did the car have the same chassis as a production RX7? How come they ran it with 3 rotor, if the prod car has 2 rotor? Are the rules quite flexible...
Almost EVERY car is pushed started at Bonneville, tall gearing prevents normal starting. The FD was an attractive car, but the aerodynamics weren't designed for these speeds. Class rules prevented additional aero devices. BTW... that was our car.
The FD footage was shot by Options Magazine-Japan. I've not seen any footage of the FC's run, not sure if anything was shot. I know that the Racing Beat guys didn't shoot anything. I'll check. The car is still intact, it is currently at Mazda's R&D facility in Irvine, CA. We rebuilt the engine approx 4 years ago.. fire it up and let's make another run!
