  • Damn thats a deep triangle ima mos def try that at class

  • Another great vid.

    thanks for posting!

  • It is a divine law that all Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practicioners we all try all these on our girlfriends Amen

  • have you ever done this actually during a match?

  • great move!

  • i subsa guy with this! thanks!

  • nice move!

Been doing BJJ for a while(and just for the fun of it btw!)and I've never seen this technique!

    Cant wait to try it!!!

  • i smiled, such a sneaky technique

  • it might work but if he rolled he could get out ud prob be better going for the arm bar

  • @PATRIOTS4272 Well, The trouble is, When you try and slide your leg between his arms and the front of his chest, Because of the short distance you have to bend your knee and lean yourself back, The moment you do this, The opponent could quickly grab your foot.

  • What if he opens his hands?

  • @xmoroseguyx then u just grab his hand closest 2 u and do the arm bar

  • nice i like doing this move 2 my friends when we mess around lol

  • i've done this technique before which i learned from Karo Parisyan's tutorial, very nice

  • so if you go to lean back for the triangle but he lets go of the arm you can finish off the armbar still right?

  • if only i knew about this last week XD

  • wow thats a beautiful move

  • Thanks for the upload! I always find myself in this situation where I have to waste energy breaking the arm bar counter. Will definately try this one!

  • i thought ur not allowed to crank the head in any kind of bjj comps...

  • @yassir228685 more of a "help them get choked" pull, than a crank.

  • when you take the armbar thing,,

it should be called armbar choke :o

  • ok thats great ... but who the heck ever ends up in a position like that?

  • @lordrabbit16 lol who doesnt?? you ever try pulling off an armbar from mount and theyre just holding onto it with the other. Kinda frustrating. Personally i like the double armbar better but the triangle works.

  • @DatSillyWabbit i guess if they are tired, all im saying is i have never seen nor have i been in a position like that for long. it just seems like the bottom guy would roll and get up then lay down and lock up to avoid an armbar...

  • What i wana know is how to get outa an arm bar

  • @nate18871 You really can't once they have it. they best thing you can do is before they lock it in is roll towards them which makes your elbow bend. Other than that you are pretty much boned.

  • @nate18871 dont get in it.

  • nice

  • lovin it

  • Brilliant

  • i like this transition and use it when the opertunitiy arives but i would just like to add that i feel a little more comfortable grabing and holding onto my shin at the ankle when falling back. when you sneak that leg through and drop the other your opponent raises his head in defence to the armbar this is when you reach behind his head and grab your ankle (not foot because you can hurt your own ankle) and fall back. this keeps everything tight and sinking the triangle a little easier.

  • Awe that's pretty nice. Get them to defend the arm bar mean while setting up the choke. o_o I don't see why more mma fighters don't use more sneaky moves like this instead of trying to power through for their subs and burn a lot of energy.

  • B/c most of them are fairly new to BJJ. Even those that are well versed in the techniques aren't advanced enough to chain submissions together, and not good enough at the grappling game to use baiting techniques.

  • @AngeldeMuerte187 That Might be So but then again you have to look at it differently too. That is just bbj but in mma the guy going for the sub has to be weary of the other guy breaking free for various reasons I've seen fights where guys have the submission and the fight should be over prime example Rampage vs Aurona. He had the sub and should of put Rampage to sleep but Rampage being as strong as he is just powered out of it with a slam. But like you said could be just a technical deficiency

  • @valak00 fact that the whole triangle setup was slow and improper. He didn't have the technique setup correct. Although he did half ass attempt to reach for Rampage's leg. Had he wanted to prevent a slam which is what most BJJ instructors teach once you have your leg over you hook his leg before trying to lock up the choke simply maintaining control over your opponent so that he doesn't escape and or pick you up and slam you. Or atleast with my instructor(s) (Hener Gracie being one of them.)

  • @AngeldeMuerte187 I don't mean to be a douche, really, but if he is your trainer, you should learn how to spell Rener's name.

  • imma go try this tonight

  • i found this really cool :P

  • important to grab the shin while setting up though. Or a strong guy can posture out.

  • That is so cool its like faking someone out

  • Oh god!!! this is delightful when I'm too tired to fight for the arm! :D

    Slick moves!

  • LOVE IT

  • awesome !

i love all your videos, thanks a lot.

  • dope thx!!

  • beauty in simplicity

  • A twofer...brilliant.

  • This is great when someone is too focused on defending the armbar, which is usually the case, although I would generally transition into a mounted triangle from here.

  • Something i noticed is you did not use your right arm to control his leg in spiderweb position, and during the final demo you actually used your right hand to help your foot into position. I thought you were always supposed to keep this leg controlled until you had your foot through into triangle position, at which point it is alright to switch your controlling arm because him trying to turn to his knees makes the triangle easier for you to apply.

  • This was not a 10th Planet set up (this video is a couple years old). It is just a standard set up from side control. There are MANY ways and theories to set up the triangle from here...this is just one.

  • @TheSleeze That wasn't even a spiderweb.

  • Props to the guy caring for the guy that refused to tap, telling the referee it popped and going slow giving the guy plenty of opportunity to tap.

  • sharing is caring, hahah thanks!

  • thats pretty handy...i tried it the other day in class

it works really well...they never expect it

  • this is badass.

now we're all gonna try this.

    ha!

  • im using this in my next fight

  • I am so glad to see videos of Ari again. Clear, concise, just the facts, no stories. He is by far my favourite of the submission 101 instructors. (no offense at all intended to the others, cause they are great too)

  • ditto, this I why I stared watching submissions101

  • I love the close up demonstration man. Try doing this with submission moves you do. This will sure save time instead of switching angles. Nice work. This move is very amazing and easy.

  • its been a while ari..i pull this one of in class all the time...

  • its nice to have videos by ari again.

  • nice tutorials keep them coming, i am learning a lot

  • i like the idea but i just cant see an opponent letting me sit like that. id be tossed so fast i couldnt do the move. is there a video of it being use in tourney?

  • I see lots of people get this in rolling all the time and I am sure there is footage out there in a tourney. This isn't complicated by any means and works really well when you have the spider web position.

  • kk ill check it out and take you word for it you guys know better for sure.

  • if you know what you were doing, you won't get tossed....

  • Keep your knees together and keep a good amount of pressure. Your opponent will be all defense. When you let off on the pressure for a second, he will give you a bunch of space. It is a very fast move. Also look at the "bicep Slicer" from this position.

  • Instead of sitting back like in the video, I think it's better to keep the pressure on him (forcing your opponent to want to sit up onto your knees and force the triangle) and if your opponents head is bolted to the floor, you can use the hand near his head to loop behind his head (grabbing your own shin) forcing the triangle

  • @JrPercusionist I got this on somebody, he was more concerned with defending the arm bar, didnt even see it coming.

  • @JrPercusionist There are videos of this being done in actual MMA matches

  • @JrPercusionist Used it last night; it worked beautifully.

  • That was freaking sweet.

  • Decent vid :D

    Tnx n_n

  • very very helpful 5/5

  • nice nice nice!

  • Nice!!!! Hey Ari, a Boa Sweep video narrated with you please!!! ;P Thank you 4 your videos...

  • wouldnt it be bad ass to have a red belt fight in mma?

  • i think there's only one red belt in BJJ, and that was one of the original Gracies, but true, that would be pretty ba

  • the Gracies are the only ones that can be Red belt in Bjj for some secretes techniques I think Rickson Gracie pass to Red Belt in this months or something

  • ...riiiight... thats why they win the ADCC and Mundials every year without break.... magic!

  • thats pretty sick

  • did this last night. its easier when your partner tried to stuck you..and then switch to triangle.

  • shit that was good. I love this channel!

  • thats really cool

  • wow that is pretty sneaky, love it! 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!

  • beast!!

  • OOOOOO SHIT! thats sneaky!!!

  • Lol I taught this today in my beginners jits class

  • Oh man thats hilarious, I always make my girlfriend let me practice submissions on her hahaha...

  • I envy you....

  • Ur my hero

  • Wow, thats awesome.

  • that's pretty cool. i wanna try it.

  • excellent!

  • outstanding

  • thanks im gonna try it on my girlfriend

  • Nice. That was always my tester too. When no one else was around...

  • lol

  • @pgtv69 hehehe

  • @pgtv69 Hahahaha!

  • I suggest you use on of your hands that is holding the arm and control the head on your way down. You are giving up position to get the triangle, so you don't want him to be able to sit up out of it.

  • two in one...i like it!

  • very nice and useful gona use it in my next fight

  • so simple. Thanks for sharing!

  • Simple yet satisfying.

  • Very nice, might try it.

  • Really useful, thanks!

  • Clear Instruction.

    Nice.
