Thanks alot. Yes, I think I did use a pick for this one its hard to see in this video, but sometimes I do use my fingernail on my first finger as a pick and it also works good.
Love the guitar!! I have the SAME ONE, but with a maple neck, & been playing it for over 10yrs =-) I have a vid up of me playing Eric Johnson's Cliff's of Dover on it - you should check it out.
The tone is nice. The guitar is excellent. I like how concentrated you are in the music. The playin' is regimented and precise. Looks good, bro. I watch my fingers constantly.
Thanks alot, the tone i got is just from the overdrive channel of a fender hot rod deluxe. I would like to try some effects sometime, what do you recommend as far as pedals go?
It sounds like you have a natural reverb in yer vid (sweeet). Every player should have some good delay. If you want excellent delay, start with Boss and go up. The best I've heard are made by TC Electronics and Eventide and are a bit more expensive. LMK what tones you're goin' for and maybe I can pitch in with more suggestions.
As far as pro effects go (that aren't overpriced), check out Visual Sound. I use a Jekyll & Hyde, and it's amazing. Also, for this song, a Phase 90 is what Ed used. I've got this same song up using these FX, playing through a Hot Rod, just like you. It's sounds pretty darn authentic, for a living room recording. (I also used the J&H on Cliffs of Dover)

That was cool bro...but YOUR playin the song,so play it like YOU made it up...what i mean is GET IN TO YOU MUSIC dude. Your a good player just look n feel the part n you'll be great!
lol of course not, but i mean its not fun to watch somone play if they dont look there having fun playing, put some more energy, heart into it. and itl even sound alot more emotional if you do
Congratulations. I'm impressed by the flexibility on your ring finger - I wish I could selectively barre strings like you do, I can't - I always mute the first string ;)

Hey Brother can you share the guitar tuning?
Refus1967 2 years ago
Yes, this song is tuned down 1/2 a step. In fact, almost all Van Halen songs are.

I would try to get a ZOOM 8080 effects processor, and a Morley wah. I Dont know if they make the 8080 anymore but there's always ebay.
I got mine for 80 dollars.
For practice at home I just use my zoom 505 processor, its old but it still kicks ass
