I guess I'm the only one that here's an occasional strange note and some uneven fingerwork. But still this is very high quality playing albeit a tad eccentric.
where is the elegance of a rubinstein , gavrilov never studied in Paris..... sacrificing the beauty of this concert for the speed , well its impressing but not satisfying... well just my opinion, sorry to criticise an icon like gavrilov.....
Are there any videos of Andrei playing the Prokofiev 1st piano concerto? His recording from the 1970s is amazing, he really gets to the heart of the piece and brings real warmth to the piece.
I'd love to see young Gavrilov winning the Tchaikovsky Competition, too!!! I've always wondered how brilliant he was back then because I wasn't even born at that time..lol

Well Andrei looks at this concerto as a deep cruel love drama kind of Dostoevsky-Hugo style. Totally different approach..

oh Andrei Vladimirovič..you are my hero !!such a piano playing can only be called transcendental.
i also think that we 're dealing here with the most gifted artist of his generation.
Puchjok, do you have any video/audio footage of 1974's International Tchaikovsky Competition??where Andrei won the 1st prize?
