  • You can do it 10 times easier then that,no need to open PSU at all!

1-Simple get a Clip to use to start the PSU.

2- Instead of cutting the PSu cables , get a molex adapter like molex to sata, just cut the adapter use both yeallow and black wires.

3- Keep the adapter, and the PSu it's still usable.

  • did u also cut the grey wire off?

  • at last!!! your right... it perfectly work now with my accucel-6. thanks a lot.

  • I followed all the steps on your vid and done it all but still my my psu will just turn on 1 sec and DEAD!! what wrong? did i miss something on your vid?

  • @joferalfred The newer power supply has I believe a orange wire you need to tie into somewhere. I can't quite remember where to but yeah.

  • @ThePlantedtank It goes to the brown +3.3V sense wire, at least for my supply.

  • @IRFP250N There's also a purple wire that is tied with the silver wire or something. Just did this the other day but forgot.

  • can you add a CB to a power supply?

  • ive done everything you have done except for i have a led rocker switch light for the load instead of the resistor. it turns on for 1 second then shuts off. the led is lighting up for that 1 second so i think there is a load. is the led not enough of a load?

  • You can also put a standard small bulb to draw current on the red wire instead of the resistor, not an LED but a small automotive bulb or similar

  • all the resistor on the red wire is to give the power supply in thinking that it has a load on it and will stay on, if there is no load on the psu when you turn it on it will shut off. these psu are called switching psu.

  • Great process! The question I have is that your putting a red wire to the resistor and ground to pump out max current. So most other vids of this power supply set up dont have a resistor. Wont the unit pump current out when it has a load on it? Or are you maxing the unit out right off the bat. Do you have a regulator at the output that can handle the amps and if so what do you have? thanx

  • Hey There,

Thanks for this ... I completed my PSU conversion with this vid!!! Totally rate it. Keep up the gr8 work.

    Cheers

    Kiwi

  • do you really need that resister to bump up the output? I only have a 200 watt iCharger. I am hoping to do without that to simplify things. Thx in advance.

  • Not sure if mine is even working. Any connect of green to black is met by only 1 second of fan on, then fan goes off every time. I have a 157W hp k-1603a3 with 12v4amp best output, not sure which wire that's supposed to be but afraid to leave it plugged in to long and test without knowing what I'm doing. Help?

  • @mikefromspace put a load on it

  • good video. Looking to do this myself for a work bench psu. some people recommend switching the 12v line going to the fan with 5v to reduce the speed / noise assuming your unit doesnt get too hot.
