So glad the williamses and Justine humbled her over the years because when she arrived, she thought she was the next Big thing and that wasn't true at all, sure she won some slams but Never Never will she dominate women's tennis, she doesn't have the credentials.

Comparing her w/Venus & Serena is like comparing apples & oranges. The Williams r muscular, Maria is d lean model-looking one. Comments that she was prettier then than now, of course, she ages like everybody else. At 18, she's playing the best tennis she could muster, & against Venus who is physically bigger.

Yeah but both have been on grass, which is Venus's best surface. If they play at the Australian Open or the US Open, I'd put my money on Sharapova. Venus's forehand and second serve are much more attackable on surfaces other than grass. Which explains why she hasn't won a major other than Wimbledon in 8 years.

i actually enjoyed watching her play.

but then as soon as 2006 came around for some reason, to me, she really changed.

i dunno what it was though.. i also think she was a lot prettier back then compared to now.

yeah, i know what ur talking about. to me, sharapova's groundstrokes were so much better in 04 and 05 compared to later years. she had better fundamentals: she took the ball earlier, timed it very well, and had simpler swings. now she looks like she's arming the ball and really muscling it. it almost is painful to watch.

and, yeah, i also feel she was prettier and more fun to watch back then.

it's interesting what you say.. i have the same feeling. in 2005 she move better and served better but she didn't won a major back then.. and she won us open in 06 and australia this year.. playing unbelieable tennis so.. to me she is an unpredictable tennis player but i love her!!!

Sharapova's groundstrokes are better right now, just take a look at OZ 2008, they were so powerfull and precision was here, she was taking the ball so earlier, she crushed everyone.

I think Sharapova was a better mover before she grew 2 inches, but since than her serve has improved and her shots have more zip on them. She's also way hotter now than she was 4 years ago. Her face has matured and her body has filled out. She has looks that could stop traffic.
