People are saying they cannot believe Syed married the woman BUT this is actually very realistic! A lot of closeted gay muslims have to marry in order to keep the family honour. If Syed did not marry Amria his life could be in danger! Honour killings also occur in muslim cultures if a man is openly gay. Syed was just trying to save himself.

@CuteRahila Indians can be Muslim as well. The same way as there are Hindus in Pakistan. I'm not sure since I have never read much about it but I think there's just a higher proportion of Indian people in the UK than Pakistani people, hence more Indian people playing Asian characters.

wtf, qabool hai? This is a term used in muslim marriages of India/Pakistan. Not England. Furthermore the bride takes her vows while the father is present (along with usually his brother/son as witness in that order of preference) in isolation, thats is away from the guests and the groom. Then the groom takes his vows with father/brothers as witnesses. Then the Imam solemnises the marriage and delivers a sermon. Only after that does the bride enter and then they eat. Poor research.
