I have seen Sinead speaking about this incident, and her version of it is somewhat different! She says he came over and asked her to apologize! I can see why he might lie about it though, all these years later Im sure he can see how that would have been a real shit thing to say!
What was really sad was when she was paying homage to Bob Dylan, she had said that it was his music that had kept her alive growing up. When the showed her in rehearsal, she sounded like an angel singing... humble and meek... and then the audience did that to her. Thank God, Kris was there. He handled it right. A crowd of that many... a BOB DYLAN crowd--- and they were willing to stone her... nobody but Kris came to her defense. WOW.
bob dylan fans I guess turned out to be just plain ole red necks mostly out in that audience..could care less about what he was for...all they knew was that some weird bald head chic ripped up god or something...so they boo'd her like crazy.
She deserves a public apology. All the child abuse took place on the Pope's watch. He was fully aware of it. He allowed it to continue. Catholic Church law states that the Pope is a second God on earth and is infallible. He tearing up that monkey's pic was spot on. She was ahead of her time and got a raw deal.
@nooyawker377 she was WAY ahead of her time and took such a drastic step to point out the abuses the catholic church hid. The people are "bastards" for how they acted. She stood up for those who could not speak out. But such a large majority of the American public were blinded by their religion. Unable to see the strength in her action, unable to comprehend the horrors of their reality. Bastards.
why are people "bastards" for letting her know how they felt about her ripping up a picture of the pope. It is also important to remember that was not long after she banned the playing of the american national anthem at one of her concerts as well.
@nooyawker377 For the record, not just the U.S. anthem, but any country's national anthem preceding her performance. She explained that she did want to be seen as endorsing any government's politics or giving comfort to nationalism, which is how she viewed the national anthems of many countries. Because this applied to other countries, it would not be fair to interpret this as a slight against the U.S. exclusively.
@nooyawker377 It was a concert to bring people together who loved Bob Dylan. Where was it their right to put her down because of her oppinion. If she did something that upset them, they should write a letter to her, or find a way to talk to her personally, not use sheer force to cower behind, as they hurt her. Did Bob Dylan cower behind people? Did Sinead? I think that they are much better people than those so-called Dylan fans.
@nooyawker377 You're not seriously offended and overexaming the use of the word "bastards" by Kristofferson are you? He could have said anything at that moment. The point was to comfort her. He had been in the business a long time by the early 90s and probably felt a little protective like a dad would.
It's just so crazy to me that Bob Dylan fans--Bob Dylan, a man who was all about change and challenging the corrupt powers that be--would boo Sinead. Isn't it mind boggling and pathetic? History has validated Sinead's actions and has thankfully garnered her more fans and most importantly, more attention to the hypocrisy of the Catholic church. Kudos and thanks to Kris and Sinead, luv u!
@okiva77 Actually Bob Dylan has repeatedly said he is apolitical and was uninterested in being the head of a political movement... He's kind of a cynical guy.

Bob was a sell out, he stepped all over his friends to get famous and wealthy. He really never had the heart or the courage of O'Conner

@nooyawker377 They shouldn't take it personal. It's the abusers of authority she stood up to, not the people.
