Like fine whine You're getting better with age. Like this a lot! I really liked "Always On Your Side"that You did with Sheryl Crow. Terrific! please keep it up. Dan
Sting's version is good, but Noel Harrison's from 1968 is still the best, i.m.o. But this is still a good rendition. Sting is an excellent singer and musician.
@toadster58 Normally, persons who understand music as it should be understood to tell between vocal performances et cetera do not engage on you tube or other communication platforms …
Noel Harrison doesn’t capture the meaning of the song respectively render …
@toadster58 In that time, the view of a pathetic hero was expressed in songs, respectively, patheticalness, the affected attitude to “love” and respective aspects. Singers paraphrased songs by those means … it was more theatre, more “interpretation” through those means.
@toadster58 Doubtless, many great songs have been written back then, et cetera, and it is hard to get that back in current form. But it is the myth that because it is old, it is better – pointing at that and others joining respectively not having the view that it is a myth.
@toadster58 Singers these days try to capture the reality. And so does Sting … And it’s not a matter of taste, Sting et cetera paraphrase old songs better.
The tempo of the phrases of Noel Harrison’s version hold this tendency moreover.
