Hey, dude, always treat a gun as though it is loaded (even though you've checked it ten times and it's not), don't climb a fence with a loaded rifle or shotgun (that's Gun Safety 101 from probably the 1940's), and don't run with a loaded firearm (unless you're the police or military, and they're compensated for blowing off a foot). I'm a gun owner and Iove to shoot, but people who do this need to get dates and get out of the house.
@darthvitahn yeah I'm sure you're right but I just don't think it suits pistols with optic sights, if there's a folding stock and a silencer involved it's a all toghether different matter : ).
What a shame that the sights and stabilizing panels completely destroys the look of the gun, I would rather shoot a 16th century gun than those freaky guns,,,
I think they should use standard iron sights, its cheating with optic sights....
@Skumpaj Actually optics sights make life more difficult close up. I've shot both optic and ironsights and optic doesn't give you as much of an advantage as you'd think. It's a differnt type of shooting really. Not easier or harder. Both have strengths and weaknesses.
hits on score rings times power of the gun and then all divided by time it took you to complete the course. This gives you a "points per second" rating
In essence yes.... Not in "Zone A", but if you hit the target in "Zone B" a major caliber gets 4 points and a minor caliber gets 3 points. But I think 9mm is the smallest allowed. Google IPSC target and you'll see what I'm talking about.
i've seen eric grauffel using a factory pistol... he shoots exactly fast.... AMAZING. it's useless buying a 5000€ pistol, if you don't know how to shoot..
Thats right most people think they can shoot as fast as eric with a race gun but its not the gun who shoots fast it the man behind the gun who shoots fast ;)
Anybody can get that good when you have a $5,000, hi-capacity, fully compensated pistol with reflex sights. Give them all the same factory handgun and see how well they do. Nice video though.
Explain Dave Sevigny? Glock factory shooter who shoots basically box stock glocks as well as any $5000 custom. He takes production class wins at almost every major. Skill beats equipment and it takes practice regardless of what you use.
of all the basic fundamentals of marksmanship...stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, trigger control, follow through....the one that you need more than the rest is sight alignment
Actually according to Rob Leatham and Todd Jarret both...all the rest is useless unless you have proper trigger control. Sights can be aligned quickly and perfectly but if you are yanking the trigger or pushing it...your shots will never be consistent.
Totally agree. I was at a shooting school this week and watched the instructor hold a pistol upside down in one hand and center mass the target from 15 yards. I was at another a couple of months ago and watched the instructor hit a steel target the same way from 25 yards. He missed just a little at 100 meters. It will make you poo your pants when you see that.
to go with my last post, the targets were 7 yards away. My HK USP was carried strongside Galco, leather. Covered by an untucked button down shirt, bottom button undone. The Reflex sighted pistol was a Walther P22
As a sport, they are exceptional. I'd love to see them do it with, say a standard service pistol, full power ammo and lateral defensive movement. And of course Iron sights.I've shot with reflex sights, and looking "over" my gun, was inherently unnatural.I have never remounted it after that one session. I prefer"front sight wins the fight".I even still use the weaver.I'm happy with 6 shots,3 targets,2 per target2.78 seconds; targets2-3 paces apart, rounds in a palm size pair, moving,USP.40,concealed.
speechless very fast! i like the way he run while shooting. i think jaime and eric graufel will be there in this coming world shoot at bali indonesia. it woulld be nice coz there both slim and very fast. who will be the the champ -open division? guess..?>
One more question? I thought under IPSC rules 5.2.5(all), 5.5.2, and Appendix F3 showing the placement of the magazine carrier. In the vid it is forward of the hipbone(2006 Rules)
the first three things in IPSC shooting is accurasy speed power in that order so try to hit the targets well without breaking the rules and that the name of the game
and what do you think they are doing? playing counter-strike? welcome to the "real world". ever play basketball and realized why only less than 1% made in to the NBA, i can understand why people said some NBA player are good, but NOT good enough on your court?
I already shoot in the same squad of this guy(Jaime Saldanha), if him live in USA he would have sponsor and he would be for sure the next world chapiom. This guy is from Brazil and here are so expensive to shoot(1.000 bulets = U$600,00). And belive me him shoot really fast just look in this video mybe more fast.
You are looking at years of practice and tens of thousands of rounds fired. Any decent IPSC shooter has far better shooting and safety skills that your average police officer. May police and SWAT teams use IPSC shooters as their trainers. Also, IPSC and other shooting sports are the base at which many manufacturers test their equipment before it is used in the real world...
that is true...i would say millions of rounds though because ive fired that "ten and thousands of rounds" and im not even close. o i love compensaters, in fact id love to have one of those custom race gun for self defense lol, with a 5 lbs trigger pull would be fine so it wouldnt go off "accidentally" lol.
The fundamental skills of IPSC are based around shooting under stress and the basics of practical shooting. Because IPSC is a sport, our primary concern is safety. Competitors are allowed to walk the stages and work out how they are going to shoot the stage... but don't kid yourself anything can happen.
Ok. This is a racegun that is either a 38 super or super comp. Many now are loading 9mm long in order to pack enough powder into the case to make the comp work. But I am not a fan of major 9. Compensated guns recoil as much as any other gun of similar cal. The idea behind the comp is that it keeps the shooters dot (or point of aim) on target. The gun just recoils rearward more than up in the air. One thing you will find is that they are fuckin loud and they also deliver more concussion.
They are just sport shooters~ please don't mix up with special force since IPSC shooters read the floor plan in details. However special forces deal with unknown situation, no. of terrorists, bleaching-in explosives such as flash/charges.......

There are regulations you have to follow in regards to the kind of pistol and caliber you can use.
Its basically fast pistol shooting, fast moving along with precision.

Your score is determined by
hits on score rings times power of the gun and then all divided by time it took you to complete the course. This gives you a "points per second" rating
