They are mostly made from metal, but do have some leather, plus cloth.
I own an armor from Samurai Store and they are the best!

What are they normaly made of? Really hard leather or metal plates.

samurai armor could also be made of metal wrapped in leather.

That looks like the exact kabuto that actor Ogata Naoto wore in the NHK Taiga Drama "Nobunaga: King Of Zipangu" many years ago. :)

yes we provided it for the Taiga! It was designed exactly modeled afetr the antique one from the storehouses of Nobunaga clans.
