  • In German this concerto has the sub-title "Salute to the Rhine". I like it. Since I discovered Ferdinand Ries as an extraordinary composer a few days ago, he became one of my favorites in a very short time. ;-)

  • sounds like a 'kinder, gentler' Beethoven

  • Smells like Beethoven ;)

  • @joao975ca Did you read the info?

  • @bartje11 Yes, so what?

  • @joao975ca then you know why he was influenced by Beethoven. You stated the obvious.

  • @bartje11 Yes, i knew i was stating the obvious. What is wrong with that?

  • @joao975ca Hahahaha. Nice! Nothing better to do?

  • @joao975ca Its no mistake!! Without being detrimental---"Beethoven Lite". The great man was Rie's mentor. But Ries helped B. too--he was instrumental in getting the 9th sym commissioned from the London Philharmonia (where he was living)--in addition to being B.'s secretary for two trying--if valuable--years. Ries was a good, honest, man, and one of the few real friends the irrasable B. had.

  • a great work by ries - i'm still not too familiar with him but i will get to know him soon for sure - i love the score that follows the music - thanks bartje!
