  • superb!

  • looks dangerous

  • thumbs up if you came here for last days.

  • wow!

  • Tutte ... Is a common tag-on at the end of pieces from this time pieriod. Don't know the history- just heard it. At least the tune is.

  • Va te pendre possible ?

  • Délicieusement débile ♥ I love it

  • i get chills in multiple parts of this song! i've heard more "recent" lineups do this song, but i still have a special place in my heart in this lineup's perfomance.

  • Bill Ives (the tenor's) final part is the best of the entire song... Escampe! Toute frelore bigot! (alles is velroren bei Gott)

  • ahhh, Simon Carrington. :)

  • Does anybody know what year this was recorded in?

  • Wow it's amazing! I love it! Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland:)

  • Wow it's amazing! I love it! Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland:)

  • I'll never get bored of this.

  • ...Whoa. I have *got* to get my choir singing this. Perhaps not quite at this insane speed, but still! :)

Quel splendide travail. Très beau. Parfait. Merci et mille bravos

  • from RENAISSANT

  • We have the same interpretation!! I'm so pround!

We based our singing on this version!

  • Is this the Verdelot version with the added voice?

  • King Singers is The Best!!! We "almost" got the same interpretation of this song. But i Must say the pronounciation is very difficult and because it a long piece extreme concentration is needed to sustain the energy...One of the Hardest song I have ever sung.

  • J'adore!!!!!!!!

  • the best.

  • Too bad I personally know Simon and he'd probably give a hearty laugh to what I wrote :)

  • Bravo !

J'aime beaucoup votre interprétation, du beau travail.

  • They should sing the notes shorter.

  • Yeah. These are all well-trained musicians with schooling and years of performance behind them. I think it's safe to trust their interpretation of this, and I'm more apt to respect their interpretation than that of some random stranger.

  • The greatest choral recording ever made. I had the pleasure of seeing them do this in person in 1984 and the whole front row was nearly spit on. I've heard this thousands of times since then, and I am more amazed every time.

  • The first time I heard this was 20 years ago in college. We were tripping on acid and this pianist I know put it on, and it blew my f**king mind!

  • such a rediculous song...but so much fun!

    amazing singing.

  • ...this masterpiece is giving me shivers on my spine ....magnificent !!!

  • .... I am finding it difficult too to read 'through' the old fashioned French.... But I worked it out, with the help of my French native friends in the choir! It's quite 'bloody' and very FRENCH.... Chantons la Marseillaise!!! LOL

  • We are trying to tackle this battle song right now and I am in awe for the KS... I am one of their greatest fans anyway! Wonderful rendition and even without listening you get the picture by watching them mouth and by their facial gestures!!! Outstanding....

Is ANYBODY out there capable of telling me the names of the singers at that time? PLEAAASSSSE.... Is the very expressive counter tenor maybe Nigel Perrin?!

Lovely video too! Great job well done :) THANKS

    Kiki

  • No, good luck finding a video of the King's Singers early enough to have Nigel Perrin.

From high to low they are: Jeremy Jackman, Alastair Hume, Bill Ives, Anthony Holt, Simon Carrington, and Colin Mason

  • Where did you find the sheet music? I thought I ordered it, but instead received "La Guerre de Renty" by Janequin and LeJeune, which is a completely different piece. Any help is appreciated! Merci!

  • lindo...maravilhoso.....

  • well thats some freakishly cool $hite, put that in the fav's, one minute your searching for a 40yr old reunion with a lion and some humans the next......

    gotta love utube aight!

  • Thanks for the lyrics!!! These guys are... wow!

  • Merveilleux et incroyable.

  • their best aspect is that they never lost the pitch!!

    they're too great!

  • AMAZING!!

  • These guys are incredible!!!! They've been knocking me out since about 1977..... such energy, such skill, such poise and musicality - they are simply the Cat's Meow.

  • Exellent Song!

  • That was epic.

  • exelent song but the subtitle is full of writting mistakes...je sais ce que je dis ^^

  • These "mistakes" are because the song was written in Old French, at which time spelling was different, there were no accents and grammar was non-standardized.

  • Janequin is an absolute genius. And the King's Singers performances are just wonderful.

  • you can say that again!

  • Still waiting to hear their equal for this song. Got to hear this group in the early 80's when this video was made. Even better in person!

  • King's Singers are the best. My Favorite! ... and this is thier best song!

Le roi Chanteurs est le meilleur. Mon Préféré ! ... Et ceci est thier la meilleure chanson !

I Cantanti del re sono il migliore. Il mio Favorito! ...

  • TROOOOooooo Nuuul , maiis bravo , C super biien fai

  • Janequin foi um gênio.

E esses caras, são ótimos inérpretes!

(Jannequin was a genius. And these guys are excellent players!)

(Janequim fue un grand creador musical.

E esos chicos cántan muy bién)

  • luv this song ...... they're awsome

    Estupendo!!

    Bravos!!!

  • Superbement interprété!

    Dieu, le Roy, la France!

  • these guys are awesome

  • I used to listen to them as a teenager. Freakin Kings Singers rock!

  • i like the counter tenor~

  • KS first recorded this song on the 1973 FRENCH COLLECTION-the Poulenc section I'd reccomend. They thought more suitable to perform the version with a fifth part added by P. Verdelot to the 4 part original - actually sounds better. Moreover, the KS always used a customized version swapping the 5 parts among the six singers or singing bits with 2 singers, not the only case by KS. Fab performance and music; the onomatopoeic part is sheer fun!

  • great comment

    Thanks for the info

  • @fhunrichse J'aime beaucoup votre version!!!

  • i second cmsinser

  • ahh. oh so amazing. :]

Mercy mes compaignons...

  • Hmmm... at last i found a video with people singing it in F... all the other videos are in A... try to watch my video singing this song with a quartet... it's also in F!

  • wow!! I have this cd but it's so nice to watch them sing these songs instead of just hearing them.

  • Oh my God...
