suikoden 2.the best in every aspect.story line,simplicity.the game progress speed n leisure atmosphere.the way the story unfold.next would be 1 but the pic a lil bit ugly.i love 3 with the concept recurring boss and lotery ticket,not to mention beautiful graphic but it pretty slow and you have to repeat all 3 chapter for 3 character which overlap most d time its exhausting.so yeah,2 d best.

What suikoden had such good anime scenes!?! I never saw these in my playthroughs. I mean, I saw the beginning scene but the parts with Jowy and Riou fighting or Nanami there with Riou, or Jowy and Jillia dancing, or Jowy and Pilika-- where is that!?!?!

SuikoGaiden 1 took place the same time as Suikoden 2, it's explain why Sierra was in Tigermouth Village, etc.

SuikoGaiden 2 is 3 years after Suikoden 2.

There seems to be a huge gap between suikoden 2 and 3. The story just don't seemto follow. I got to say this - from suikoden 1 - 5, 4 was the crappiest, and the rest are great !!! ^.^

If am not mistaken, if my memory serves right, taking Suikoden II as the point of reference:

Suikoden 1 happened 7 yrs before Suikoden II

Suikoden 2

Suikoden 3 happened 15 yrs after Suikoden III

Suikoden 4 happened 140 yrs or so before Suikoden II

Suikoden 5 happened 15 years before Suikoden II

That is if my memory serves right.

Suikoden's 2 and 5 are probably the best in the series. With Suiko3 they took a different spin on the series with the trinity system and skill levels. While suiko3 had some really cool features and a great story, it also had its drawbacks too. Most notably was fighting the same monsters over and over during the first 3 chapters of each main character and revisiting the same places repeatedly. Suiko4 attempted to go back to the game basics not too successfully. Suiko5 hit the mark big time.

My first one was Suikoden 1, so my view on which games are the best will be different as a result.

Suiko3 was probably the least suikoden-ish game of the suikoden series. :)

Suikoden2 will always remain a classic old school playstation1 rpg and I highly recommend playing it.

The footage that's not from Suikoden 2 is from Suikogaiden, a sequel to the second game that tells the whole story from Nash(Suikoden 3)'s view.  He meets with all of the 108 Stars of Destiny, so you get a new perspective on the whole game. However, like SkyDreamingAngel said, it was only released in Japan. TOT

It's not animation, I used the openings from Genso Suikogaiden vol 1 (Swordsman of Harmonia) & vol 2(Duel at Crystal Valley), too bad that they are only japanese. Volume 1 takes place during the events of Suikoden II, and vol 2 some time after suikoden II (I think)
