  • THRASH THEM ALL!!!!

  • this is what u call old school!

  • This album seriously needs a reissue

  • this song is fucking aweso

  • I don't know why but in some points this band reminds me of Iced Earth!

  • No words can describe the feelings inside me when im listening this masterpiece, seriously..

No hay palabras que puedan describir lo que siento al escuchar esta pieza maestra, lo digo en serio...

  • DIABOLI PERFECTUM !!

  • when music delivered a punch!

  • What's up with some new Nocturnus 2012???

  • Actually it came out in '93, along with so many other great prog-death records like 'Spheres' (Pestilence), 'Focus' (Cynic), 'Dimensions' (Believer) and so on...

  • @ThrashIdolatry Believer is really more of a thrash band... But still, Dimensions is a great album!

And this was released December the 18th 1992....

  • @CaliThrasher86 Yeah, should have called it just prog-records. :) Btw. check out my Thrash Metal ABC on my channel, man!

  • @ThrashIdolatry yeah I did, some really sick stuff on there brother! Haven't heard of M.A.D. in a long ass time!

  • @CaliThrasher86 Oh, I'm glad you like the stuff there. Actually I found time to finish part 5 and will upload it soon.

  • Never have I seen such an awesome album cover!

  • @berserkur19 type in deeds of flesh of whats to come....

  • @azmanabdula That was pretty epic too!

  • @berserkur19 yah man.....

    fucking epic! XD

  • Death Metal and science fiction together? Beautiful!! They have a song about the Andromeda strain… bloody hell….

  • Great Song!

  • 1992!? this is way ahead of it's time

  • very nice, sometimes it calls a bit like death... i think.

  • good death

  • TAAAAAAB!!!!!

  • epic song

  • This guys are fucking original, an death metal with taste and class, awsome!

  • ... And of course, thanks to all the metal fans that have watched (and will watch) this video ! \m/ °;-;° \m/

  • Wow ! More than 21000 views ?! Really ?! Awesome ! The band deserves it !

  • 3:00-3:20 is the most mashed up garbage I've heard in awhile xD But the riff is pretty sweet.

  • I'd like to see one of you haters play the solo

  • beautiful piece

  • Oigan sea quien sea porfavor enseñenme el interludio acustico por favor se los suplico. :D

  • Almost 20 years after, it's fair to say this is "old-school death metal", but back in 1992 this wasn't old school at all. Nocturnus, along with Atheist and Cynic, tried to do something different.

  • I prefer the Key. This is decent though...

  • Those two guitarists were the best in death metal , and Dan was much better vocalist than Mike . This band , to me was the best death metal band of all .

  • terrible cover art but the song kicks ass

  • @insidespiral8 are you fucking kidding me?Haha thats like the best cover art ever

  • @insidespiral8 I beg to differ. This cover art is amazing. If you can paint a better cover than that, I'll take your opinion into consideration.

  • .... BRINGIN' DEATH INTO THEIR LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND !

  • YEAH, OLD SCHOOL NIGGA!!!

  • For me,Thresholds was a life changing album \m/ SCI FI MASTERPIECE

  • why is everybody saying the guitarist is no good, hell, the guy is fucking genius

  • @lascision Sure he is. ^^

  • @lascision This guitarist kicks ass I think he may have been in morbid angel it was either him or the vocalist.

  • @heyhellosalutation MIKE BROWNING was in morbid angel he's drummer/vocalist for this band i don't think he did the vocals on this album but he did on their first one..hes on the morbid angel album abominations of desolation pre alters of madness

  • @lascision If anything it's the drummer I don't care too much for.

  • Epic. I need not say more.

  • the album was off a little bit but the musicianship was outstanding.

  • I find it really interesting how this album was despised by the metal community and even some of the band members when it came out, yet these days most people I talk to prefer Thresholds to The Key. Shows how the metal scenes focus has shifted from brutality to technicality/melodicism. Great stuff, can see the foundations of melodeath as well as modern tech death here for sure.

  • Great band. I think their first one is slightly better though.

  • Man what a great band. That album art is fucking awesome too.

  • This is a great song. These guys were far ahead of the pack when this shit came out. Nocturnus were innovators.

  • i'm about to buy this from my friend on tape for $1 tomarrow, hahaha along with a bunch of other sweet tapes including Death's Spiritual healing =D

  • Great fucking cover art.

  • I love Nocturnus and I have all their cds but not Thresholds!

Could you send to me a copy please?

    Please let me know info@limitedition.it.

  • an ancient traveller of the stars..........

  • hapsap

  • Ctm esto es una obra maestra koño

  • Mike Davis FTW

  • Wow! The cover is wild!

  • what on album cover? Nibiru? xD

  • i remember listening to this when it came out, myself and my friend agreed that thiswas the first song on the album we tought was actually catchy, until the solo starts, listen to how the solo steadily gets worse and worse until the song almost locks up completely, then they just say fuck it and go back to the chorus, we both loved the key, we wanted to love this too but we couldnt

  • @darkestfugue Don't like the Key... There is too much long and boring soli IMO and not enough good'ol thrash/death metal riffs.

  • Hum well, "Don't like" is a little harsh... I just prefer "Thresholds". ;)

  • @darkestfugue You took the words right out of my mouth the key was soooo awesome that this totally fell short. Fuck remembering when I bought the key when it came out damn that brings back a lot of good times!!

    Take care my metal brother!!!

  • @darkestfugue Fuck off

  • @darkestfugue check Sceptic - Arctic Crypt and tell me how do you like it:P

  • @jedynyiprawdziwyGomo thats a good cover, that whole pathetic being album is pretty nice too, reminds me of a heavier symbolic.

  • This song is epic as fuck. Quality could be better, though.

  • I agree though I believe this was intentional on the part of the artist.

  • I don't get what's wrong with the vocals. They're almost like Mike Browning's.

  • @SickMetalVideos I think it's because there are Mike Browning's vocals.

  • @roddykollias8098

Actually the vocals in "Thresholds" are done by Dan Izzo. Browning only handled the vocal duties on "The Key". I'm glad they hired Izzo for this album, Browning wasn't really that good.

  • @roddykollias8098 no theyre not. on this album he's just drumming

  • so fucking god but they bourn in the wrong years

  • age has nothing to do with it, i listened to and enjoyed exodus when they had steve souza since i was 6 years old which later got me into death metal because of my dad. my point is age has nothing to do with what you like, especially when talking about music. i dont know why people always come on these message boards and act like their age means anything its a matter of opinion not age get it right retards

  • Great stuff! I don't get why are complaining about the vocals... not amazing but definitely passable

  • It's just typical 90's technical death metal voice. Just like you I have found Chuck Schuldiner's vocals anoying at first, but listen after listen I get used to this vocals. Now I like it. ^^

The first album, "The Key" is pretty cool. After "Threshold" the band getting more and more mediocre.

  • mediocre? die

    this band is JIZZZZ

  • @bearblaster420 DIE

YOU SHALL DROWN IN A POOL OF MY JIZZZZ! LULZ XD

  • @Draclord35 chuck is the screaming perfection

  • @SlapphePikkur

I actually enjoy these vocals. It's a thousand times better than most of the other metal bands out there, but to each his own. It's kind of Slayer-esque, but as the other stated, it's very similar to Chuck Schuldiners vocals.

  • @SlapphePikkur he doesn't suck, morbid angel sounds just like this. even death, to a degree. back then the genre was way more experimental, and it paved the way for what we are used to, so appreciate it. besides, it still KICKS ASS

  • @blackened920

Well, i'm not so fond of melody and growling/screaming combined.

  • great to find that song here.

  • Haha, I was listening to this when I was 12. :D

  • I'm 14 listening to tech.death/melodic death/death/thrash :p

  • asdlfkj

  • ah..... this is the best 'paracetamol' i ever 'chew' ! Great band! their album " The Key" is the best ever. "Threshold" also a good album. i like drumming skills that Mike Browning possessed!

  • Add the lyrics, they are pure awesomeness.

  • Awesome clean mid-section right here.

  • Nocturnus (with Mike Browning) - still great 18 years later.

This song is oviously inspired by the 1980's version of "The Thing" movie starring Kurt Russel.

  • great movie btw

my death metal band has a song called Devour and Imitate in homage to the "the thing"

nocturnus are a sick band, discovered them the other day \m/

  • A song that refrences ice and death at the sametime?

    WIN!

  • Just discovered this band. They are AMAZING! Thanks for the upload! \m/

  • Oh wow, I found this song from another video and saw the art cover. I use to have this album back when I was in middle school. They were great!!!! Thanks for the memories.....This one, Aquatica and Subterranean Infiltrator were my favorites

  • This song is beautiful...not only is it a true display of talent, but it also is (quite literally) music to my ears!

  • where can you purchase this album? theydont have it in FYE.

  • I've buy it on ebay for 20 euros. I guess you can find it on this site.

  • whenever i listen to this band my mind wanders into space and aliens

  • Wow Mike Davis makes Trey Azagthoth look like a little child and thats saying something cause Trey's one of my favorite guitarists and is one of the best DM shreadders

  • @Headbanger9000 ,I totally agree with you.Trey Azagthoth is too over rated.More over a show off.Never liked Morbid Angel anyway.Doom and Gloom.

  • sweet album art

  • So glad I found out about this band. I love early 90s death metal.

  • old school death metal is way better not including melodic death metal i love that shit

  • i may seem like a jackass but the best bands of all time are bands like nocturnus, obituary, death, children of bodom, norther, kslmsh, looking st it objectivrly melodeath has kept its roots more than any other type of death metal i despise deathcore

  • wow i was drunk when i wrote that message but i think you people can get the point

  • Comment removed

  • you got any other earlys 90s death metal bands you could suggest

  • Hehe, well Children of Bodom and Norther are just average melodeath... Not very interesting. I prefere Wintersun or old In Flames (and Dark Tranquillity... And At the Gates of course) in this style.

For good 90's old school death metal check Pestilence, Gorguts (The Erosion of Sanity and Obscura, but this one was release in 2000), Cynic (AWESOME !), Atheist,, Suffocation (of course), Immolation, Incantation and some scandinavian stuffs like Unleashed, Entombed, Dismember, Demilich, Convulse.

  • id say oldCOB is pretty interesting. their new stuff is cool too, but listen to something like kissing he shadows or bed of razors. and look up suffocation history channel commercial.

  • I know CoB, I've 2 records from them (Hatebreeder and Something Wild) plus a CD-R given by a friend (Are You Dead Yet). The 3 first albums are nice, but since few years I find these kind of music a little boring.

    And their last stuffs sucks.

There is also a good band that I recommand to you : that's Funebrarum. If you like old-school scandinavian death metal you should check this band from New Jersey. ;)

  • cool ill check that out as soon as i get the sound on my computer fixed (or get to another computer). banned from heaven has some nice melodies on it imo.

  • try looking up some kalmah they are melodeath like COB or look up some Archeon. Im not directing this at anyone in particular but i mean archeon not acheron

  • Cob eh?

Go look at their new cover album Skeletons in the closet. Im all for covers but when METAL covers POISON and BRITNEY SPEARS its time for that band to commit suicide

  • Ha ha ha ha!!! You're Goddamn right; I don't like COB anyways, but that just makes me hate 'em all the more...

  • i liked cob up until about 2001, i started to grow out of them i guess. and their last cover album was basically their suicide. there's no going back to metal after that fucking album.

  • agreed.

their first two albums were pretty good though. but after that it kinda went downhill

  • No Considered Dead? It's Gorguts best and a classic unlike Erosion of Sanity.

  • @delarge84 Obscura is definitely their best

  • Check out Broken Hope, Luciferion, Morpheus Descends

  • death!!!

  • I just found my old Thresholds cassette. Now to find a tape player.

    Love this record.

  • im pretty damn impressed. nice work.

  • Du très bon ! \m/

  • One of the greatest death metal songs ever. I still prefer The Key over Thresholds. Just something about Mike Brownings rough vocals.

  • Woah..

  • Mike Davis sounds really like Michael Angelo Batio in his shredding...Amazing

  • I listened to all your uploads from "Thresholds" and this song, which I heard last, confirms it. This is atleast a same level of masterpiece than their debut, whose very happy owner I am, was.

This band simply has it all. Crushing riffs, adequate and optimally long awesome leads and skillful musicians. They also have the best keyboard player when it comes to metal bands ( or who ever did the keyboard part composings

    And the coverart . . .

TOTALLY MINDBLOWING STUFF in all respects

  • I like the song... also love the artwork, somehow metal suits the spacey atmosphere.

  • fucking awesome

  • Que tal soy de Mexico y llevo toda mi vida acompañada del Metal esta cancion solo tiene una definicion EXCELENTE!!!y el final con los teclados no tiene madre es buenisimo en realidad todos los tracks son buenos

  • Fav. song from this band.

    FUCKING AMAZING ALBUM!

  • really love this song its awesome

  • This song is so fucking awesome, unbelievable

  • Yay! It's been so long since this album was in print. I hope they reissue it soon.

  • Yeah, it's pretty hard to find this record now a days (or around 20 euros or more).

A re-release would be great (and for the EP "The Realm of Human Illusions" from Necrotic Mutation too !)

  • Can you get the album off Limewire?

  • I got the album by .rar, both the thresholds one and the key

    they are awesomee

  • I prefere Thresholds which is more mature and "controlled"... There is too much useless solos and "guitarhero" leads on The Key.

But sorry, I don't use Limewire (and I've buy this album... Which is pretty hard to find, so I understand people who download it).

  • Oh C'MON! Buy those albums THEN .rar it onto your drive!

  • Great, hopefully now more people would be able to enjoy this awesome song!

  • I have it favored

  • You know why almost nobody has watched this video?

Cause it's "Arctic" - not "Artic" - Crypt.

  • Yep, sorry, again an error of this fucking WMP (the mp3 file is called "artic" but the name in the back of the CD box is "arctic"), thx !
