Remember Alex Brown came to my school this past week and the presentation changed my perspective on things. When Katrina came up to talk was when I teared up. I thought it was my grandmother cause she had cancer. We got in the car & was on the highway before I knew it no one told me what was going on. On the way there my family was praying. They finally told me. My mom had been in a car accident. She didn't die but I know how you feel cause I had a close relation ship with my grandmother but she died & all I can think of is her! I can relate to you in 2 ways. 1st off I am kinda close to my mom but not that much. One day we went to go see my grandmother. My mom was on something & she was acting weird. I was asleep & she came & woke me up & said lets go & I said no I wanted to stay with my granny. At 1:00 my Aunt comes in my room & wakes me up & says get dressed! I was so scared.

Although i'm 20 and not really a teen anymore, your story really got me thinking. I lost a very dear friend of mine in a car accident 2 weeks before Alex's. She wasnt txting, but she wasnt wearing her seatbelt either. I miss her terribly, but i thank god everyday for the time i knew her and that she was killed instantly and didnt suffer.
I'm so sorry i lost my Mawmaw when i was 7 and i used to stay with her every weekend and be at her house every day. I'm now 10 it still bugs me but i know she's in a better place. It makes things better. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I thought it was my grandmother cause she had cancer. We got in the car & was on the highway before I knew it no one told me what was going on. On the way there my family was praying. They finally told me. My mom had been in a car accident. She didn't die but I know how you feel cause I had a close relation ship with my grandmother but she died & all I can think of is her! You will always have some one. Stay strong!

Hi Katrina, my name is Grace & I am 13 years old. When I saw this video I broke down into tears & I know how you feel. I can relate to you in 2 ways. 1st off I am kinda close to my mom but not that much. One day we went to go see my grandmother. My mom was on something & she was acting weird. I was asleep & she came & woke me up & said lets go & I said no I wanted to stay with my granny. At 1:00 my Aunt comes in my room & wakes me up & says get dressed! I was so scared.

Hi Katrina, I am the older sibling of a motor vehicle accident death - my brother died when he was 18, 6 weeks before his high school graduation. It is so hard to believe when it happens! My little brothers and little sister were so affected. I hope you are doing good now. I love the Lord too, and I am glad to know you do too. He is our strength in all things!

I live in Lubbock and remember when this happened. Since then I have quit texting while driving. If I must read the text right away, I pull over and read it. Alex may be gone but she is still changing the world. I couldn't have been happier when ABC put the Brown family on Extreme Makeover. Congratulations on your new home and a new start. I am 11 right now and my sister's name is also Alex Marie... she didn't die but she is starting to drive and she is on her phone ALL of the time. Texting her friends and just internet. I am now worried for her... about all of that. I saw your story on Extreme Home Makeover today and I felt SO bad! I know partly how you feel... my Pop (grandpa) died and we had a very special relationship. I hope you are doing okay, these days.

Stay strong Katrina. I just watch your story on extreme makeover home edition 01-30-2011. I never really thought about the dangers of txting and driving. Although i'm 20 and not really a teen anymore, your story really got me thinking. I lost a very dear friend of mine in a car accident 2 weeks before Alex's. She wasnt txting, but she wasnt wearing her seatbelt either. I miss her terribly, but i thank god everyday for the time i knew her and that she was killed instantly and didnt suffer.

I'm so sorry i lost my Mawmaw when i was 7 and i used to stay with her every weekend and be at her house every day. I'm now 10 it still bugs me but i know she's in a better place. It makes things better. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I don't do that at all and it does make a huge distraction! Here in my area in Ontario, Canada, they've passed through Legislature that texting is illegal! Katrina, I see so much of myself in your story. My 17 year old sister also died in a car wreck when I was 9. You will spend a lifetime trying to understand why this happened to your family, and struggling with your greif, as I have, even after 20 years. Katrina i just finished watching Extreme Home Makeover and very very sorry for your loss!! R.I.P. Alex Brown. Here in British Columbia, Canada it is a legal. The Fine is 500 to 800 dollar fine. You cannot text or even talking on your cell!! people need to stop this foolish thing including drink and drive. If i was there i will sign the paper and wear the orange thing around my thumb!!
