They should've developed sitcom about a eccentric comic book store owner and the quirkey goings ons with his friends and family with Reubens as the lead! I think Chris Elliott was VERY funny as Peter, especially in his obsessive fondness for the family cat (pet's name....Mr. ??).
I wish Paul Reubens didn't get in trouble. He was much better as Amy's brother than Chris Elliott. I don't get why they changed his name from Russell to Peter either. What was the point of that? Russell was awesome. Peter just basically had a man-crush on Ray. He was not funny at all.
Wouldn't it have been funny if as a bonus feature, Paul Reubens appeared as the host of a PSA in which he holds up a Hackidu card and says "This is crack"?
Instead of Pee-wee coming to the stage door and talking to the fans (like he did after his recent shows), I wish Reubens would talk to the fans, not in character. I wonder if he realizes that many (if not most) of Pee-wee's fans have seen shows like "Raymond" and movies like "Blow" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and are very interested in HIM as well as Pee-wee. I worked on this episode (I created the Hackidu characters, all the visuals, the trading cards and more) and I thought Paul was one of the nicest guys ever. He was courteous and just very cool. It was an honor working with him.
Prior to his arrest, Reubens had made a guest appearance on the hit TV series Everybody Loves Raymond, playing the role of Amy McDougall's comic-book-obsessed brother Russel McDougall. His arrest prompted the show's star, Ray Romano, to object to Reubens being a part of the show's cast and actor Chris Elliott was cast as the character of Peter McDougall, apparently a second brother of Amy's, to replace Reubens' role.

what's really funny is on the DVD commentary for the first episode with Chris Elliot; he asks about who had played the role before; There's no answer and you can tell the commentary was edited because the next time they started talking was about something else. I've heard Ray had a problem with some recent (and false) allegations of Reuben in possesion of child porn.
