Dear friend, if you want to listen to this song again as well as an endless number of love songs I suggest you visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - look for the URL in Google (search Musica para Mimos). Greatest romantic hits of all times!!!
@9tonite Correct, not only did Karla know that Linda was going to sing a cover of this song she has written several songs for Linda. And for the record covering a song is not stealing. That is a much better word for today's artists that ( sample ) others original music. And Linda really kicks it up several notches on this song.
I bought this CD several years ago mainly for Linda's duet with Arron Neville 'I don't know much'. After listening to every track I couldn't find one that didn't make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. But this track, I left it on repeat for the whole day. If you ever find yourself talking to someone who also has this album, all you have to say is 'what about the note'? That's enough.
Anyone ever seen Linda do this live? Finally if anyone hits the dislike, just tell me where they live.
What an awesome song! I glad that previous posters recognize the amazing hold on the word "blind". When I first obtained this cd,(I did have it on cassette.) and listened to it, I too counted the beats on that hold. I am still blown away by it.
Linda Ronstadt deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Spread the word!
I would have LOVED to have been in the studio when she recorded this. That sustained note on "Blind" is a KILLER - 9.7 seconds at full power. The place must have erupted and I'm sure Andrew Gold fell off his producer's chair. Wow.
When Ms. Ronstadt covers a Karla Bonoff tune, I usually like her version better.....not so in this case....the original by Ms. Bonoff blows this one out of the water...sorry Linda...LOL
@FMHammyJ Each to their own, but Linda's version is considerably better for the simple reason she hangs on to BLIND for over 9 secs. Karla is unable to do this.
@EddieAlda@EddieAlda well you've got me there, and as I stated previously, I usually prefer Lindas covers..(Lose Again, Goodbye My Friend, Someone to Lay Down Beside Me) for example..I just liked the grittier texture of Karla Bonoffs voice on this one,..but theres no denying that extended note..too bad there arent any chick singers(Lindas words) to match her these days, if there ever will be..my favourite female singer of all time....shell be played at my funeral..:)
