I really wish one day when we have a mass-produced prop replica, that the size won't be larger than the original prop. The size increase is usually for the electronics, but it's still disappointing that even today we can't use smaller electronics so there isn't a major size increase.
I own replicas from Master Replicas, and even when they are based off an actual prop, there is usually a size increase. I don't remember this being this big in the movie.
It's just years and years of "working prop replicas", and the size is increased by 15% because they had to use large batteries or whatnot.
If you drop $400 on a replica, I would imagine the company could afford to use slightly smaller components. I am a fan of Master Replicas, but some of their stuff isn't exactly correct.
couldn't people just make replica version of these like they do the lightsabers? the custom sabers look and probably are better then the fx versions. so if someone or company were to make these as a knock off; i and im sure many other people would buy one.
Very nice review. Congratulations on finding one on eBay.
Just FYI, I bought one when they first came out. I think the year was 2002, but I'm not sure; but they were definitely sold to the public. Mine is number 889 / 1000, and I still have it. Probably paid about $300 for it originally. It runs off of a N1 size battery, which I hope is still being made. I haven't looked for one here in America for many years.
i love this peice- always want one but was too late in deciding and they had sold out. I have ben looking for one adn as u said they are very expensive now. Great item and very good review - awesome clear close ups - how many batteries does it take? i didn't see any flash though.
Dang, I always wanted one of these

@Draknfyre It could well possibly be bigger I'm not sure, but it's a small price to pay I guess.

@SteveBrant55 Yeah I wish I knew about these when they first came out, it would have been a lot cheaper for me. I paid the equivalent of about $700

lewigindahouse 1 year ago
@lewigindahouse No way, I love it!
Going back to your other question, I picked it up off ebay.
RobotOnLine 1 year ago
Can u tell me how much it was and were u get it from I want 1
lewigindahouse 1 year ago
These were only given to dealers by Master Replicas - they were never sold directly to the public. That's why nobody noticed when they came out.
I'm not completely shure of the run but I think it was quite low - 750 I guess.

It's a cool toy.
RobotOnLine 3 years ago
i'm getting one, it cost me over £600, ($900) cant wait!
foxfriedman 3 years ago
It takes a 12v battery, the same type used in some car and alarm remotes.
The flash doesn't show up on film, don't know why, but it is about the same strength as a camera flash.
RobotOnLine 3 years ago
Dran,, i know why we cant see the flash...
it's simply that we cant remember after seeing every flash...!!!
our memory were wipe out..!!!
HAHAHA.... :- )
Nice piece and real cool... GREAT review
Cheers
