  • Actually, Democrats constantly demonize republicans. Also consider that many people don't care about republicans or democrats, but just wish we could elect people who would stop deficit spending, and limit government management and interference in our individual lives.

  • LOL!!! You sure about that? Where have you been living for the past 35 years, under a rock on Mars?

  • Small Willy, the republicans will continue to hate the democrats as long as they insist on lying to the people, not support the military, call for big government, and use taxes as their answer to everything. Until the democrats get their heads out of their asses (doubtful), this country will surely get itself torn apart. And there's nothing to stop it.

  • I think it's the other way around you dumbass republican.

  • WHAT???? Where did you come from? Do you live in the USA?

  • yes

  • How the hell did we get such an ass clown in office?

  • Observe Obama's spastic neck-throwback when George Stephanopolous reads the definition to him.

Law enforcement officials (homicide detectives) who have watched this behavior say it's clearly a physical tell of deception or deceit in answering questions under stress.

  • The Bible is very clear about the roles of leadership. Palin should only run for political office if there is no righteous Christian MAN left in this country.

This has nothing to do with Sarah. I admire many of her positions. It's simply a challenge to Christian MEN that we need to stop having Christian women fight the battles for us. We need to turn off the sports and turn to God. Obama is more acceptable to Christdom than Palin. If it comes down to Palin vs. Obama, God says choose Obama.

  • The reason there will be a tax on people who choose not to carry any insurance is so that we the taxpayer no longer will have to foot the bill for them 100% when they go to the ER in an emergency. Everyone ends up needing health care at some point even those who are irresponsible. Why shouldn't they pay it. I would also like to add that all of us even us who have insurance will benefit as our premiums will be lower so why shouldn't we contribute something?

  • absolutely absurd. not surprising from the uninformed republican right.

  • Do you agree with getting taxed for refusing health insurance? Do you agree that if your current plan doesn't meet the "Government's" standards you could lose it? Do you agree with going to jail if you refuse the insurance? That was proposed by Baucus. A democrat. I have a copy of HR3200. You should read it sometime.

  • I know that if I was in a car accident and I was found not having car insurance, I would be fined, not taxed, as the right is calling it. My current plan, the only one that's offered by my employer, has a deductible of 2.5k and a max life time limit of 25k and covers nothing but things that are deemed "medical emergencies" and in the 5 years I've had it, it has never help me once. Plans like mine shouldn't exist and only live to benefit insurance companies bottom line.

  • I'm uninsurable for various reasons, like having a stubbed toe. If having goverment madated minimum coverage, just like they do for car insurance, means I and everyone else can be covered under a plan that actually helps, I'm all for it. And no, you won't be sent to jail for not having health insurance, you will be fined by the IRS, but still, not a tax. I have HR3200 too. Maybe you should give it a look over.

  • Car insurance is not mandatory. If you don't have a car, you're not required to have car insurance. A fine is still unjust. That's my only beef with the public option is mandating insurance for everybody. There is nothing optional about it. I understand it is a single payer program. Why can't they just have the insurance, make it optional without mandating healthcare? Just having it available for the public if they choose to take it?

  • By requiring health insurance for all, you lower health insurance prices for everyone. If all of the healthy have to pay, then the sick don't have to cover the entire burden. Its the same thing with public education, if every family had to pay for their child's education, the vast majority couldn't pay the 15k per year per child.

  • There is an idea that comes to mind. It's called personal responsibility. If you want health insurance, you need to buy it. Work for it too. I shouldn't be responsible to pay your college and your healthcare. Should I be able to buy your car, groceries and pay for your rent as well? Where you're getting at is Socialist and it is Unconstitutional. Colleges don't charge 15 k a year. Only the more "prestigious" ones.

  • Now that's typical of the Republicans: "I'm gonna take care of me and screw the rest of you." If all Americans work together on this issue, we can make it better for everyone. Not everyone is buying health insurance and that's part of the problem. If everyone, including the young and healthy, pay into the system, it lowers the price for everyone. And I wasn't talking about college, I was talking about local high schools. There's nothing unconstitutional about it, even if its socialist.

  • Let me get one thing straight. I'm not against helping people that can't help themselves. I'm against helping people that don't want to work. It's called personal resposibility. I am a registered REpublican, however, I don't support any party whole heartedly as all politicans, including this one are full of shit. I support the candidate that I have the most in common with. As all Americans should. I see you're for total Government takeover. STarted with the banks, went to the auto

  • Healthcare is a right

  • Show me where in the constitution it says health care is a right.

  • It's in the Bible which > Constitution.

  • Ok where is it in the bible?

  • Where is what?

  • That healthcare is a right. I hate to break it to you but the Constitution is a Godless one. Jesus was for free will, not Govenrment takeover. That means we choose whether we want to contribute to others or not. We are not forced against our will to pay for something unconstitutional.

  • Ah, that's a reasonable argument.

My thing is, the constitution is so old and irrelevant on a lot of issues, like technology and healthcare, that it doesn't really matter what it says or doesn't say on these issues.

It would be like still using an abacus when a calculator is nearby.

  • The Constitution is hardly used anymore. So you think things like free speech, right to bear arms, right to a speedy trial are irrelevant?

Be real. The Constitution is still law whether we agree on it or not.

  • Oh, I agree that there are certain things about the Constitution that are good, including those rights. I just think it is a very old and outdated piece of literature, and as such, there are issues that it could not speak on.

    Issues like technology and healthcare.

  • According to the most recent of Governments they are trying to make the Constitution obsolete. They are not serious about Healthcare reform as If the democrats were so serious about it as they claim, they would have passed it already as they have the numbers to do it. They just want the public to think they give a damn when they really don't. Don't be fooled by their smiles and charisma.

  • Oh I'm not fooled at all. The Dems are just as bought as the GOP is.

All they care about is continuing to get cash from the insurance company lobbyists. I think a reworking of the Constitution is needed. Bill of Rights 2.0 I guess you could call it, to update the things that have occured in the last 200 years.

I trust the Dems slightly more than the GOP to be for the little guy, but only slightly.

  • lol. I like how you said slightly. The Dems are good at speaking for the little guy but at the end of the day that's all they do. They care as you said "slightly" more but both sides also have good ideas though.

  • pgcops, good job, this guy is a religious left nutjob. He probably whacks off to Fred Phelps. lol

  • Now moving on to forcing this Government run healthcare down our throats. Can you say Communist?

  • By everyone paying into the national healthcare system, we lower the burden on those that are sick. 18,000 Americans will die this year from preventable diseases, many of them completely willing to pay for their own insurance if health insurance companies would give them coverage. You can't require the health insurance companies to cover the sick without requiring the healthy to pay into healthcare. Communist and Socialist are two very different things.

  • I understand your viewpoint. However, it's an atrocity to force Americans against their will to pay for something the majority doesn't even want. It is tyranny basically. This is how Clinton lost the Democrat Congress in 94 and this is how Obama will lose it next year. People are sick of having this stuff forced down our throats against our will. One side says only the rich will pay for it, Obama said he won't raise taxes, you say everybody will pay for it. That means 2 of you are lying.

  • Stop being a greedy satan-worshiper

Jesus says we should provide healthcare to everyone especially poor ppl

  • I suppose Jesus came down and told you this? Jesus does not support total Government takeover. He supports independence and free will. He said in 2 thes 3:10 "If ye shall not work then ye shall not eat." That means if you don't work for what you have, you don't deserve it. Oh and Christians are suppose to rebuke eachother in private.

  • The people who oppose Jesus' demand that the sick be healed are the ones who have sided with the Satanic insurance companies.

They are the Satan worshippers who have said that a woman can be a true leader. They are worshipping false gods.

Only a Christian MAN can be a leader.

  • Anyone who opposed Jesus' true word is a Satan worshipper. Case in point. You. You are passing judgement on me which makes you a non christian. Jesus believed you needed to work for what you have. Not sit on their worthless hydes like you. Then you wonder why more people are losing faith in God. People like you pervert the word.

  • lol

  • Baucus is a conservative disguised as a Democrat. He's a blue dog, and that's what blue dogs are. The Baucus bill sucks from an actual Democratic point of view.

  • YOu say Conservative like it's a bad thing. :) Liberal or Conservative doesn't necessarily entail what political party you are affiliated with. It's more of a viewpoint. I haven't liked a major Presidential candidate since Reagan. REpublican or Democrat. All politicians are full of shit so either way, we're screwed. The way to vote is to vote based on who I have the most in common with. Not on party.

  • I don't know if it was you I replied to, but someone pointed at Baucus's bad bill and said he was a Democrat, which he just claims to be.

  • Well, if he has the D on the end of his name, it must be true.

  • GOP is for rednecks and dumbass religeous.

  • religious*

  • @stanjz : Are you seriously arguing liberal politics using Christianity as your base? Liberals promote secularism, separation of church and state. Liberals promote abortion of the unborn, assisted suicide of the elderly, and naive rehabilitation of murderers and child molesters.

It is not government's job to make people act morally, that is something we as a people should take care of ourselves. Private charities are much more efficient at helping peope that the government.

  • "Congress shall make no law respecting any establishment of Religion nor prohibit any practices thereof." That's the only thing the Constitution says about REligion. Stop taking it out of Context.

  • that last comment was directed to stanjz.

  • Ah the same tired liberal memes.

Newsflash: Police and Fire Department are LOCAL agencies, not Federal.

The public schools used to be LOCAL, until Carter created the Deprtment of Education in the 70's, which ties in nicely to when schools started going in the crapper.

Post Office, what a great example! A federal agency that has been getting more and more expensive even with federal assistance.

    Care to try again?

  • JOIN US! GOP Revolution!

  • Just look at the most wealthiest regions and countries in the world. Scandinavia, Flanders where I live. We are the richest countries in the world and all have health care organized by the government. If I go to the doctor I pay like a dollar or two. People who are common workers like me can be treated for "expensive" things like cancer or kidney failures. We pay a lot of taxes. That's right. But we never have to worry about our health or having a roof above our head. Rich people remain rich too

  • "If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.—Samuel Adams

  • "The good news is the Obama administration only wants to raise taxes on the rich. The bad news is the Obama administration thinks you're rich.

    P.J. O'Rourke

  • damn liberals! I'm sick of socialized government systems like the post office, fire fighters, police departments and public schools. If you cant afford private school, it's not my problem. Healthcare is the same way. Why should I care if you have health insurance or not??? I don't want to pay taxes, I want to give all that money to health insurance lobbyists. And spend the rest watching NasCar an my big screen television drinking some budwiser!!!

  • You tell em' fucking liberals

  • Haha, great impression.

  • Looks like the 'GOP' is concentrating on capitalism only any more while America is facing bigger problems. Immigration for instance, how much pressure are minorities pushing on those taxes? Vote Constitution Party! Where conservatism is still conservatism. America to the Americans!

  • Republican leaders exhibit almost every Christian vice including: hate, greed, violence, pride, dishonesty and lack of empathy. Republican leaders think the most important virtues of Christianity, love, peace, mercy and forgiveness are weaknesses. They try to make a mockery of Christ.

  • Projected Part D Expenditures

    less: Projected Part D Revenue

    = Unfunded Liability

Who is going to pay the bill of $20 trillion?

  • Free

From what I have read it's 1.9 trillion by 2019. I guess such massive debt is a good argument for private insurance huh.

  • Exactly...the left is freaked out by these numbers when they want to ridicule the republicans, but these are somehow absent when talking about Obamacare.

    It's kind of funny.

  • I don't know who is giving you these numbers, but w/e.

The total cost of the medicare part D for the fiscal period 2006-2015 was 724 billion according to CMS. That's for the initial surge in costs. The total "unfunded liability" through 2015 is expected to be about 29 trillion. But that is all inclusive and has little to do with part D. Part D deals with drug entitlements. The projected unfunded liability is going to be 8.7 trillion.......over the next 75 YEARS! I think we can manage the cost.

  • Sorrian

I can tell you where they are getting these numbers. Liberal college professors.

  • You know....sometimes I wish a meteor would crash into Berkeley...

Or maybe a mutated virus that targeted only aging hippies and 60's radicals...

Then again, that's venomous and sadistic. So, I'll leave that kind of thinking to the left.

  • It's not isolated to schools like Berkeley it's running rampant everywhere. I'm able to get used college text books, those book are anti capitalism pro-socialism and pre-liberalism hate America hate the Constitution. So in other words they are full of lies.

  • True. I live in a college town. I see the disaterous effects of these revisionist books that overstate the negatives and devalue, distort, or omit the positives of American society. They have become heavy on the propaganda and light on the substance.

  • I do need to make a retraction. The part where I said unfunded liability for Part D was 8.7 trillion over 75 years...it's actually 12.4 trillion. 8.7T was the 2004 estimate. Still that caan easily be paid for if WE STOP THE SPENDING NOW and reform medicare to limit or even repeal some of these entitlements that are killing our economy through outrageous taxes.

  • Sorrian,

A Republican Congress passed Medicare Part D, which President Bush signed into law. The estimated unfunded liability for the program when passed was $20 trillion.

Who is going to pay that bill when it comes due?

Total US Government debt and unfunded liabilities increased more under President George W. Bush than any President in US history.

  • Unfunded liability just means not covered or insured by an asset. Medicare doesn't need assets. It's subsidized by tax dollars.

That doesn't matter anyway because this ethereal unfunded liability projection (even using some leftard's formulas) would have been 27 trillion by 2010. Where is the downside you were alluding to?

And you're right Bush did increase them more than any other president BEFORE him. cont'd...

  • That's why true conservatives are pissed at him. He spent like a drunken liberal on welfare and massively expanded the federal government, but Obama has quadrupled that.

What that unfunded liability entails is every person and all their medical expenses who are currently enrolled in medicare. Do you honestly think we'll be hit with that bill all at once?

  • Unreliablesideliner

The private sector cannot fund R&D?

Don't tell that to Intel, Microsoft, Apple or the hundreds of other software developers that most likely have given more people jobs than any industry in history, you might make them feel like they have missed out on something. Guess what, they did it ALL on private money IE investors or private sector loans.

Where do you learn such BS? MSNBC? The liberal daily times?

You're a cockpated used SHILL must be a nice feeling huh? lol

  • Xiphos,

Do you prefer to drive cars that have steering wheels or cars that have functioning brakes?

Ideology is deciding that steering wheels are absolutely essential and therefore opposing liberal Democrats who insist on putting brakes in every single car whether they need them or not.

[In this metaphor, a steering wheel is "the free market" and brakes are government.]

Don't be a market fundamentalist. Don't let Anti-Brake-ism become your religion.

  • lol You're kidding me right?

Sorrian is right you are made of all kinds of stupid.

I would rather being driving a car with no brakes than to be a passenger in one with brakes as a stupid liberal drives the car right off a cliff.

You are one shallow individual who is

lacking in worldly wisdom and informed judgment, you're pure ideologue and I know why lol you're a victim of genetics. ---->

  • Xiphos,

    There's a third option.

Instead of a car with no brakes or driving off the cliff, why not try a car with both brakes AND a steering wheel. It's call the Democratic Party.

  • That analogy is so completely opposite of what is actually happening.

In a time of record spending, inflation on the horizon, job losses/high unemployment, record deficits, record debt, and malfeasance in congress; what do the democrats do?

They spend 5 times as much, print money with no value, waste stimulus money on temporary/governemnt jobs, quadruple the deficit in just 4 months, borrow more money, then try to pass at least 2 economy busting bills in the same year.

  • So yeah....the democrats are in the driver seat and instead of turning the wheel and hitting the brakes......they punched the gas.

You can't spend your way out of debt by spending in a way several orders of magnitude higher than what you previously owed. It's just plain idiocy.

  • Unreliablesideliner

What's Obama going to do when the Iranians Nuke Israel and he looks duped as hell over their Nuclear Weapons Program?

Smoke a pack of cigarettes? Eat crow? Send them to 300,000 kelvin?

I say Eat Crow while he's Smoking that pack of cigarettes mean while the French send them to 300,000 kelvin giving them what they deserve.

  • 28 trillion in debt from GW and the RNC.

  • the national debt is 12 trillion at the moment, quit trumping up numbers to make it sound worse for you political opponents. The DNC will have increased it by 1.6 trillion this year alone and some projections will have the total at 26 trillion by 2015. Courtesy of liberal jackasses.

  • George Bush set the building on fire. If it takes 1.6 trillion dollars to put out the fire and restore the building to it's former glory, that's a cost generated by George Bush, not by Barack Obama.

Remember. Ronald Reagan cut taxes and predicted huge growth and a balanced budget and that was followed immediately by the Reagan recession of 1982-83.

    Reagan blamed it on Carter.

  • You're an even bigger idiot that I first thought. That 1.6 trillion includes a failed bailout that is equal to the Bush bailout in it's insanity. SO now you're claiming that a 787 billion (actually well over a trillion) is somehow going to fix things? As for your "cost generated by Bush" that complete garbage. It's generated by you idiot liberals who strong-armed banks with your communist "Community Reinvestment Act" that had likely been designed to purposely break the American economy.

  • sorrian,

If you're telling the truth, and I think you are, you would have allowed the world to fall into the Second Great Depression.

    Please don't vote in 2012.

  • So I don't get to vote for being correct on this? And you should because your wrong? Brilliant.

The economy would have righted itself but WITHOUT the failed businesses and banks such as GM, AIG, Goldman Sachs, etc. But now you would allow those failed businesses to survive, in effect rewarding terrible decisions with taxpayer dollars all while this administration is printing money out of thin air dirving us to hyper-inflation. You're made of all kinds of stupid.

  • Yes, I will be voting in every single election for the rest of my life to help prevent morons who think like you from ever being in control of my family's future.

  • 9-11 wasn't the fault of George Bush. It was the fault of Speaker Newt Gingrich, the Republican Congress, and the entire Washington RNC who thought the whole world should focus its attention 24 hours a day on nothing but Monica, Monica, Monica. Right?

  • Unreliablesideliner

You're nothing more than a flapmouthed crookpated tosser.

Remember when Sudanese Government tried to hand Bin Laden to the Clinton Administration on a silver platter three times? Remember after 9.11 Clinton admitted that he had dropped the Ball on Bin Laden three times? How about all the US embassy bombings in Africa that Clinton did absolutely nothing about?

People such as yourself make the perfect hypocritical ideologues and you do play the role well. Obama Lies!

  • Xiphos,

As you know, Bill Clinton was doing more about bin Laden in 1998 when the Republicans were obsessed with . . . Monica, Monica, Monica, Monica, Monica, than George Bush was doing in 2001after explicit warnings from the outgoing Clinton administration.

Clinton was dropping bombs on bin Laden's head.

After failing to keep America safe, Bush finally woke up and searched for bin Laden for eight years and . . . was unable to find him.

    Kudos on the insults, though.

  • I'm a "communit sympathizer" because I don't want to invade a communist country? I don't like communism but I see no reason to fund the taliban, and Iraq, in the name of democracy, like Reagan and the republicans did during the cold war. So since Hussein commited a genocide, you must be a mass murderer sympathizer.....

  • Genius. Reagan was fighting a much bigger threat at the time. Your comrades of the U.S.S.R. You know, the ones that tried to put missles in Cuba pointed at the U.S. Of course you think they posed no threat. Nice work.

Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan were communist. What the hell are you talking about "not wanting to invade a communist country?

As for Hussein, at least the the two Bush presidents had the nerve to go after him. Clinton just drew a line in the sand and tole Saddam to not cross it

  • The justification for the Iraq War was that they had WMD's. It's no suprise there turned out to no WMD's or a link between Al-Queda and Iraq. The Afghanistan war is failing and the death toll on our side is the highest it's been since last year. That war has been going on for 8 years, if the death toll is rising and there are no signs of improvment why exactly are we still in there?

  • That was one of many, chemical weapons were found but the liberal media trumpetted on about no WMD's.

Al-Qaida is in Iraq right now and always have been. Militants are militants and any group who supported them are just as guilty no matter what name/banner they had before.

Afghanistan is going badly because our idiot president would rather go talk about himself in foreign countries than sign off on the troop surge. Don't purposely tank the war then complain it's going badly.

  • Al Queda was never in Iraq before we were present their....fact. I wonder what president funded and helped develop Iraq's chemical weapon program.... starts with an R and ends with a EAGAN

  • "A;-Qaida in Iraq" was formed from Iraqis(militant Kurds) and a few foreign fighters, lead by a Jordanian named Zarqawi. Zarqawi had plans to bomb U.S. millenium celebrations. So by all accounts the militancy was in Iraq, even before 9-11.

Iraq's chemical weapons were built from Korean, Syrian, and Russian parts mainly, but other countries were involved in minor roles.

Iraq consistently violated the no-fly zones.

Either way you look at it. Saddam was a problem that needed correcting.

  • "Militants are militants and any group who supported them are just as guilty no matter what name/banner they had before." -- Does that include the American government? :)

  • Yes if they held the same beliefs and condoned actions for the same reasons. But America didn't do that did they?

Nice try taking what I said out of context, but you fail. Thanks for playing. Goodbye.

  • We are slaves.

  • when i was five my dad sat down and taught me that anybody who has more than me is a badperson

the more i go into debt

the more people are badpersons and the more goodperson i am

    im so happy

  • Tenebrys,

If you think it's great that American families are falling into bankruptcy over medical bills, I'm sure you will join the Republican Party in blocking any reform in the way we pay for health care in America.

  • Profit is all swell and dandy but don't kill my daughter to bust out your quarterly prediction...

Healthcare should be immune from the profit motive - how is that such a radical idea in the amazing advanced world we live in?

On the other hand, there's way too many of us on the planet and we're all pretty much assholes.

    You know it's true.

  • Lowe taxes, more spending money! More spending money OF OUR OWN (not given to us for "temporary relief") means a better economy! Vote Republican in the upcoming Congressional Election!

  • yeah cuz they have such good ideas. and they got so much done when they had the white house, and both houses of congress. OH WAIT NO they messed EVERTYHING up, from the economy, immigration, national security, everything, so yeah, let's go down that road again, get the whole world to hate us and have nothing to show for it. are you crazy? obama and the dems ARE NOT perfect, but if we let repubs back in, then it's all lobbyists again. why do country folk vote big business?

  • The "economy" was ruined by the liberla sponosored, and thug enforced (ACORN) Community Reinvestment Act. National Security was not ruined until Obama decided to cut the missle defense systems, out CIA agents, cut the budget. Immigration has long been the product of liberal democrats who use the hispanic vote. In case you were in a coma for the last half century, the wiorld hated us LONG before Bush. Stop using that tired old lie.

Stop being a drone and think for yourself.

  • As for lobbyists. Obama hired them. That's right. He gave them a job INSIDE the whitehouse.

Why the sterotyping of "country folk"? Do I sense some prejudice there?

  • i love how dumb you are. i'm country folk, and proud of it. i'm from a red state that finally woke up and went blue. the numbers are on my side idiot, rural voters vote more conservatively than urban, even when that means against their owns interests. but as assuming as this is, i have a life. you prob just watch fox news and then spit back what beck riley and hannity shit out on you on youtube. markets should not be freer than people. medicare for all! Repubs either help or get out of the way!

  • How dumb I am? I assure you, I have you beat in any intellectual category. So keep talking.

You even indict yourself in your own comment. You state, "rural voters vote more conservatively than urban, even when that means against their owns interests." implying you only vote what's in YOUR self interest, while conservatives vote what's int the interests of individuals not necessarily themselves.

I watch all news channels, including FOX and MSNBC. I just identify more with FOX and CNN.

  • And jackass, the republicans do have plans for healthcare reform that doesn't involve government beauracracy and killing innovation like democrats. So either help us or get out of the way obstructionist.

  • If Republicans had any interest in health care reform whatsoever, they would have passed a bill when they controlled all three branches of government. They wouldn't have waited until now to announce it.

  • They tried remember but democrats had to butcher every single bill to be sure it would never work and eventually fail.

In fact, the most healthcare reform to be passed in the last 2 decades have been spear-headed by republicans. Only to be massacred by democrats with their increases in entitlements that perpetually strain the systems.

Republicans have been trying to pass tort reform for years but trial lawyer lobbyists and paid off democrats/republicans get in the way. Obstructionists.

  • Well shame on the Republicans for using those excuses and shame on your for believing them.

  • Disprove them or accept it.

  • There's nothing wrong with the views of Republican voters. Voters are for reform of a broken system.

Republican Senators have been hired by the insurance industry to oppose all reform.

The big change Bush made was a prescription medication bill that overpays pharmaceutical companies even more than they were overpaid before. That's not cost-cutting; that's putting Medicare in even greater peril.

  • Bush signed Medicare part D into law Dec. 8, 2003. In the 4 years prior, drug price increases went from 4.1%-7.0% while inflation curtailed from 3.4%-1.6%. Meaning we were burning the candle at both ends. After the bill was signed the average price increase leveld off at an average aroud 5.5% whle inflation raised to a 3.2% average. Meaning you were paying less.

No matter how much leftists blogs try to lie, you can't argue with the numbers.

    dd154_drugprices[1] . pdf

  • So where did the increases come n? 2006. What happened in 2006 that changed all that? Oh yeah. Democrats gained control of congress and prices shot up by about 40% per drug. With the threat of Obamascare plans prices have again skyrocketed. So who was it putting medicare in greater peril?

  • Hiring lobbyists to bribe Senators to write bad legislation and oppose all reform isn't free market capitalism. It's just anti-citizen corruption of the worst kind. The end result is: dead Americans.

  • So why is the TIDES foundation writing bills now? Hmm? Genius

  • Republican voters oppose Sarah Palin's "death panels". They have no objection to Obama's actual plan.

  • Where ever do you get your information? It's not Obama's plan, do you even know who's writing these bills? It's an idea Obama supports as do all ass backwards liberals but IT's not his PLAN.

Are you being fed this information in college? I have a friend was a super smart kid till he started going to our local community college.

Republicans Conservatives most democrats here where I live reject socialized health care on every level.

  • i love to see dumb ass conservatives like TAMARLANE with fear at a government that is remotely concerned with the people. you want healthcare for all that is socialism that's going to ruin the constitution. yeah cuz the constitution really calls for big insurance and a free market and demands that its citizens dont get the care they deserve or demand. i hope you leave this country cuz it's only going to get browner and bluer.

  • I know TAMARLANE. I believe he does fear this government. I agree with him.

The government cares nothing about your health care. This is not about health care. Well, maybe to some it is, or they think it is. This is about socialism. This is about the systematic destruction of free market capitalism. Purposeful, deliberate tearing down of the profit motive. Admit it, you hate profit for goods or services. You think profit is evil. You don't know how the world works.

  • you're an idiot. we can make profit w/o making the whole world about profit. it's been that way for most of the history of HUMANITY! i know how the world works and i know my history. you know neither. socialism socialism socialism. if that's what you want to call medicare for all, go for it. this country is just as much mine as it is yours. we're coming for ya!

  • We're ready for ya.

  • i know you think you are. you have a bunch of guns and you're going to kill anyone that doesnt agree with you or look like you. but that's not a solution. all you teabaggers didnt care about your tax dollars when we were using it to kill brown people in iraq. but now that we want to use it to save grandmothers and sick children, ya'll go crazy, march on washington, and threaten the life of the president. people want healthcare for all! once again conservatives are on the wrong side of history.

  • I've got to admit, you have totally flummoxed me here with your comment. How can anyone be so stupid? You transcend stupid.

  • On the wrong side of history once again? Did you even think that through?

How about liberals? Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, French Revolution, Bolsheviks, Stalin, Mussolini, Lenin, Hitler (yes he was a socialist, stop denying it), etc.etc.etc.

  • I think we are shouting into the wind here. There seem to be fewer liberal rhetoricians (and I use the term loosely).here.

I guess they just crawl back into the woodwork when confronted with a losing situation..

  • Thank you for proving my point. True liberals (that is progressives) were against EVERYTHING YOU LISTED. are you honestly blaming Laos on liberals? yeah it was the peace movement that bombed them. omg and ACORN? i mean your stupidity isnt worth engaging. Hitler was also a christian. should there be no christians?

  • You moron. Liberal hippies, with the help of Walter Cronkite, bitched and moaned until the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam allowing the communists (who later admitted they were defeated) to take over. Genocide commenced (Pol Pot) in the area a few years later. Liberals aren't against any of that. THEY PERPETUATED IT. Hitler abandoned Christianity by the time he was in charge of Germany and his religious leanings are irrelevant. Stupidity huh? You haven't got a clue what you're talking about idiot.

  • If you were not such a uneducated douche you would know that the president during vietnam was progressive. IF you wanted the united states to send our kids to die in a war against an ideology that posed absolutely no threat to us, fine, the rest of us didn't. You know what the cold war did for the world, it caused poverty, starvation, child soldiers, and genocide. "making the world safe for democracy"

  • Poor whinning ass liberal. NIxon was president when America pulled out of Vietnam due to domestic strains. Hardly a progressive. It was a progressive who got us into it.

Communism, and all it's incarnations, are directly responsible for half a billon deaths throughout history. It posed no threat, huh? Idiot.

Now your crying about American soldiers dying and communist dying by American bullets but see no problem for those same commies to kill millions. You sir are a stain upon the earth.

  • You are closet communist sympathizer. Way to go for outting yourself moron.

  • Well your a taliban and hussein sympathizer since the Reagan adminsitration funded both of them, AFTER hussein massacred his own people. So you must be terrorist, dictatorship, AND mass murderer sympathizer.

  • That's so much nonsense, Are you actually comparing 3rd party or by-proxy associations of rightwing politics, o that of direct collusion and support of communist ideals by you "liberals".

  • GOP likes to run a deficit to "starve the beast". Then when the democrats get in all they talk about is the deficit. Why do they get away with this? Are we that stupid?

  • The private sector has had 233 years to come up with a way to provide affordable medical insurance to all Americans and cost-containment.

It failed. Let the private sector insure healthy, wealthy people if that's all it's capable of doing.

Let Barack Obama create a rational system in which everyone contributes something and everyone is covered . . . for the other 50 million.

Every other advanced country was able to do it. We can do it, too.

    And they spend LESS!

  • You really have no clue.

There was no real private sector in health care until the 1900's and what little there was contributed immensely to the distributution of antibiotice, new pain meds, new procedures and surgery techniques, x-ray technology, etc. It certainly did not fail. What strained the system were non-payers flooding the ERs, out-of-control malpractice lawsuits, and entitlements. The other countries most certainly do not spend less, they DO less to keep that bottom line lower.

  • sorrian,

As you know, other countries spend less and their citizens are healthier and live longer.

The private sector is not completely useless. It just seems to be completely useless when it comes to providing adequate -insurance- for all Americans.

If you want American employers to be able to compete internationally, stop burdening them with employees health plans whose costs are rising at a far higher rate, as you know, than inflation.

Our health insurance system is broken.

  • Wrong again. Other countries do not have the minority populations that we have. Minorities generally have a shorter lifespans than caucasions and this artificially inflates their life expectancy. It in no way is representative of their HC system. Also other countries do not have 20 million illegal aliens crowding the ERs forcing up prices. Some have caps on lawsuits. They also ration care, as Canada does, to keep costs lower.

  • A system that makes insurance unaffordable to 50 million Americans making them afraid to go to an emergency room is . . .

    RATIONING.

That's the Republican health care plan.

  • Where are you getting this 50 million number from? It's been proven to be a lie for over a month now.

The 47 million number included illegal immigrants, people who can afford insurance but choose not to buy it, and people who already qualify for medicare/medicaid but don't take it. It's complete nonsense.

You don't need a 10 trillion dollar overload of the healthcare system to pay for the few people who don't fall in those categories.

  • You're in denial if you think our non-system is working.

    Stop blocking reform.

Every other advanced nation has found a way to provide universal service at a lower cost than our failed system.

    We can too.

  • This is more liberal nonsense. Nobody is blocking reform. Americans just don't want your government takeover of the economy and healthcare. There are better ways to reform it, starting with the major causes, illegal immigration and greedy trial lawyers. You drone on about "every other nation" does this and that, but we are not "every other nation". You say it's a "failed system" when more and more of these socialist nations are moving away from that, but you insist on repeating those mistakes.

  • What prevents you from deporting all illegal aliens and arresting all greedy trial lawyers AFTER we pass health care reform???

The three things have nothing to do with one another. It's just more anti-reform bullshit.

Medicare--which exists today--is not a "government takeover of the economy". It's not a government takeover of anything. It's just insurance.

Your father's doctor gives your father an annual checkup. The government writes a check. Administrative overhead: practically ZERO.

  • We've been trying to deport them for 20 years but obstructionist liberals cry about it. Being greedy is not a crime, just immoral.

How can you say with a straight face that illegal immigrants abusing the ERs and billions spent on malpractice lawsuits (the insurance to protect doctors from that and defensive medicine) doesn't have anything to do with healthcare costs?

    Medicare is bankrupt, idiot.

Medicare administrative costs are 5.4%. The sheer volume of red tape is the real issue on that.

  • The administration costs are miniscule compared to the actual fraud in Medicare. Numbers released today said 20% of the cost of Medicare goes to illegal care.

  • Absolutely correct. Medicare also dictates the prices which the rest gets pushed off onto privately insured citizens or those who pay out of pocket. Further burdening the healthcare system. It's a vicious cycle that some have allowed to continue so they can harvest the hispanic vote.

It's dispicable and hispanics are starting to realize they are being used and backing away from these politicians a little. From my perspective that's good to see them stop being pawns of the left.

  • I have a few Mexican friends here in San Diego. Surprisingly they listen to the radio. They are very aware of the destruction of America's superstructure. One of them, a muffler man from Tijuana, who is 60 now, been working at muffler work since he was 13, listens to Savage, Hannity, Limbaugh and agrees with their observations from his own personal experience..

  • Good to hear. It seems to be the older and wiser of the bunch who see the light. Or those who actually work really hard all their life.

People of all ethnicities are realizing the left is all ideals and venom, but no action or facts.

  • I'm still worried. There seem to be more of them than there are of us. They now control the money supply, as Rothschild said was all you need to subdue a country. And they have taken over the large manufacturing base. They will soon start downsizing the military, as they grow a brown shirt military here at home. I don't know what will stop them short of violence.

  • "nobody is blocking reform" Right, except republicans who ignore the fact that the country with the best ranked health insurance in quality HAS UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE.

  • Blocking a huge expansion of government that will collapse into bankruptcy as every other government run project has, when there are better and cheaper fixes, is NOT blocking reform. Learn the difference.

I assume you are referring to France who has a hybrid system of health insurance and HR 3200 is nowhere close to that kind of system. Please be informed before you rant about things you don't understand.

  • What you are saying is you favor a single payer scam, because you feel the private sector failed but you neglect the fact that most socialist healthscam insurance rackets are propped up by innovation from AMERICAN PRIVATE SECTOR TECHNOLOGY. You go off about wanting a system that your pundits have swore was not the case for this particular bill. Which is it? Are you a proponent of single payer or not?

You just really have no clue....

  • How 'bout we have a single-payer system and then don't outlaw private sector research and development as you are implying someone somewhere would.

The reality is, a lot of the great research is done IN the government-subsidized or, as you would call it, socialist/communist American university system.

People who are afraid of government financing should not be allowed to drive on major roads.

  • With a single-payer there is no incentive for the private sector to continue. Ask Canada whose pharmaceutical research fell off by 50% after their healthcare disaster. I'm sure the planet can afford the world leader in that area to drop 50% of their research.

Name one succesful government researched idea that wasn't intended as a weapon, discovered by mistake, or contacted to the private sector.

Public roads have been built by private companies since it was learned they could do it better.

  • You're assuming that government insurance as a single-payer will pay less. That's cost cutting.

Health care will still be extremely profitable for the private sector. It just won't be so profitable that it bankrupts the country.

Why do pharmaceutical television commercials dominate television. Why do investment counselors tell everyone to invest in "biotech" and "pharmaceutical companies" and anything that relates to health care? Because it's been too profitable! They're rich.

  • Single-payer ALWAYS pays less.

Let me break this down for you so you might comprehend.

It costs billions of dollars for pharmaceutical companies to research, develop, test, and distribute drugs. In some cases over 1 billion per drug. That's why pharma is always advertising, but not as much as the lawyers trying to sue them and the doctors.

Now add government red tape into that and the same government dictating what price they will pay for a drug that costs twice what they will get back.

  • That is why the research ALWAYS falls off after a socialized medicine scam takes over.

The government reaps in the tax dollars (many times what is paid in health care now) and offers fewer services and killis innovation in those fields.

All semi-successful socialized medicine coutries get a large portion of their medicines (the ones we're cranking out due to all those evil profits) and technology from the U.S.

Now let's choke that out of existence for the "me" generation.

  • sorrian,

Insuring all Americans -will- -not- mean that people will suddenly stop taking their prescriptions. 300 million people is a bigger market than 250 million people.

You literally have more sympathy for Fortune 500 corporations than you do for mothers and fathers who hesitate to take their sick children to the hospital because the bills might bankrupt them.

  • UnreliableIdiot

Insuring 300 million Americans with a shortage of doctors, while rationing who gets the drugs, to a level well below what is consumed today, will lead to a reduction in drug production. This is simple supply and demand.

I have no sympathy for companies whatsoever. That's more garbage Salinsky bullshit rhetoric. In case you haven't figured it out, Salinsky was an idiot and his tactics no longer work.

  • Not one family is prevented from going to the ER and their child MUST be treated and they do not have to pay it back.

That is just a liberal fear-mongering lie parroted by you drones. Completely untrue. It's just like the "people are dying in the streets from lack of healthcare". All are complete bullshit. Just like everything you've said so far.

  • One successful government idea?

All universities and all teaching hospitals are subsidized by the government. That's where most of the great ideas come from.

Public roads are paid for with public money and built by private contractors. So what are you complaining about? That's using the right tool for the right job. That's Obama's health care plan!

You can't say that Obama's plan would mean too much cost savings . . . and too little at the same time. It's goldie locks. It's just right.

  • Unreliablesideliner

All universities and all teaching hospitals are subsidized by the government. That's where most of the great ideas come from.

All I can say is ROFL.

  • Xiphos,

Precisely how much does the private sector invest in basic scientific research?

Nothing. They can't afford investments that take more than four months to pay off.

I realize that this is a religious issue for some people but facts is facts.

  • *three months

  • Most of the "great ideas" most certainlt DO NOT come from public schools. What planet are you on. Most innnovation has come from private sector companies or normal citizens innovating on their own.

Obama's plan will kill private insurance and everyone knows it including Obama. It clearly states how it would prevent new policies from being written. Meaning if you change jobs you HAD to get the government plan.

  • Except that it would not prevent new policies from being written. Where are you getting all this false information?

  • Nobody is saying Obama's plan costs too much and too little at the same time....It just costs way too much while STILL being under-funded and under-staffed.

  • Republicans do NOT want ....

    Republicans do NOT want ....

    Republicans do NOT want ....

    Republicans do NOT want ....

    Republicans do NOT want ....

Republicans do NOT want .... Anything but to regain power!...

Even at the expense of the nation.

  • THE REPUBLICANS DO NOT WANT HEALTHCARE REFORM.

I wish I knew how much has already been paid to this party to keep saying no to anything the demcrats try and do to get them to support helping the American people. All you can hear is no, no, no.
