Oh yeah and we could have taken the 49er's in the 94 season. We should have beaten the Chargers and we would have taken Pit in the AFC championship. Again though...no running game.
Marino never had a solid running game in 17 seasons. He had some good teams though. 84,85,90,92,93 and 94. Big problem was no running game. Teams keyed on the pass and that was that. Montana and the rest had a good running game. That pushed them over the edge. The 93 Fins I believe would have gone all the way, but a blown achilles ended that season. In 84 the simply didn't didt bring their A game. They should have flattened the 49er's. Oh well, I still love my Fins.
That playoffs game in San Diego will forever break my heart. I still keep thinking Stoyonovich is going to make that FG.
Dan Marino may have had his records broken and may never have won a Super Bowl but nobody and I mean nobody played the QB position like Dan Marino. He put the "cool" in the QB position. He did it with swagger and he did it in style.
Marino had the least talented group of players around him that any qb with 40+ TDs in a season has had..yes he is the best pure passer the league has ever seen...

The thing most "experts" don't want to realize is that TEAMS win championships, not quarterbacks. How many rings did Joe Montana get in KC... none. How many did Favre get when he bailed from the Packers... none! If, as these so-called experts say, it only takes a great quarterback to win a championship, then why didn't Montana and Favre win when they left the 49ers and Packers? Also, if any of these "experts" want to make excuses for these others not winning, then the same applies to Marino.
If Dan Marino did'nt retire sooner than expected and did'nt miss any regular season games in his entire career, brett farve would'nt be able to be where he's in the NFL's rule book on depending receivers was the only reason Payton and Tom got past the TD records. But no other QB has broken the league's passing records in TD YDS ATT COMP and went all the way to the Super Bowl but Dan, he's the "MAN".now. Bar none he's uncomparably the best ever quarterback that lived. Changes
