Seems a little slow, but is really bright! Whats the static friction like on it? And is it worth the time and effort compared to say KNO3 bassed flash, or perc
It isn't that bright actually. Keep in mind it was about 2 grams, and my camera was 2 feet away. This leads to overexposure of the sensor, which makes it seem brighter than it actually is.
I did not perform any tests on stability, nor am I planning on doing so.
It's not worth the effort I think, I doubt if it actually will give a bang when confined.
Anything on this channel is home made :-) . That BP was made with a batch of willow, and then pressed and corned. The stuff used on top here is from the -120# fraction.
are those ratios the right way round? pretty nice though

@megafeltch Stoichiometric ratios. Theoretically it should be the best ratio.

@dudomaniac considering the reaction :
4Zn + KClO4 => 4 ZnO + KCl
the stoichiometric ratio should be 65.5% Zn and 34.5% KClO4, not 70-30.

It seems fairly sensitive considering you lit it with just a smoldering match head.

It was tipped with a bit of black powder, the zinc flash itself did hardly ignite from an open flame.

Ah, yes when I take a closer look I see the BP. Good stuff though, is the BP homemade.
