i couldn't care less about religion but this is a brilliant song. the stripped down nature of it makes it feel quite intimidating. one of the great canon of songs that should be left well alone by other artists.
Heh -- you're a young one if you don't know what a back biter is, but it's someone who is two-faced & talks behind your back. IE: Someone you thought was your best friend, but you find out that person has been trash talking about you to other people to hurt your reputation.
It's a backstabber, in a very bad way and absolutely nothing to do with gays, at all, whatsoever.
it may have just been a tribute. bit Maybe it was an insight to what johnny believed in. maybe it was fear. or maybe is was acceptence for all that he's done. good and bad
watch it again, lets see... the all seeing eye, the signs of the skull, the giving hand... all signs of the MASONS, ODD FELLOWS, AND ILLUMINATTI..... hmm, seems like they are everwhere.
What it is folks is nothing more than a tribute to Johnny Cash. They made it for hom after he died. Jaysus. Did't any of you notice they were wearing black in tribute to the Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash?
all of his words has a meaning . the same meaning that you can find in 2pac - they dont give a fuck about us + killuminati .. or in the " Speech got jfk killed "
i dont think the people in this vidio are in it to say "hey look, im a christian..." i think they are there to show tey beilevo in the song. and listen to the words, it has a little bit more then just the word "god" in it. its talking about the sell outs, and the fakes not just sinners
Great song, you can feel his emotion. I was never the biggest Johnny Cash fan, but his cover of "Hurt" from NIN really got me. Plus I've always liked some of his songs, especially "A Boy Named Sue". Great work from The Man!

I wonder if all the celebs in this video are really Christian or just those that believe in GOD? Just believing in GOD does not make a person a Christian.
I grew up on Johnny Cash. My parents and grandparents both enjoyed Johnny & June. My Aunt purchased my first guitar and the very first songs that I learned to play were Johnny Cash (& June Carter Cash songs). It amazes me how many people , young and old alike, have felt an affinity to him and been drawn to his soulful music. This talent is God given, as all talent is. Johnny realized that fact and began to honor Christ with his music more and more in his later years.
I believe that this video was made of people who readily identify themselves as Christians...Bono would be a case in point here and then those who do not identify themselves in such a way, such as Madonna who has openly admitted to the press that she is a follower of JEwish mysticism called Kabalaism; which is not the same as Judaism, it is a perversion of it.
Good Vid. Read over some posts... nice to see some emo loving twats commenting on a Mr. Cash song. One point I read, the people in the video - half of them are liars and most likely back-stabbing cunts. Of all of the people on there I think maybe about 3 or 4 of them arent in the category listed off by Johnny.
I believe some have mistaken that all of the people in the video are who Johnny's singing about and that all are "no accounts" but, there are, on the other hand, those whose comments I have read on here that think that Johnny was revering these people in this video and they are all Christians. Well, both of these assumptions are wrong
Kate Moss looks the coolest. Shut up snobs! Probably don't even know much about Johnny Cash, just think it's cool to slag the video off because of the stars in it. Get the stick out of your asses self righteous fucks!
He made no excuses about his past, neither did he try to deny it's sortid existence, but rather made sure that people knew the change in his life was Christ. It saddens me to see people using such disparaging language in reference to him and his music, I am certain Johnny and his wife and family would agree with me when I say that GOd has used his talent to get people to notice and speak about such matters as "the Man from Galilee" and so forth.
This video isn't a Johnny Cash video, but rather a Johnny Cash tribute video. I like it as is because it shows how much impact Johnny Cash really had on the entertainment industry. It's a very nice tribute to him.
That is so cool three of my favorite celebrities were in this video. Those three celebrities were Bono, Iggy Pop, and Travis Barker. It such a cool music video.
yup say it coz it is all true. a true leader should lead, ya please go listen to this song type last breath n wathc n listen not the one with cris cornnel the other one with the sky
most of the idiots in this vid are tryin to get free publicity by bein in a johnny cash vid. they r supposedly payin tribute to johnny but they r the people he's talkin bout in the song. they look like fools. johnny wouldnt like this vid. or he would laugh at the fact that these fools r perfect examples for the message and don't seem to know it.
This video stinks. Nothing but a bunch of celebrities posing like nitwits, desperate to be associated with Johnny Cash, all of them totally unaware of how stupid they look.
Some of these cats in the video have integrity in my mind, but I wonder how many would have been in this video back when Cash was a redneck in teenybopper consciousness. I have a hard time seeing that Timberlake fellow (and a few others featured here) as anything but a tool. Maybe I'm being cynical.
Rich people. Fucking great. They're all long-tongued liars, midnight riders, ramblers, gamblers and back-biters. THEY are the ones who are gonna get cut down. This video is an insult.
I think that's the point. If you're doing wrong by yourself or anyone else, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, rich, poor...you will eventually be held accountable. Whether the people who appear in the video think it's a cool cameo or they take the words of the song seriously, the end result will be the same for all.
Well, I think the point might actually have been to cash in on Johnny's legendary fame by appearing in an official video, but I see what you're getting at.
Johnny thankfully most of these artists did an amazing tribute to you while you were still with us,now they are again paying their respect to you and carrying on your msg with alot of class and respect, I am sure you are smiling down, but alittle dissapointed so many haters will be among just what this song says! R I P
The song is saying much more than most people will realize or ever admit. It is mostly about the patience of God ("you can run on for a long time") and the justice of God ("sooner or later God'll cut you down"). The song leaves no room for unbelief.
i think this video is saying more than we realize. love or hate the people in the video, seems like a confession to me. sooner or later, if we don't follow his rules, god will cut us all down.
ok heres the deal. this the best way all of johnny's friends and fans could pay a little respect so dont think the video is bad just because of the actors. and people wonder why johnny wore black
Love Johnny Cash, happy to see fellow musicians pay their respects, but the actors have no business there. They probably never even heard of Johnny Cash until he died. They can f*ck themselves for trying to steal Johnny's last spotlight.
hmmmmm....kinda lame....they did this to Tupac Shakur...and that was lame too, both incredible musicians....Johnny more than Tupac...but seriously...why the hell would you make a video without the artists consent after they're DEAD?
I can't believe that most of the comments are about who is or isn't in it.It's about God's judgement to those who know his commandments and still want to do things their way.How a person with sin in their life can one day experience judgement in a major way.Pride comes before a fall.Just saying that those who think they can just do whatever are in for a rude awakening when judgement comes.Things may look fine now,but there is no mistaking when a person is "cut down" by God. Fear Him.
you are all dumb...if you don't like the video...dont watch it...dont say it ruined the song...because you can still have the song...its not like it'll make you think about how bad (which it isnt even bad) the video is...the song is still great...johnny is still amazing
what the fuck are these fucking lame celebs doing in a Johnny Cash vid? He'd be turning in his grave. Twatty Bono? Fucking Q-tip? Get fucked you bunch of insipid try-hard cunts.
People are tripping. These people are in the video in tribute to him, to honor his LEGEND. Johnny Cash has a HUGE inclufence on music today and that's why these people are in here. I think is an awesome video, I was surprised to see Amy Lee and Johnny Depp in there but it's great. I miss the Man in Black and his lady love, June so much. Where's Trent Reznor? It would have been awesome to throw him in considering Johnny's cover of "Hurt" is one of the most touching amazing songs ever recorded.
I highly doubt that. Anyone who could cover songs from so many genres (johnny) would not turn in his grave to see such a plethora of people. You people probably got into Johnny after watching Walk the Line so YOU people need to get effed. Seriously.
the song is the shit. jonny was the shit, but what on EARTH is up with this video!? did they actually make this AFTER his death!? poor dudes rollin' in his grave
Thats a great song. The man was and always will be a legend. Few cool people int he vid also a few who shouldnt be there but hey. who cares it was for Johnny so chilax.
brilliant video, great song,i miss johnny i'm only 17 so i never heard him much! i think its great to see ppl from different genres of music and races to show there support to the man in black, apparntly some ppl like to be negative and not look at the point of the video
... Amy Lee (Evanescence), Tommy Lee, Dixie Chicks, Mick Jones, Sharon Stone, Bono, Shelby Lynne, Anthony Kiedis, Travis Barker, Lisa Marie Presley, Kid Rock, Jay Z, Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, Corinne Bailey Rae, Johnny Depp, Graham Nash, Brian Wilson, Rick Rubin, Owen Wilson
The following people appear in the video: Iggy Pop,Kanye West,Chris Martin,Kris Kristofferson, Patty Smith, Terrence Howard, Flea, Q-Tip, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Sir Peter Blake, Sheryl Crow, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson...
..., Amy Lee (Evanescence), Tommy Lee, Dixie Chicks, Mick Jones, Sharon Stone, Bono, Shelby Lynne, Anthony Kiedis, Travis Barker, Lisa Marie Presley, Kid Rock, Jay Z, Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, Corinne Bailey Rae, Johnny Depp, Graham Nash, Brian Wilson, Rick Rubin, Owen Wilson
No one is born "saved" so all of us must decide to hear or reject.
Most reject because it means giving up pride, humbling one's self before the message "Je suis cupable".
"I am guilty". No one to blame, no victim mentality.
You get "it" or you don't. ........"and thou shalt be like the most high God, knowing good from evil".
Sooner or later.............the bill will come.

The song is saying much more than most people will realize or ever admit. It is mostly about the patience of God ("you can run on for a long time") and the justice of God ("sooner or later God'll cut you down"). The song leaves no room for unbelief.

God's gonna cut us all down. Great. Sounds like an Al Qaeda warning.

i think this video is saying more than we realize. love or hate the people in the video, seems like a confession to me. sooner or later, if we don't follow his rules, god will cut us all down.

ok heres the deal. this the best way all of johnny's friends and fans could pay a little respect so dont think the video is bad just because of the actors. and people wonder why johnny wore black
rclark381 5 years ago
Love Johnny Cash, happy to see fellow musicians pay their respects, but the actors have no business there. They probably never even heard of Johnny Cash until he died. They can f*ck themselves for trying to steal Johnny's last spotlight.

OMG, Johnny Depp looks soooooo hot.

hmmmmm....kinda lame....they did this to Tupac Shakur...and that was lame too, both incredible musicians....Johnny more than Tupac...but seriously...why the hell would you make a video without the artists consent after they're DEAD?

i dont really care for the video but definitly a damn good song... RIP johnny

Fear Him.

Wow awesome video.
I think I get it.

The video has nothing to do with the song. I think it takes away from the songs message.

you are all dumb...if you don't like the video...dont watch it...dont say it ruined the song...because you can still have the song...its not like it'll make you think about how bad (which it isnt even bad) the video is...the song is still great...johnny is still amazing

what the fuck are these fucking lame celebs doing in a Johnny Cash vid? He'd be turning in his grave. Twatty Bono? Fucking Q-tip? Get fucked you bunch of insipid try-hard cunts.
Great song ruined by an awful, awful video.

Cash actually did a remake of U2's song one so I don't think he would be upset with bono in his video

and they'd already recorded together (Cahs is on U2's song The Wanderer)

I like this song alot I'm not a big Johnny Cash fan but this could persuade me to listen to more of his music
juggarnaut12 5 years ago
People are tripping. These people are in the video in tribute to him, to honor his LEGEND. Johnny Cash has a HUGE inclufence on music today and that's why these people are in here. I think is an awesome video, I was surprised to see Amy Lee and Johnny Depp in there but it's great. I miss the Man in Black and his lady love, June so much. Where's Trent Reznor? It would have been awesome to throw him in considering Johnny's cover of "Hurt" is one of the most touching amazing songs ever recorded.
babyfirefly666 5 years ago
they can get fucked. lovelydarkness is spot on, hed be turning in his grave.
thadopeman 5 years ago
I highly doubt that. Anyone who could cover songs from so many genres (johnny) would not turn in his grave to see such a plethora of people. You people probably got into Johnny after watching Walk the Line so YOU people need to get effed. Seriously.
babyfirefly666 5 years ago
the song is the shit. jonny was the shit, but what on EARTH is up with this video!? did they actually make this AFTER his death!? poor dudes rollin' in his grave
