  • can you show amazing grace slower in next video i do not get it?

  • @dahendu1, I do have a whole set of lessons that break it down step-by-step and invite you to play it along with me at a slowed-down pace. These lessons live on the guitar lesson site, GuitarTricks, which you can try for free for 2 weeks at bit(dot)ly/2weeksfree. Just sign in, and search for Amazing Grace. I promise you'll learn to play this song (and many others too!)

  • ohh thank you curiousruthie for posting and for the nice words for baby Gabe......God be with you always..

  • Liza!! Thanks a million...i used to play simple chords when I was younger...some 30 years ago and I totally forgot all of them...now I wanted to play again...I borrowed my daughter's guitar( my gift to her when she gave birth to her first baby son eight months ago)...in 5 minutes I play Amazing Grave...I luv you...luv you Liza mmmwwwwahhh...Now I can play the song my favorite with my grandbaby Gabe!!!

  • @2008gracias Wonderful, and congratulations! Welcome to the world, Baby Gabe.

  • Hi. Great video but can you explain the strumming pattern please? I see it seems to be in groups of three as in . . .1,2,3. Which strings are being strummed on the '1', the '2' and the '3'.

? Is all the strumming 'down' (D) for all the strokes or is it : U D D.

I am very slow but eager to learn. Many thanks.

  • @777hayes It is 3 downstrokes, basically. The first one hits just the bass note (lowest note) of the chord. The second two focus mainly on a gentle stroke across the highest three strings of the guitar. Occasionally I may toss in a gentle upstroke in between those basic strokes. I've got a whole course on Acoustic Strumming for Beginners that might help you out. you can find more info at my site, GettingStartedWithGuitar (dot) net.

  • The capo just makes the chords/song sound a little brighter and higher.

  • Nice! I like it! I have been trying to practice this song for awhile. Not able to come close. Do you have the chords for it?

  • wow brawoooo nice !!!!!!

  • Im confused...Why do you need a Capo? You could just play A Major D Major E Major without a capo and it will sound exact same.

  • what a beautiful voice! :)

  • I consider this one of the most beautiful song ever it nearly moves me to tears

  • you sing beautifuly :)

  • im gonna play this for my church on christmas this helped i have all the notes i just needed somebody to show me how to do it

  • Thanks for blessing us with this song. what is the name of the guitar u are playing sis. stay blessed

  • thanks lisa that was very nice

  • Great work!!!

    LOVE&PEACE Dario

  • THANKS SO MUCH i have been dying to learn this song on guitar!!! btw luv ur voice!

  • thank you,obrigado. nice voice.

  • Thank You!

  • can you play it with out a capo?

  • i'm fascinated with this!... such a beautiful voice you have!!!!!

  • thanks a lot, im going to play this at my grandmas funeral next week

  • Capo at the second fret is in the key of A...finger a regular C, and you get a D

Finger a D, and you sound off an E...finger a regular G, and you sound off an A...

A capo just makes it higher by one step....

  • @JoeDeeaz True, but everyone thinks its easier to name it a C chord cause its still the C chrod shape. Waste of time to transform it twice in your head before you actually play it.

  • She is very good!!! Precise and clear. Thank you.

  • She is very good!!!

  • Thanks a lot for posting this video. I had the chords, but could not for the life of me get a good strumming pattern going. Now I can go to my mother in law's for Easter and play this for her, as requested!

  • Why the capo. ?

    Thanks

  • @oaklandfla2 Maybe so she can sing in her range? I think without the capo she'd have to sing an octave higher, which is pretty high. Just an educated guess.

  • thanck your miss

  • A big thank you Lisa! That was almost like the original. You also have a fantastic voice

  • why did u change the capo from 3rd fret to 2nd fret ==

  • Thankyou so much!!

My nana wants me to play this for her next week(:

    This was very helpful(:

  • pretty lady

  • Thank you!!! Beautiful voice!!

  • @scatkid97 No, she doesn't. If you know the three basic chords, you can play this song. It's very easy. If you're looking for a step by step tutorial, then maybe you should take a paid lesson. She's doing you a favor by putting this video up. You're not entitled, just in case you didn't know.

  • AMAZING!

  • This is the best I've heard.

  • I just started playing and the g chord is all six strings. It is clear that she is not hitting all six on the down or up strums but she never tells you what strings to hit . Not really a great lesson.
