Actually,if smoke fills the cockpit,the should wear the oxygen masks,from what I know though.Opening the windscreen on a flying plane is virtually impossible since the windsheild is bolted,and even if it can,the pilots will be exposed to really cold and gusty air.

@ThePowerofThe0tak there is a window that can be opened and they could still fly. some time ago there was a Fokker 50 or fokker 100 that was in mid flight and the captain tookoff his seatbelt and within a few minutes the window blew off and someone beside the co-pilot held the captain's legs so he would fly into the engines while the co-pilot landed the plane.
