take the Watchtower teaching as 100% from Jehovah. Jehovah gave us his word the Bible, he didn't give us the Watchtower to decode it. I hope one day many Jw's will study the "Bible" and not a "Bible based" publication.

@jwsjuls : The best way I can explain Trinity to you is using the analogy of fire. When we build a fire we use generally different pieces to get it going, it starts and consumes ALL the logs but is just one fire not several or many, just one. If you take one piece out you now have two separate flames but they are from the same source, and when the flame is extinguished you can put it back in and it will be one fire again. This is the way I see the Trinity. I hope this helps?

Awesome point. I love stories like that. There's another great story where the people forgot to consecrate themselves entering the temple and instead of being killed, Hezekiah simply prayed for their consecration and God accepted it. 2 Chronicles 30:18-22.
This "mercy clause" you are talking about sums up God's grace in abundance. God is not a tyrant who wants everyone just to obey laws .

No matter how you try to excuse blood transfusions Acts 15:19, 20, 28 and 29 says abstain from blood, to make the meaning clear compare that statement to abstain from alcohol, you don't put alcohol into someone's system when they're supposed to abstain now do you??!!!

Blood is not consumed by your bloodstream, but it adds to your blood volume and continues to function as blood. You can verify this fact by searching for the words "blood is a tissue transplant" in the WT CD-Rom library. They acknowledge that a blood transfusion is the same as an organ transplant. Organ transplants are allowed even though the organs contain blood... why is that?

21 - just wanted to add that the only passage in the New Testament that does mention abstaining from blood is done so to promote harmony in the early growing church. this was due to the Gentiles trying to adhere to their old pagan practices blood drinking (strength) which was quite offensive to the Jews who were attached to the Mosaic laws/dietary laws prior to Christ. Paul wrote to the Gentilesin the church (in Acts 15:29) & says do these things & YOU WILL DO WELL...(NOT "you will be saved")

So I don't know were you are getting 50,000 from. Infact, TRALI occurs in about one in 5000 transfusions, which means there are at least 5300 TRALI reactions per year in the US alone, and something like 500 deaths.
1 in every 5000? I like my odds.

In any event...The facts are that blood transufusion complications cost anywhere between 5,000 to 50,000 deaths each year. Maintaining a blood bank is very expensive. The patients transfused with blood are in the hospital longer recovering. All hospitals are moving to bloodless surgery and Emergency medicine because it makes sense and saves lives and money. You can thank the JW for insisting that we have better surgical techniques!

So sad! I am sure this mom is just heart broken now. 2 things-1: God had a reason for some of us to have the same blood type. 2: the jws allow organ transplants, and all vital organs have blood in them. Hearts, livers, kidneys,ect., do not go thru a cleansing process, flushed out if you will. Yes, one can inherit a disease from blood transfusions, but we can inherit a disease thru any type of surgery. The #'s are low for those who contract diseases thru bld. trans. God wants us to help save life

many have a problem with one doctrine or another, as if what they believ is the absolute truth, is an arregent frame of mind. All religions have a base to them that, to some extent, is based on Biblical fact. Man can not look at one and say, with a sound mind, this is the truth. Impossable, for God said we see thru fog and we will be shown all truth when christ comes back. So we all need to share the goodnews and Love one another. thats it. we don't need mans church. Jesus is our rock.

My thoughts are that the primary scripture that the WT uses is the one in Acts 15 where, actually, circumcision and not blood was the main issue. Nobody ever died over the circumcision issue but, regretably, the same cannot be said of the blood issue. Transfusions should, indeed, never be routine because of the risks they involve, but losing one's life for a requirment that is not biblical? The sacrifice is too great!

You may have had bad experiences with a few but that's not indicative of all ministers and Gospel preaching reformed churches. Look your posts are very agnostic and you show a lot of skepticism. You have nothing theological to offer w/ the exception of criticism of the text. Look just examine the claims of Christ and see he is worthy to place your life in his hands and trust him for salvation.

Where ever you hear Christ preached and the free forgiveness of sins and the imputation of HIS righteousness you have Christs church. Weather it be Presbyterian, Baptist or Lutheran. Your personal relationship is not in isolation from others you must minister to others in the context of Christ's body.

@jwsjuls No the RCC is not a Christian church, her teachings are apostate! The RCC denies Justification by Faith Alone (the gospel) and Sola Scriptura. The bible is verbaly planery inspired. God used human authors to breath out hid self disclosure. My take on why there is wars is a biblical understanding of sin and depravity. "to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication." Wow! Were talking real life stuff here. I can't image the guilt, pain and suffering the mother endured(ing), when, upon seeing scripture contains no such mandate regarding the blood issue (the way the WT leaders portray it), realizing that her very own son was lost by her own hands because of the false belief that the men in Brooklyn speak for God over and above the true authority -- the Word of God. Truly sad. I simply can't image bearing such pain from that kind of deception.

The Bible is clear on gathering in groups. Heb.10:25 "not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near."
The New Testament mentions many individual congregations. Paul's letters are to organized congregations. I'll agree with you about mean spirited people. But they can be found in every religion, even JW's. You should get to know Jehovah's Witnesses better. Look them up.

Thank you Brian,This was a great video. I wish I knew more Jw's that had Bible that looked like yours. Sadly, their Watchtowers and books will show more signs wear from personal study than their own Bible. Witnesses will look up scriptures that are quoted in the publications and take the Watchtower teaching as 100% from Jehovah. Jehovah gave us his word the Bible, he didn't give us the Watchtower to decode it. I hope one day many Jw's will study the "Bible" and not a "Bible based" publication.

Just a question: If drinking blood is wrong, then why did Jesus tell his followers to drink his? (John 6:53) Metaphor or not, why would Jesus use a discription of something that is forbidden as the symbol of his new covenant?

@jwsjuls : The best way I can explain Trinity to you is using the analogy of fire. When we build a fire we use generally different pieces to get it going, it starts and consumes ALL the logs but is just one fire not several or many, just one. If you take one piece out you now have two separate flames but they are from the same source, and when the flame is extinguished you can put it back in and it will be one fire again. This is the way I see the Trinity. I hope this helps?

@abbygu why is it that you use an analagy from your mind and not the Bible. If it were true, you should be able to find a parable or something in the Bible to explain it. Jesus gave a ton of parables. Why does the church use these odd examples , like fire, like gas. I have a serious problem with man telling us this. So did Jesus. He said call no one rabbi or father. He is our teacher and our father. The elite back then hated him for this. He was taking away their meal tickets.

No, I didn't miss your point.
I directed you to look at the reason Jesus would do such a thing. Those who followed fleshly thinking left off following Jesus. You are asking a question that has a self-evident Scriptural answer. The fact Jesus did use that metaphor, knowing what Scripture and the Jews believed. My point is that he said they had to eat his flesh too. That is obviously wrong. So is misuse of blood.

And you never answered my original question, you threw up alot of smoke, and attacked another hill that my army isn't even on. @nibornagrom My question that I first made that you responded to, had the word "covenant" in it. Circle the word covenant in John 6:53 and get it back to me, I can't seem to find it in the verse. No, the subject of John 6:53 and Luke 22:19 are the same. Both are about eatting and drinking the body and blood of Christ. Please deal with it.

@nibornagrom Infact, in John 6:48 says, "I am the bread of life". Luke 22:19 "when He had taken some bread...This is my body." John 6:55 "For my flesh is true food, and my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up in the Last day." Luke 22:20 "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood."
Both subjects are IDENTICAL. You can't defend this.

So to clear this up, what you are saying is, you agree that Jesus didn't beleive that it was forbidden then to consume blood, or why else would he use it as the symbol of his covenant?
First give me a clear answer, then I'll give you the answer. (I know of the WT word games they play.)

Yes you are wrong. I simply asked YOU, that is YOU, to tell me the answer to the question YOU brought up. Read my comments. I told you what I thought the reason was why he would use forbidden things in his metaphor. John:61 American Standard Version "But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said unto them, Doth this cause you to STUMBLE?" Jesus lived The Law of Moses, of course he thought it was Wrong to consume blood. This is the 3rd time I've given you the same answer.

That's when I'm shooting my pucks at your net, (ask you a question) and you see that i'm about to score, and you can't deflect it, (answer the question) so you push the net out of the way, (not acknowledging my argument). @nibornagrom Christ became our Passover Lamb. 1 Cor.5: 7-8 "For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." After the sacrifice, they ate the Passover Lamb. Those who follow the Passover Lamb has eternal life. Mt 26:27-28 “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
Remission of sins, gets you eternal life (John 5:53)
