To me for some reason Cliff Martinez was better for the band in the 80s than Jack Irons. Don't get me wrong Jack Irons is a good drummer but i feel Cliff was just better suited.
@jyankeesrock Yeah i know what you mean. Cliff Martinez was pretty drugsfree in that time, but keep in mind the other three weren't. I personally think his bandmates were off, Cliff was not.
Also, the typical snaredrum sound of that time had a lot of reverb, which had a slightly lagging effect, so it sounds his timing was off.
they are genius... when in 80's all musicians were plaiyng fuc**in pop and rest of this shit they were rapping, and plaiyng funk, maybe they were not so famous in 80's because they were tooo genius. That's my opinion.
@WhiteBoyIsAwesome oh so that IS what happens, thanks! I was playing the other day and I snapped a string and everything went real off tune and that's the first time that's happened, even though I've broken quite a Few strings...
@Xiolablu3 i wasnt talking about a floyd rose, i have a strat with a vintage trem, and whenever it breaks a string the whole thing goes out. Think about it, if your guitar is set up with the trem to be able to bend up and down, there is a little space between the body and bridge. The tension from all the strings is helping it stay up, if one string breaks it loses some of that tension, therefore making the bridge move also moving the rest of the strings along with it.
jack irons did not rejoin the peppers after the first album, hillel slovak did. Martinez quit the band when the band did their tour of their second album, that was in mid-1986. Jack irons' drumming can only be heard on their third album, which is from 1987.
hmm well that sucks for you, but if they ever come back i hope that they´ll surprise us with some of that old stuff...i´ve seen them 3 times and have always been waiting for Sir Psycho Sexy but haven't seen it yet

I never said anything about Cliff Martinez. Jack Sherman played on the first two records because Hillel played with What Is This.

@MrStagga Sherman played on the self titled debut album. Hillel rejoined in time for Freaky Styley

juansirs 1 year ago
@juansirs naww, if he did the whole guitar would of been super out of tune, the wonders of floating tremolos...
WhiteBoyIsAwesome 1 year ago
@WhiteBoyIsAwesome I think used a normal Fender Strat, not a floating 'floyd rose' trem. He always used classic 70's effects and guitars.

An i wish i could see Flea slapping a P once more with RHCP on stage.
