This is an example how TV and commerce destroys the originality of a person! When she came on stage in jeans, with her guitar, I was caught after the first notes of her voice and the 'NO' of an old woman who has a voice like a scratching nail on glas was a smack into the face. I wish Debra all the luck and connections to do what she likes to do: open hearts and minds exactly the way she decided when she starts singing (and no more serving table!).

With artists like Debra, it's hard to tell when she's going off key and when she's bringing emotion to a song. As a Canadian who grew up with Sarah McLaughlan music, I'm going with the latter. She obviously needs more experience, but there's a great instrument there. This style of singing is the way emo should be. Before it got totally annoying. Before rich kids with their iphones decided starving themselves to get attention was the way to go.

I liked Debra. I started losing my respect for Piers after her semi-final performance when he turned on her (his treatment of Prince Poppycock was the final straw). It seemed like Debra had been a favourite of his until then and she didn't change anything. I thought it was a good performance. They clearly didn't want any singers but Jackie making it through this semi-final. They all but said it straight out. I wonder if the producers chose Debra's song too?

I didn't know this was a Bob Dylan song. Can you imagine if he had appeared on AGT? He wouldn't have lasted past the first audition. I thought about him & many other performers who've had outrageously successful careers that would never make it on this show.

Hopefully, Debra will find the success she deserves.

This was not her best performance, I think she had a hard time hearing at the beginning, but she was SO much better than some of the singing we saw the next week in the finals. Debra's not going to be waiting tables anymore! It's a shame though that the producers kept dwelling on her personal story, it took away from concentrating on her talent. Her singing really moves me.
