ok u have to have an age too as in like 8 or 4 ft 9 ins because think aubout an adult in one they may not be 4 ft 9 ins as a matter of fact i would need one but i am 13 and about 4 ft 9 ins i might be too small.
When I saw this PSA in Florida, I thought the height requirement for a normal seat was insane. I don't recall anyone I've seen under 4'9" sitting on a booster seat unless they were toddlers.
crap...im ten and my dad bought me a pink booster seat because of that commercial.............its comfy though.and my brother wouldnt sit in it because they fart.
I am 4'11", 18 years old, and I drive....if I ever shrink or the law changes again, I don't care what anyone says, I am NOT driving in a booster seat.
The laws of motion do not change because someone is 15, 18, or be it 46 years old.
Seat belts are made for medium-tall adults. Some seatbelts adjust in the front, but even with the adjusting you may find that you are still a little short.
Fuck the New World Order and the bureaucracy. These legislations passed by congress are against the constitution, and the State's should be able to have their rights promised by the Constitution.
Children do not a voice like adults and cannot make major decisions for themselves. That is why the government must protect them. If you refuse to buy a $20 backless booster for your child, then you are failing to protect your child. It's called neglect and neglect is a form of child abuse. Anyways, if your child gets into a car accident and gets paralyzed for not using their booster, and you cannot pay? Then taxpayers pay.
Seatbelts are made for adults. (average-tall adults because some short adults cannot fit seatbelts correctly). It is not unfair because many children are children and are definitely not adults. If you say it's unfair, then it's unfair that babies have to ride in rear facing car seats and not in booster seats or not with using a seat belt alone. It's unfair that babies sleep too much. It's unfair... It's unfair... I think you caught my drift.
Seriously? I know at least three adult females that are barely pushing 4'9" tall. My grandmother is one of them. Think we should stick all the vertically challenged adults in one too? Ridiculous.
ok or real..u gotta be fucking kidding me..4'9??? thats almost 5 foot what the fuck kind of crack were they smoking when they came up with that height?.. 2'9 maybe
Ok, these are kids they are referring to, not adults. get real people. It's all these people who are too cheap or are too embarrassed to actually care enough about their kids to put them in a booster seat until they are the appropriate size.
I grew up not wearing a safety belt...i remember sitting on a milk crate in the back of a cargo van, or inside the rim of the spare tire...or hanging onto the handlebars of my dads Harley when he took me to school....And, I dont have one friend that was injured throughout grade school because they werent in a safety seat (late 70s and 80s) Being a father of 4 young ones, im not saying I dont believe in safety seats, but I do think someone is going overboard and bloating the statistics.
say that until your child dies or is harmed greatly by not being in a booster seat and you will regret feeling like that for the rest of your life, seriously!
I'm 5'4". I don't fit certain older vehicles correctly. I'm also a Child Passenger Safety Technician. So, yes, I've ridden in a booster before. Because I also grew up in my family owned patient care facility, knowing the crash survivors. I do what keeps me safe for the sake of my child who needs her mother to be the best I can be.
I was 3'4" when I got out of my car seat in about 1996, when I was 3 years old. The law in TN for requiring a booster seat did not come into effect until July 1, 2004. Heck, I rode in the front seat of my mom's 1984 Lincoln Town Car when I had just graduated from my toddler seat.
It's amazing how child safety has evolved so much. I only hit 4'9" about 2003.
I don't think my future kids will be able to get into an adult safety belt at the age of 3.
@safetyissues07 your kidding me if u actually think a 15 year old is going to sit in a booster seat.. if you think they should you must have something wrong with you mentally.

Why is the magic number 4'9" ? Should it be when that child can fit into a the seatbelt
properly without the booster? I would image this would mean different heights for different cars.

This 4' 9" thing seems just too extreme to me.

Some countries require booster use until 4'11" & 12 years old. Their kids are MUCH safer because of it.
