1.) This was 1992 and at this time Kurt was still in love with Courtney and was very protective of his wife.

2.) Kurt & Courtney feared their daughter was going to be taken away by DHS because of their drug use.

3.) Kurt was probably on drugs during the call.

4.) Kurt was a human being.

That should pretty much explain it. I might add that by the time Kurt died he wanted a divorce and died in the process of having a new will drawn up that excluded Courtney Love.
